- This is a follow up video to the video I made testing the Lucas Stop-Leak product on my 2007 Subaru Impreza. I was so happy with how well that product worked, I had to try the transmission product too.

I took out 24 fl oz’s of trans fluid and put the full bottle in (24floz’s) in my 98 ford expidition and within one mile the transmission was shifting fine when i gunned it. Before it would stall and not shift at all unless i let go of the gas. This product really works
Does that have the 4 speed 4r70w? Because my 97 mustang shifts perfect when between 2k and 3k, but hard shifts of below 2k, and delays or doesn’t shift if I’m flooring it. I bought the car last year with 77k miles, I have 94k now, had that problem all year and wanna see if I can fix it before my transmission gets truly damaged or slips.
Thinking about trying some in line I'm not entirely sure if it's the original factory installed a transmission but it is a 4L 60e just again not sure what Janet is in a 93 Sierra

Youre right, It's pretty good stuff, a couple years ago I was driving my 05 ford f150 in Colorado it started shifting kind of wonky and, I stopped and checked it to find the level had gotten very low on the stick, I found an O'Reilly's and filled it up with regular atf and used the lucas for the last bottle, it seemed to like it, and it hasn't had that problem since thousands of miles later. It's not magic but I'd say it's well worth the 15 20 bucks if you have a transmission that may have overheated or ran low on fluid or a use for heavy duty vehicles that are run hard.
I'm having this problem with my 1996 Honda Accord V6 it has a rebuilt transmission in it. I've driven less than 5 me I'm still having problems so I really appreciate the video it's super helpful I'm going to drive it and just do the shift manually so that I can bypass the torque converter so it's not having the problem that it does indeed for the RPM keeps going higher for my car it doesn't go back and forth. The transmission has been replaced with a rebuilt with low mileage 3 years ago. The problem with it right now is that it was low on transmission fluid and I put a half a quart of the wrong stuff in this Honda it requires particular especially for honda. I thought I could come home and drain it out but it really started screwing up so that didn't help at all! Always check your transmission fluid before you put it in! * 3 I really hope this helps any other Honda person's car. Again very helpful super appreciate this
I have an 09 Forester with the 4EAT. 1-2 and 3-4 exhibit the same symptoms you're seeing between 3-4 but only when it's cold out. 230,000km I expect no less however I'm glad this worked! I will be giving it a shot before I schedule a rebuild. Thank you for your service!

@@Rustbelt_Research It definitely made a difference over the course of 2000km but I'll probably still need to rebuild it as Im sure it'll return somewhat with the cold weather.

It’s been a year since you posted this video- I have an 08’ 2.4 Accord with almost 220,000 miles. My transmission does the exact same thing when it’s not warmed up- from 2nd to 3rd there’s a mule kick of a shift. Once I’ve driven for at least 20-30 minutes it goes the whole day with no issues. It’s not the weather as I live in Malaysia where it’s always hot. Will definitely try this. Thankfully we have a local supplier. Cheers!

When I use Lucas oil products I usually fill my sink with hot water and let the bottle set in it awhile before using it. Worst transmission I used it in wouldn't do anything past 1st gear it would slip like crazy after the Lucas it shifted fine I got 6 months out of it until it finally went out all together.

On my car, the same issue with the torque converter rpm bounce thing. I’m gonna give this a go. Good to know not to expect instant results.
I get intermittent slip, usually during lockup, on the highway. P0741 code comes up. I'm going to try this. My transmission has 340xxxkm on it

What happened?
My 2003 Nissan Pathfinder R50 had sat for years before I bought it in October 2023.
It has been slipping a little here and there, add some fluid, it goes away, but i know there are some slow leaks.
I added Lucas™ last night, and it's the worst is been this morning.
Won't shift into 2nd or 3rf unless the RPMs are low (not much torque required), but as soon as I try to pull a hill, it goes up to 4500 RPM, and skips badly.
I have had a couple of sudden thump-shift occurrences, but mostly it drinks to have made things worse in 20 mi...
Will update if I can get back to this post.

