- Track from their Year Of The Flood DVD, live at Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness, 2007.
Lyrics:
How can't you see
The wilderness growing free
Time wounded and scarred
Stroking away the years
It's hard to believe
But memories are old ghosts
Mountains of black and gold
Sunsets falling over the moor
Oh take me there
's na horo eile , horo bho
's na horo bho , hillean o
's na horo eille ho , Take me there !
You take your dream
You make life what you feel
Appearances lead to deceive
This drama so far from me
Destiny
On facts aching wings
Wild geese fly low over your shores
Hearts sailing over the trees
Oh take me there !
's na horo eile , horo bho
's na horo bho , hillean o
's na horo eille ho , Take me there !
Chi mi'n t-eilean uaine
Tir nam beanntann arda
Ceo a'tuiteam tron a'ghleann
Na shineadh air do raointeann
These guys belong in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!
Such a long time gone... I can't believe how time flies. Runrig will always be one of the greatest live acts ever! Gifted musicians full of passion and filled with love of music. They achieved more for Scotland than any politicians could ever do. Real spirit, real love. And those fantastic fans...! You went to a Runrig in Germany, and you could meet people from Scotland, Denmark, Spain, France, Hungary - incredible! I'll miss Runrig painfully but their music will remain and survive. Music for the very heart!
Put Malcolm into a room with the like of Hendrix,Page, Clapton and Knopfler and he would definitely hold his own.👍👍
Don't know much about what Claptons like but Malcs just as nice as Mark Knopfler lol (met him once).
Such an underrated drummer, such an underrated guitarist.
Such and underrated band!
A number of years ago I saw a TV add for a whisky here in Johannesburg, South Africa. The scene was a pub and this INCREDIBLE guitar riff blasts across the room. I remarked to my wife and daughters who are all Highland Dancers that this music would be a superb piece to choreograph a dance to. This was my first intro to "Skye" after I later learned via my Scots friend (living in Gourock), was RUNRIG. I have all their albums ! I hear this music six days a week as it's part of warm up session at dance classes. Their last gig must have been a BLAST of note. We will be celebrating Xmas 2018 on Skye - fitting - THANK YOU lads, LEGENDS. Rob from S Africa.
In my opinion, as demonstrated here, Malcolm Jones is the finest rock guitarist to ever come out of Scotland. A totally superb performance!
And some of that is Welsh Musical Ancestry, he's got the best of all the celtic heritage. there. ❤
First saw Runrig in Broadford in the 70's. Loch Lomond in 91. Year of the flood; Stirling; 2007 was my daughters first concert - Runrig! They have been a soundtrack to my life - A Story indeed. They have a loyalty no politician, statesman celebrity could match.. Thank You.
Oh! and their music is stirring and phenomenal!!!!
Perfection! Pure perfection! Malcom's a genious! Entire Runrig band...No other bands or musicians will ever come close! Thank you for posting any and all Runrig! 3
Malcolm is pure Scottish
This is the best live version of SKYE ever played.
this and the one they played in 2003 at their 30th anniversary
Drummer not even sweating, legend
Malcolm never tries for the spotlight like most lead guitarists. When he starts playing it’s all about his guitar, and he puts more passion and his whole heart and soul into it. And fingers that move like lightening. He’s one of the all time greats.
Sooooooooooooooo going to miss Runrig, today, yesterday AND tomorrow x
Though Malc's still going rather its really just Calum and Rory who've just retired thats all when Malc played with Skipinnish for their 20th year ua-cam.com/video/3s-pp2DmNx4/v-deo.html
Love this song been a mega fan for over 25 years 😃
Good grief Malcolm rocks!
We will Never forget youse guys god bless 👏👏👏
Certainement la version la plus aboutie de ce titre avec les dialogues incroyables entre la guitare de Malcolm Jones et la batterie de Iain Bayne c'est phénoménal !
Absolutely Brilliant. Runrig calls me home 🇦🇺🏴
Goosebumps. Literally goosebumps. Runrig 4ever!!!!!!!!
This brings back all my memories of tramping all over Skye.
Donnie vs. Bruce? Who cares! When I see the live songs from the
Year of the Flood DVD, Runrig is simply great.
What a brilliant Drummer. He’s holding it all together
Underrated guitarist
MJ is a legend!
Played with Skipinnish for their 20th Anniversary here ua-cam.com/video/3s-pp2DmNx4/v-deo.html
Malcolm Jones is ONE COOL guitar player!
Chan eil a leithid ann ;-)
Still is playing as well here with Skipinnish ua-cam.com/video/3s-pp2DmNx4/v-deo.html met him a while back now, great lad is Malc!
