- inov-8 Parkclaw G 280 Full Review. Developing a multi-terrain running shoe can be a tricky thing to achieve. It obviously has to have the cushioning and structure to handle the hard repetitive road environment but it also has to be able to adapt to an ever-changing trail environment. What I tend to find is, you are left with a shoe that doesn't run on the road particularly well and struggles to perform out on the trails. After my first run in the new inov-8 road-to-trail shoe, I was actually pretty impressed with how it performed in both environments. Check out the review to see if the new Parkclaw has continued to impress.
Thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

I have a soft ground shoe for the upcoming winter (Mudclaw V2), and now I think I've found my shoe for the canal tow paths and parkruns! Great review!
I’m truly impressed with the review on the Parkclaw 280, well said. I must the price is not so bad considering that the other road-to-trail shoes prices are not that far off. Looking forward to a shoe battle against the Hoka SG’s 5. Thanks for the review 👍
Thank Aj, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I think £160 is still pretty expensive, the Speedgoat 5's are £30 cheaper and that's quite a lot. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Very helpful review, thanks 🙂
I'm glad the review was helpful and thanks for watching 👍😊
These are a cracking shoe and managed to get my pair for £128 after completing an Inov8 strava challenge! Great review Loyd! 👍🏻
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍
I think that's about the right price for the Parkclaw, £125-£130 would have been better! 🤔
'Starting with the biggest changes' is funny when, as far as I can tell, everything but the tongue has changed from the old parkclaw. Appreciate the review! I loved the old Parkclaw knit but it wasn't at all durable once you actually hit a trail with all the exposed foam on the outsole.
Not everything Jon. The off set is the same, the lug depth is the same and the tounge design is very similar. Glad you're enjoying your Parkclaws and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
Good morning Run4adventure and all the runners. Interesting video about inov-8. Be carefull with his price. Here is my like. A nice day for everyone.
Thanks Manuel, your support is really appreciated 🙏😊
I’m really impressed with the trailfly ultra so I’m going to try these.
I hope you enjoy your Parkclaws! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Thanks for the detailed review, I really do like the Inov-8 brand. PS Orange, thought they were yellow :)
Really glad you enjoyed the video. It's kind of a golden/yellow/orange colour 🤔
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
Great review mate 👍🏻 these look really promising. Would you think they would handle a 50k like the serpent trail?
Glad you enjoyed the video Aaron and yes the Parkclaw could definitely handke the Serpent 50k. Hope you are fit and well and thanks for supporting the channel 🙏😊
You're right about the sizing. Tried my usual Inov-8 half size larger and put a hole in my sock at the big toe 😒
I know Peter, that's why I made a big point of it in the review! The sizing is all over the place 🤔
Hope you get it sorted out, thanks for watching 🙏😊
Parkclaw has worked well for me. Comfy step in feel and Runs a lot lighter than the actual weight and surprisingly fast on Road. Went half a size up on my usual size and felt good. Agree on price but managed to snag them for £112 so happy with that. Much more responsive than the trailfly in my opinion. Think they would be good up to 50k but not sure they have enough to go past that without feeling.
Definitely more responsive than the Trailfly Daniel and you're right it does pretty light to run in. £112 is a much better price for the Parkclaw, well done 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
Thanks Loyd, really enjoyed your review! Just wondering if you have to size up in all inov-8 shoes or is it just peculiar to this model?
I've had to size up at least half a size in all the Inov-8 shoes I've run in. Unfortunately their sizing isn't that consistent 🤔
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Great review Loyd. Quick question my current road shoe is the new balance 860’s as I overpronate so need the support. I’ve gradually reduced my time down on the hard stuff to the point I maybe only do one run a week on the road so the idea of a road to trail shoe is starting to appeal. Do you think I’m likely to experience issues when using these on a road run due to over probation or is there enough support in the shoe to accommodate that? Thanks again and keep running
It's really hard to say Martin with out seeing you run in them. It would depend on how far your road runs are going to be. I'd say if they're not to long the Parkclaw should be ok if it's only once a week. Your body will have got use to the support of the NB shoes on the road so go steady 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Interesting review & I wondered where this fitted with the RocLite? I loved that shoe as it was my first trail shoe. Am I right thinking RocLites are more trail than crossover?
Yeap, the Roclites are definitely more trail than crossover Paul. Thanks for watching and supporting mate 🙏😊
Sounds like a very interesting shoe, you got me with "a lighter Trailfly Ultra"...as I only run the Terraultra G270, how would you compare the cushion ? And size-wise, my UK 9.5 Terraultra is perfect, so do you think taking a UK10 in the Parklclaw is needed ? Thanks, Ingo
I'd say you'd probably need a uk10 in the Parkclaw and cushioning level is very similar in the two shoes. Hope this helps and thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏😊
Wayyyy small...I own the trailfly ultra g 300. Great shoe! In the Parkclaw I will have to go up a full size. When I first took the Parkclaw out the box and looked at itf2, I said no way, it immediately looked small. For me it's not the width but length, it's just to short.
Bit late, but just picked up a pair (blue/grey) direct from Inov8 for £48. How can one refuse?
If the price was more reasonable I think Inov8 would sell out. At this price it's hard to go for it when there are so many alternative road to trail shoes at much cheaper prices.
I'm personally always happy to pay a little more for Inov-8 as they seem to last me twice as long as all my other shoes!