@@Rustbelt_Research nice my saab 9-5 5speed auto has the problem they shift good up all gears no slip , but down from 2 to 1 is little bit hard , do you mean lucas can help, is an asin gearbox , oil changed for 2 weeks. thanks guys

i'm going to put this in my 1993 F150 today. Did fluid change yesterday and they have no more of the same brand ATF and I need at least one more quart. I hope it works

I had a 76 F-150 pickup back in 87k it to AAmco Transmission, they told me I needed a new one, instead I pumped it full of Sealer & conditioner until the leak stoped. The tranny out lasted three engines.

I used to drive a beater with a 4 speed auto that only had 2nd and OD. I would have to reverse over steep grades from a stop :-) There is a solution to every problem.

There are so many different opinions about this additive. Some people say it works well. Others say it leads to more problems down the road. One of these cons is the formula that is designed to recondition old dry seals. Basically, it causes them to swell up which helps them do their job better in their worn condition however this swelling can cause seal failure resulting in pesky leaks. Once this stuff has ran through the entire transmission coating everything the only solution to fix the unintended damage is to get a full overhaul.
On the other hand, how well this stuff works or doesn't is definitely dependent on the condition of the transmission's internal parts. If your plan is to eventually get a rebuild down the road but you want some relief from the annoying hiccups in the short term this stuff is worth a try. Just don't expect instant results. Give it at least 150 to 200 miles to do what it can.
I think that's a fairly good assessment. I'm not sure the Lucas product swells seals, I believe it supposedly stops leaks just by being thick, as thicker fluid leaks out slower than thin fluid.
It does legitimately seem to do *something* positive though. And with the lucas products, the risk seems low, I feel like the worst thing that's going to happen is it doesn't help.
I'm going to do this to my 2004 subaru forester. It has a super funky transmission. I also had a 2002 subaru legacy before this one & it shifted the same so I think it's very common for these subarus from 2000 to 2004.

Update: I just did a drain & fill on my Subaru & it shifts awesome.
good vid. SeaFoam TransTune helps the solenoids , I used Lucus and Seafoam TransTune together. I wouldn't of microwaved the LUCUS, put it in a pot of boiling water.

I did a 3x3 transmission slow flush. 2001 Nissan maxima JATCO RE4F04B transmission
since it at the time it started it just wouldn't move much at all what did I have to lose
202K miles drain fill 1 : aff that came out was very black, burnt but didn't small like anything.
Valvoline max life Sync ATF + bottle of lucus + top off ATF
it took something that barely would move to something that was drivable
1k miles later
drain fill 2 : atf that came out was still brown but with red tint to it.
Valvoline max life Sync ATF + bottle of lucus + top off ATF
it was alot better but at some point peaked out and still had a hard 1-2 shift
I then drained out 16 oz of atf and added 16 oz of seafoam trans tune.
it with in a few hundred miles was shifting alot better the hard 1-2 shift was gone , but then lost O/D

atf that came out looked pretty good and smelled like ATF
I then put in strait ATF. and could feel the transmission slipping and but 1-2 shift was no longer hard. just delayed
I then put in another bottle of Seafoam Trans Tune (i pumped out 16oz of ATF 1st) . that didn't provided any additional help
I then put in bottle of lucus afer pumping out 24 oz of ATF
that helped reduce the slipping and where things were left. its been 30K miles since. I looked at the ATF to see its quality and it still looks red. and "healthy fluid" still has P0744 and lost 4th gear.
its only for getting around locally. this was a temp thing I did to limp along so my son could save up for another car. but then used car priced exploded. alot has happened to the car since then most of it have been able to fix myself to keep costs down or find part online and have local shop install since I didn't have a Lift

Well, I tried this yesterday and I got a 07 Maxima with a slippin' transmission and it did the hardest slips once I hit exactly 115K miles, which shouldn't be much. So I tried this yesterday. I heated up the bottle with hot water, like youtubers mentioned. I test drove my car. The rpm's were a hint sluggish but not much. It did change gears and I did hit the gas hard once to go from 3K to 6K RRMs within minimal seconds. I did notice a difference in my car, about 65%. NOW, today being Day 2....I'm going to drive it more. I am nervous but I will say this - I enjoyed my drive yesterday....I even got confident enough to upset people at the red light with my car's Subs :)
Keep driving it. It took quite a bit of driving before the issues all disappeared. Probably at least 100 miles.