Lovely song Gaelic music brings out the feel good Scottish side and makes you proud to be Scottish
This is one of my favourite Runrig songs.
The poor sods could never win. If they sang in Gaelic, the "management" or whoever told then to sing in English to sell product so they did and alienated some of the more trad fans. They really were between a rock and a hard place. Still one of the finest "folk rock" (whatever that really means) outfits ever. Superb musicians.
I am just so sorry I never got to see them live, I would have loved to.
Got to see them many times haha!!
Well, they have won my heat many times!
RIP Bruce
It was the wettest day in living memory at Loch Ness, they were into it, just very damp...
Goosebumps when Mhairi"s Wedding comes in
Still terrific, awsome,
I heard Runrig first time, live in Denmark in the late 80´s. That experience changed me forever
one of my favourite songs from runrig
Truly wonderful makes you proud to be Scottish
Whenever they play this live it is almost like you get transported to a world where nothing else exists but the music.
Yup put into words how I felt every time I saw this live was amazing haha!
Well like being on (if you've ever actually physically been there lol) Skye again haha, been to a wedding in Portree Port Rígh in Gáidhlig.
I can't believe that any troubadour of old suddenly brought forth to this time wouldn't give his left nut to be able to perform his music like this.
agreed
what a beautiful perspective!
Phenomenal musicianship. Bravo!
i like runrig so much---so great ;-))) thanks
mar sin leat - I think that means goodbye, never had or learnt the gaelic tongue - but will always love and respect everything you have done and will do. Tapadh leat. soraidh slàn le mo charaid, you have decided to move on, I will love your music now and always. Thanks for being there I
will hold you In my heart always.
Actually it means "the same to you", the usual reply when someone wishes you all the best etc.
The best British band around
Scottish not British but they are one of the best hidden secrets in music without a doubt and the fan base they have is freaking huge.
Pure deid brilliant. One of the most under-rated bands in the world, without any question. Malcolm Jonse? Up there with Eric and The Edge... oh and Pål Waaktaar-Savoy of A-ha. And don't scoff.
Met Malcie once :)
All the way back to Heartland
I remember when Runrig did this 20 years ago at The Sands Centre, they really rocked it... the new guy's quite good too :-)
Still miss Donnie Munro though....
Donnie Munro was my first introduction to Runrig... so yeah, I miss him too...
sounds more like a country version plus he can't talk Gaelic far less sing it properly
murray oman donnie quit, lets not forget.
Quite good? He's absolutely bloody awesome! Great sense of humour too, as was demonstrated with his Impeachment Song (before that got taken off UA-cam...)
This is an absolutely stunning & fantastic video & version of this song. I love Runrig. Ach, to be young once more & be able to hike on Skye even with a sprained ankle.
I LOVE this track. Had forgotten how great Runrig are! Alba gu Brath. : )

The party on the moor album is now the best in my opinion.
Nah dude, day of days is the best🖕😂But yeah, the party on the moor dvd is amazing too. They all are
Tobias Østergaard there all amazing but Party on the moor, In search of Angels and The Stamping Ground are excellent, but maybe I just like the latter for my interest in Space.
Tobias Østergaard see, Runrig are so good, their CDs can survive falling through earth Atmosphere
NEVER forget Mhairi's wedding
Named after Mary C. MacNiven winning the National Mód in 1934, actually was originally called Máiri Bhán but was translated into English least by think the 1950s by Sir Hugh Robertson and kept the Gaelic name for her.
How good is Iain Druming !
magic
I WAS THERE!!!
Me too
4.43 even the Frysian flag is waved, nice to see more people from where I live love this great band too.
now that's how it's done wow
soooooo good
super
Very nice
Malcolm Jones.......please teach me!!!
Blaze Video
EPIC! Hope they come back to Lewis for the festival.
@andrew8833 How very lucky you are! I just hope to get to see them in concert some time. I live in the U.S. We're going to Scotland in 2012, so I hope they will be touring when we go!
Malkie is the boy!!!!
Anybody notice they’re playing in the pouring rain?
Cò a sheinn ceòl creige anns a 'Ghàidhlig a-nis tha Runrig a' leigeil dheth a dhreuchd?
Great version of this song :) Out of interest what program did you use to rip it?
Was this live
Does anyone know what is the flag at the very beginning? Red and gold stripes with blue and gold floral border?
5:53 that motif is Runrig
The Strory run rig
They listened to Big Country.
Scottish nationalism is one that wont hurt anyone. How civilized
You know they are scottish because in every concert they play it is raining!
They would sound even better without a blacksmith on the drums.
the crowd are pathetic.
where you there ?
Hi Andrew - The crowd were magnificent!! I was there along with my 10 year old daughter. we danced in the mud and the rain... Don't knock it. x