I totally agree Mohamed, if the Graphene inov8 shoes were slightly more affordable they'd sell a lot more! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
I'm glad the inov8 shoes are working for you James 🙏😊
That lacing system is a deal breaker for me, tongue is gusseted so I can’t see the reasoning behind it, just looks cumbersome and at that price point there are better options in the market, great review as always Loyd 👍🏽
Thanks Dean, glad you enjoyed the video. The lace system is a bit of a faff to start with but it does really lock the laces down so they don't come loose while you're running. The price is pretty step, I think £125-130 would have sold a lot more shoes 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
I just ordered the Inov8 g270 terraltra to replace my Timp 4s, whose uppers simply blew out on both shoes after less than 200 miles. Also, the outsole lugs wear thin too easily, and I wasn’t a fan of the tongue design, which dug into my foot. Disappointed because I like the fit and the egomax midsole. If the G270s work, then I’m going to try a Parkclaw next
The G270’s are my all time favourite shoe, if you like Altra I think you will like the G270’s, they are a bit tighter though which is good for technical trail.
The overlays can cause hot spots.
Oh and the graphene grip is the worst I’ve ever experienced on wet rock 😂
I've always liked the Altra midsole as well Brenda but they definitely need to work on durability! I've had Timps fall apart on there first run 😕 Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy your Inov8's 🙏
Worth noting that you can get the Terraultras for pretty cheap at the moment, thanks to them being dinged with an IP claim in the USA.
Thanks for the heads up 👍
Hey Loyd, how would you compare the Parkclaw G280 with the Trailfly Ultra G 300 max? Looking for a good highly cushioned all rounder, to use for training and trail ultras. Interested in the Hoka SG 5 also, but particularly intrigued by both Inov-8's just mentioned!
The 300 max would definitely give you a deeper level of cushioning Charlotte and I think they are on offer at the moment 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure Thanks so much for your reply Loyd, appreciate it! In terms of size would you suggest sizing up in the 300 Max in the way you mentioned about the Parkclaw? For perspective I'm a UK 6 but wear a UK 7 in most of my running shoes, because I prefer a roomier fit. Cheers, love the channel!
@@CharloHum If you normally wear a uk7 I'd probably go for a uk7.5 in the 300 max. It does size up a little bit small but not as small as the Parkclaw 👍
Hope this helps, glad you're enjoying the channel 🙏
@@Run4Adventure legend, thanks Loyd! Happy running :)
Might give these a go in a few months. Hopefully the price will be reduced by then🙏
I'm sure they'll drop in price after a while Meirion 👍
It's a shame Graphene is so expensive to use! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
Sorry to jump in Lloyd but are you racing the classic quarter or covering it this year
Not this year Alan, I'm running the SWT in a team 👍
@@Run4Adventure best of luck with it 👍🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
Here we go again. Just ordered a 11.5. Normally take a 10.5/11. Will let you know if they fit
Hope the size worked out ok Johnathan 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel its really appreciated 🙏
Hay there Loyd have you run the 50 miles in Grand Canyon yet ?
Unfortunately not but I'd love to run in the Grand Canyon one day! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure Thank you for your response, I live a 6 hour drive so I try to make it there once a year , Remember going down is optional, go up is mandatory!
Terraultra does fine on the road. Probably all you need.
Does wear through the lugs though. Guessing the lug pattern on this would last longer on tarmac than the teraultra
I agree with James, I think the Parkclaw outsole is better suited to the road and would be more durable. Also the Terraultra is zero drop and that's not everyone's off set choice. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
Would this be an option for shorter ultras?
You could definitely wear the Parkclaw for Ultras Nick 👍
It's got a good level of cushioning and protection underfoot. As well as an outsole that can haddle most terrain. Hope this helps Nick and you guys are fit and well! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏
I was really excited for this shoe, but at that price I'm not interested. Saucony peregrine or exodus work really well for me as a road to trail shoe and are quite a bit cheaper.
It's a pricey shoe, that's for sure! It's such a shame the inov8 shoes with Graphene are so expensive 😔
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
@@Run4Adventure My Peregrine 12 are showing drastic signs of wear in the heel at only around 100 miles. My G270 ultra have over 600 miles and the outsole looks great. I'm prepared to spend more for the extra longevity.
03:01 Q: 25% more that what exactly? EVA, their other shoes, wood, concrete?
I totally agree! 25% more energy return? Not sure about those claims 🤔
@@Run4Adventure it might be, of they ate going to claim a baseline, it would be nice to know what the line / unit of measure it. :-)
Decent shoe but too pricey as you say.
Hopefully see you down at the SWT in just over a week.
See you soon mate, not long now! Thanks for watching 🙏😊
Mine lasted 700 miles before they were too worn so very durable in my book
That's great to hear Stuart 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
Hi you can get this shoe from wiggle for £133.33
I like to give British brands my custom if I can but Inov8's pricing just results in a big swerve from me.
I totally agree Ian, inov8 need to try and get the production costs down when they work with Graphene! 🤔
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel its appreciated 🙏😊
Thank you for your unbiased review. I am going to pick up a pair as Inov-8 has them on sale for $144 US vs $180 standard price. One thing that I found confusing in your review: the '280' in the name means 280 grams but your review claims it is actually 315 grams. That is a fairly sizable difference. Also, Inov-8's website claims 280 grams in it specs. Can you let us know how you came up with 315 grams? Thank you!
The weight that inov8 puts on their shoes is the weight of a sample size - mens uk8.5 and mine were a uk10.5 so they were heavier. Obviously a uk7 isn't going to weigh the same as a uk12, this is why I'm not a fan of brand putting weights on shoes, it's miss leading! Hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍
These are now £70, end of line
Seems much too heavy.
It doesn't feel heavy on but maybe a little weight reduction would be good. Thanks for watching 🙏😊
Inov-8 website says they are 280 grams (as in the model # of the shoe). Not sure where the 315 grams is coming from.
@@treydrier3169 It's because he's gone for a 10.5. If he had bought a size 8.5 then they would have been true to the name.
I believe the weight is for UK size 8
