The new Inov-8 Parkclaw G 280 is a fun new do-it-all shoe that leans towards the more minimal end of the spectrum. But once I broke it in, it surprised me with its capabilities. What are YOUR thoughts?

I think the hint is i the name "Park" Claw .. its not a shoe for the Mountains .. anyone thinking of taking it there is out of their minds ... Its clearly for people who run to a park run around the park .. take part in those events held in - yep you guessed it a Park - not a "trail"

There must have been a pandemic sale on orange dye that the running shoe industry could not resist…

Always awesome reviews. When you do your fit breakdowns could you please include your shie size, foot width and maybe a true to size or small/big point too?

I don't see the "the shoe is just going to slip out from under you" in my experience with graphine outsoles. To me you are describing all Altra shoes I'eve ever tried but Inov8 have fantastic grip for me.

Thanks for the review. I bought TerraUltra G270 almost by chance was a bit skeptical for the first run but then truly love them. My experience: Inov-8 shoes do need breaking-in period. Run 800km and bought the same with the new name TrailFly G270. Again, I had to double check the size and was wondering if they not only changed the name… after 25km they again fit my foot perfectly and feel again at home. Graphene outsole, surely not the stickiness of Megagrip or La Sportiva Frixion. However not so far behind, much better than other options and the durability is amazing.
I will certainly have a try with the parkclaw. Cheers.

I’ve been a fan of the Parkclaws since the first edition. I love this new update. I know $180 is expensive, but I think the durability will make it worth it. I can see getting 700-800 miles easy, without too much wear on the outsole. Longevity is where the graphene is going to shine.

this specific colorway is being sold on amazon jp right now for about 12700 jpy, while all the other colorways are over 20000... don't know why but I happily picked up a pair

Ah the classic Graphene Slip, agree with you on the Vibram just being better and Graphene not living up to the hype.
However I am on my fourth pair of G270’s

Coming from the Roclite 290 hoping for more of the same with a little more stackheight to save me on the roads. Comparing the two in the same size, G280 feels to dense/snug in the fit with a lot more material and I would have to go up 2 sizes to get a enough wiggleroom for my toes. And that comes from my u-boat (long and narrow) shaped feet. Being a "4" on Inov-8 fitscale that seems wierd from what I've experienced before. I do however sense the potiential so will atleast have to try it out with proper size. Shame there are not enough shops who carry them yet where I am...

I've put well over 500km in my TerraUltra G 270s and I Iove them. I wouldn't be surprised if I could get another 300km out of the outsole and I'm really only getting some preliminary fraying on the underside of the upper from where I scrape through the brush. I know you've reviewed both, so how would you distinguish the two from each other? Does the Parkclaw offer anything that would make me want to switch? It looks maybe a bit beefier with a bit more cushion underfoot? I'm certainly not looking for anything maxed out like the TrailFly Ultra. My ankles roll right over just looking at those.

good review, enjoyed your comments. just a quality comment on video. maybe it was just me but your audio seemed a bit off?? seem a bit over heavy with bass maybe?

Mine lasted 315 Km before the toe cap and the overlays started to fall apart . Average grip, comfortable fit, good overal feeling. But its too expensive for a shoe that lasted 2 months :(

I wouldn't personally mark a shoe down for not having a rock plate if it's not designed for somewhere that needs a rock plate, i.e. the mountains or rugged trails. This is a road to trail, light trail, forest park type of shoe, so putting a rock plate in it would add to the weight and be a waste of time, oh and if they did that, Seth de Moor would mark is down for being heavy 🤣

    • @sdemosi

Completely agree. Inov8 don't lack for shoe options and the use case or this shoe does not require a rock plate.
They have shoes and boots with more protection in the rocfly and roclite ranges.
I find the graphene grip to be very good on dry rock but it's not as sticky as megagrip on wet rock. That was a bit disappointing for me as durability is important but not so much that I want to have an accident. If I was mostly fast hiking on technical dry terrains then I would choose an inov8 shoe over one with a vibram megagrip sole as the durability or the sole is much greater. Vibram has better options for mountain/hill trails in wet or icy conditions. Which surprises me because inov8 is based in the UK.

Great review, but I've been longing to ask how you "try" without a "buy" ? On a treadmill at the store?

    • @TheGingerRunner
      @TheGingerRunner  2 роки тому +2

Put em on your feet, see how they fit/feel and take em for a run. Lots of brick n mortar stores or online retailers have windows where you can try em and return them if you need for exactly this reason :)

Price point makes this one a pass for me - especially as a possible entry point for this brand. I know it is for a different use case, but heck this is only $20 less than the Hoka Tectonic X (which I also thing is a bit much as well)

Help! Al Quinn needs minimal trail runners as close as possible to NB Minimus shoes -- plot twist: size 13 4E (can squeeze into a 2E)
Also: is it true that gingers don't have souls?