I wanted info, from the horse's mouth. I called Lucas and told them, I used the product...I like it, but am not 110% confident just yet and my engine was hot after the test run. We both came to the conclusion that I needed to put some quarts of CVT Transmission fluid. I put in 3 quarts. I will drive it later on today, but again, "I'm not getting overly happy just yet, but to cruise around in my car again, did feel good....almost as good as my womanizing days* :)
I’m pretty sure using it in a cvt is a no-no. I could be wrong
@@terryatpi - Let's say the year 2022, was a COMPLETE NO NO. Ok, fine the IRS was up my ASSSS for no good reason and that took about 6-7 months to get solved. Once that got solved I did have a mechanic test drive the car and I had to pay him to do a thorough check. I got a bad trans, radiator, sway bar and something else. *Butttttttt I have driven the car to local places and it'll run ok, until I play my subs extra extra loud or hit the gas too much.* On Veteran's Day I bought a 2016 Accord V6 Coupe and the car gives me issues, even though it has low miles on it. The stupid TPMS sensor keeps acting up, like tonight. In a PERFECT WORLD - If my Maxima never messed up, I would be the happiest man alive - A car that looks THAT ATTRACTIVE with the rims I got on it - The Pioneer theater system I have installed in it - I would've made it last forever but $4-6K in possible repairs and NO guarantees that everything will get fixed, pushed me to get a Honda Accord and I don't like Hondas. So I have both cars in my possession. With the little bit of Life that the Maxima has, it makes me SO happy driving it and upsetting everybody at the Red Light with my car rattling to the soft tunes = Sorry had to share tall tale

Sounds like you might have benefited more from the trans cleaner part of it, seafoam makes one you gotta change the fluid after tho don't do it to high mileage cars or cars with really burnt fluid/extreme slippage it'll just wash the clutch plates away
I used it on my 4th gen 4Runner it didn’t work and I think it made it worst when I gun the gas peddle it slip or lag 2nd time. Usually only slip on 1st gear

Great video. I guess I will add this Lucas trans fix again and let work in there longer and not expect to resolve in a week or so. I have an 01 honda Civic slip/flare when shifting between 3rd to 4th. I remove the external solenoids to inspect the filter screens and did not see many particles which means the clutch plate could still be good.
Definitely took some time in this car. It actually continued to improve after this video was made, and the transmission really shifts well now, about 10K miles later.

I have been using Lucas T-Oil for many years. My 2003 Durango has 220k miles and the Tranny is acting up. I will change the oil and add Lucas T-Oil. Lucas has now came out with Transmission Conditioner which I will try for the first time. I'm excited.

Yes it's a tough fluid and reduces the load and friction in the gearbox. It can withstand a lot of heat too. It's used to a more harsh environment anyway.

I bought nissan tiida 2007 model with 250kms milage. Sometimes shifting it from P to D was hard. I changed its transmission fluid. From Its fluid's condition it was clear, its first time change.
Now i am facing problem in reverse. When i apply reverse gear its doesn't work properly. I have to accelerate the race pedal then it works with a shock.
If anyone faced this situation please let me know what i should do. Will lucas work for me?
I own a 09 Lexus rx350 and the transmission really started acting up, I could not put any gas going from 2nd to 3rd gear because it would jerk from 2nd to 3rd, spend no time in 3rd and almost immediately jumped to 4th, shift into 5th gear was fine. I took out 24oz of transmission fluid, and put in the Lucas, and after that I did feel the difference, I could put more gas into those middle gears, and it would shift smoother, but it’s not gonna make it shift like brand spanking new smooth as silk transmission. For some people it’s like miracle oil, in my case it helped out a bit. Could also potentially be motor and transmission mounts that needs replacement, but imm not gonna spend $1000 into new Toyota motor mounts, I’ll live with what I could get for $16 😂😂😂
I always turned the Lucas upside down pouring it in and cutting the bottom off allowing alot of air flow

