Thanks for the review Seth and Bonjour from France! If I may, you rarely mention the upper in your durability prediction. Something that I base my buying criteria too much on. I mean the rubber will last a long long time, the upper however will tear faster. That upper did influence a lot your review on the Lone Peak 6's durability but not hearing much about the upper anymore. Constructive comment and much love from France! Keep it up!
Thanks for the great review as always! Been a BIG fan of Inov-8 for years now for Obstacle Course Racing but agree do agree for longer trail efforts having a softer durometer rating would brilliant in the lineup for some of the Inov-8 shoes. QD: Also very hesitant on the metaverse. Much rather be in nature; running, feeling the sun on me, swimming etc. That said my wife and I do love a good video game session. For me there's gotta be balance between the two.
Big fan of inov-8 shoes here! Precisely because of their build quality. First found them when looking for minimalist cross training shoes a few years ago (shout out to the f-lite g 230s!), then bought the Roclite G 290s for breathable summer hiking. About a month ago began trail-running with them, in no small part due to this channel, and LOVE how much confidence the g-grip and gnarly lugs give me. Perhaps not quite the tackiest, but the durability is 100% there and the grip is still great. I have a habit of pampering shoes that cost something non-trivial, but all my inov-8s have proven themselves, even gone through the washer a few times (on cold), and I have a lot of fun knowing I can just throw them at anything.
Just bought a pair of the trail-ultra 270s on clearance to try something new and am excited to take them out this week!
Note to anyone reading this: inov8s tend to be lower stack and denser (definitely not "bouncy"), but also surprisingly flexible! This gives them a much more natural feel as you're still protected from rocks etc. but you get a good amount of feedback from the ground and your feet can respond accordingly. I really enjoy this (granted I prefer minimalist footwear), so as long as you know what you're getting into you should too. Just wish then tended to offer more wide options

Are those holes in the upper designed to catch sand and rocks? Do they work well?
QD: Seth, I would previously have agreed with you about zero interest in the metaverse, but I have recently found zwift to be a lifesaver in enabling exercise that fits around the new arrival of a baby and unruly work hours. You can snatch a decent mountain climb in a spare 40mins. I'd rather the real thing, of course, but that's not always an option

I am not overly excited about the Metaverse, but if there are cool experiences created I would like to try them. I live in Florida so being able to do virtual mountain runs actually sounds pretty awesome!
No matter what you think Seth. What's matter is if big tech. companies will be good enough in advertising that metaverse thing. They are very very good in promoting things you actually don't need just creating the feel that you miss a part of that "new". Whatever you think, you're going to like it.
I play soccer and the adidas mundial team is top of the line for turf shoes. The cushioning on that though is to thin and firm. I wonder if the parkclaw could be an alternative.
I have the Innov8 Roclite G275 & whilst the midsole is holding up extremely well, the upper is coming apart on both feet after only about 400k. Wonder if anyone else has had trouble with innov8 uppers?
I've had several Inov-8 shoes, and they have different kinds of upper. X-talon 212 type upper is durable, compared to X-talon 210 type which wears and tears much quicker. I still love the X-talon 210, but these are not shoes that will last very long if you run in rough terrain where the shoes need to support sideways load. The flexible upper is however comfortable, and allows for thicker socks in cold weather. Rocklite 282 gtx is one of my favorite wet winter shoes for this reason.
Qod: I’m with you Seth I’m not into virtual anything. I much prefer to get out there and up in the mountains or on the trails. Also I’ve never really been a tech guy

Seth, I was listening to an interview with Killian Jornet, in which he said that he does not run at all from Nov through Feb, during which time he just skis. Pretty interesting. Maybe some serious cross training in the future (?)

10:03 I can't. I am cross-eyed, I have alternating strabismus so only can use one eye at a time, I cannot use video headsets as they need both eyes for the 3D image.
Right before the pandemic they brought a set of MS HoloLens in to work for us to try, I had to have one of the other IT folks set it up :). I put it on but the image was totally distorted to me :).

The future. Some tech company will partner with an online fitness company (e.g. Pelaton) and create a 360 degree vr/treadmill experience. However this will be shelved due to cost, lawsuits for injuries and a lack of uptake as we all appreciate the great outdoors which is beautiful and free!

100% fits short and not true to size at all. My usual size US11 is unwearable due to big toe pressing against the front of the shoe, and I usually have an index finger's width of space in my other US11 running shoes that fit true to size (from all shoe brands one can think of). The short length combined with shallow n stiff toe box make you want to go up a full size at least. Shoetubers say this shoe fits true to size and it's mind boggling to me.

QD: The metaverse is the future. As for how I'll appreciate it, maybe an nft version of a finisher's medal (in addition to the physical one) ain't bad. But other than that, I'll go for a run outside instead. 😃
$180 makes no sense for a door-to-trail shoe.
Can get Salomon Pulsar trails, Ultraglides, Kiger 8s all much much cheaper.
I'm not into VR gaming and never paid it much attention. But my eyes and all my senses were opened to what it can do when I went to a VR simulation of a WWII bombing run in a Lancaster bomber at my local aviation museum. It was incredible and it felt like I was right there looking over the pilot's shoulder or the bomber's target site or in the top gun turret. So I think VR has great possibilities for education and therapy for special needs and many other uses, besides just entertainment.
that is awesome, my grandfather served in Halesworth in the 489 Bomber Group, flew 17 missions in the B24 liberator- I think the VR would send chills up my spine after hearing all the stories in my childhood. thanks for sharing!