I was in the bathroom, pouring hot water on it. The hot water made the liquid flow pretty good. I filled up the car with this, in 20 mins. I'll guess if you don't heat it up - 40 mins or more.
Am getting mad at the used car I bought.. after driving it for a month,it slips to neutral when driving it.its a Toyota auris semi automatic 07. I changed the fluid and it was normal. After some days , it happened again. I will need to off and on the car before it will engage again in the middle of the road. Am Even scared to drive it now. I took it to the mechanic and he checked and said he can't find anything 😢 that I should keep on driving it and if it occurs again I should bring it. Can lucas do the job?
I put the bottle in hot water while I drained the transmission and it poured like gear lube.
I tried the Lucas Transmission Additive as well and my transmission stopped slipping. AT THE END OF THE DAY THOUGH, this additive is simply a fantastic temporary fix. It buys you time. Eventually, you'll have to either get another transmission or have your old transmission rebuilt.
It wasn't temporary for me, I drove it for quite awhile and the transmission shifting actually continued to improve. When I sold the car, the transmission was working very well, and I never heard any complaints from the buyer.

I have a 05 Subaru Impreza Japanese model right hand drive that slams in reverse when cold and slow shift when in drive only when it's cold after hot temperature it goes away. Could it be the solenoids and torque converter and will Lucas additive make it better?
Most people don't realize that they should flush the transmission cooler also when changing transmission fluid and filter.
It's not something people are taught, and - to be honest - most people can't even change their engine oil on time. I don't expect most people to change all the other fluids too.

I'm having minor issue on third with my suzuki liana/aerio. RPM raises when goin uphill without gear change, when driving 60km/h(38mph) rpm will be 2000 and it will slowly raise to 2250 - 2500rpm when going uphill. I've been wondering if this feature or fault? Just got the car like week ago. Otherwise gearbox works flawlessly.
That sounds normal to me.
Cars typically do increase rpms when going up the hill because it’s needing more power to keep or gain the speed it has. Going up a hill will decrease speed because… well obviously physics

@@Rustbelt_Research RPM raising without speed or gear change just seems off to me. I mean something has to slip that to happen? Some slippage in automatic transmission normal? I read torque converter slip should be below 10%. 2000rpm -> 2500rpm is 22% slippage.
Best way to add lucas is to leave bottle under hot water for a minute or so.
My transmission started slipping slowly because its leaking, will this fix the leaking problem as well as the slipping? My 2003 Ford f-150 slips on 1st and 2nd gear like crazy then catches fine on 3rd and so on.

I encountered a similar issue with my Ford Galaxy vehicle. It's important to note that noticeable improvements may require approximately 200 miles of driving, as the effects are not immediate. This recommendation is based on my personal experience.

The results are not instant. It needs time to run through the entire transmission and get between all of the moving parts. Results won't show up until at least 150 to 200 miles. Btw it's been 7 months. Did you give it a try and if so, how has it worked?

Try blue devil. Only takes a couple of Oz at the time .after you drive over 100 miles. if you don't see any improvement then add a few more oz
Would the Microwave breakdown/ weaken some of the compounds in the Lucas Trans Fix?
I highly, highly doubt it. From a scientific perspective.

It shouldn't. Your transmission will heat up the oil hotter than 2 minutes in the microwave.
Its kinda funny how to "fix" an automatic transmission you put thick stuff in it but to "fix" a manual I thin it with ATF
Excessive heat and friction are an automatic transmission's worst enemy. Thick Lucas ATF stop slip reduces friction which reduces heat. Worn clutches engage better when they are under less stress. Lucas ATF maintains a layer of protection between vital moving parts and does not break down under intense heat the way thin regular ATF fluid alone does. When my car is cold, the transmission shifts ok but once it reaches operating temperature the slipping starts.
Lucas ATF does not "fix" damaged internal parts. It makes it easier for them to function. To be honest, ATF should be thicker. The way it is made provides very little protection past a certain heat threshold. This is the number one reason automatic transmissions fail. When something gets cooked, it exposes how poorly ATF performs. It is not designed for driving under loads that are heavier than normal city and highway speeds.

I used a syringe use about only 10oz, it well help prevent major chipping.
Did you drain the excess out after adding the Lucas? Or does the Lucas dissolve in? Just thinking that the level might be too high adding that 700ml or so..

@Cap10323 I find it stupid on Lucas part to put on the bottle to just add it in without draining any fluid out? Everyone knows an overfilled trans is not a good thing! It might be fine if you're a little low on fluid but if your a tad on the full side this could be a problem.
What happens if you just stick it in overdosed.

Since you're adding fluid, do you have to drain some out afterwards?
yes definitely. Drain first then replace with the same amount you drained. Maybe have a quart of extra ATF in case you drain a little more than you wanted unless you want to reuse the old fluid
In the bottle says that you can add the 24 oz without draining any fluid

@Ivan Aguilar I'm shocked Lucas put this in the bottle. A slightly low fluid trans can easily handle this and maybe a perfectly filled trans (level rises under heat) but a slightly overfilled trans can cause problems if adding an extra 24oz of anything. This stuff does not dissolve or disappear. It is an oil additive. Key word is ADDITIVE, as in your adding fluid/oil to your transmission. Weird

I had already done that, along with a new filter about a year ago. I just didn't mention it in the video.
It factually works that’s not debatable, it just depends on how damaged your transmission is, if it’s too far gone it won’t help, if it’s slightly damaged it may make it feel new again
If it always had those issues then you probably should have just changed your transmission fluid.
Additives should always be a last resort.
They cause yours seals in the transmission to expand.

I don't understand. The bottle says don't use with CVT transmission . Subaru uses CVT don't they ?
Newer Subarus, yes. But this model used a conventional single-clutch type automatic. I would look up your specific model to determine the type of transmission before using this stuff.

Don't microwave, that'll break down the oil, but bottle in pot of hot water. Will not exceed temps..

No, I did a fluid and filter service when I got the car with about 100k miles on it. But before that, it had not been serviced.

Okay Mr know it all I have na 01 silverado LS 4.8 1500 I have only 2 gears and have travel in 2nd gear I can only go 30 mph..and rpms are at 2,000 which is what it would be at at 70 MPH. I'm burning highways miles at 30 mph. Now when I'm in 3rd gear sometimes the transmission wants to pull me then D is obviously 4th gear there's only 4 gears in it. So do you think that's a shift solenoid because my roma was going up and down at first.. other people tells me my clutch is bad nad my transmission is the nortious 4L60E
Any diagnosis is pure BS without tearing it down.
That one is notorious for losing third, usually due to a bad piston & clutches.
Since youve also lost 4th id reckon its a clutch issue, you could try this but at the end of the day your transmission has lost material and is on its way out, like sleepy joe.

I own a 09 Lexus rx350 and the transmission really started acting up, I could not put any gas going from 2nd to 3rd gear because it would jerk from 2nd to 3rd, spend no time in 3rd and almost immediately jumped to 4th, shift into 5th gear was fine. I took out 24oz of transmission fluid, and put in the Lucas, and after that I did feel the difference, I could put more gas into those middle gears, and it would shift smoother, but it’s not gonna make it shift like brand spanking new smooth as silk transmission. For some people it’s like miracle oil, in my case it helped out a bit. Could also potentially be a transmit motor and transmission mounts that needs replacement, but imm not gonna spend $1000 into new Toyota motor mounts atm, I’ll live with what I could get for $16 😂😂😂
