Ankle deep in slimey mud, water seeping up to my elbows (under my coat), a slippy long walk back to the car park and an even slippier drive out of it (tractors pulling out those who didn't make it)....FABULOUS MUSIC.....WOULDN'T HAVE MISSED IT FOR THE WORLD!!! Long live Runrig! (all the other performers were good too, particularly liked The Red Hot Chilli Pipers).XXX
This song touches my heart so much! I lived in the NW Hielands in my 20's & hiked hundreds of miles all over the islands & hielands in my 20's & 30's. Now, I'm growing old & my heart of olden glory grows young listening to this song. I love Scotland. I love Runrig. I now live in Missouri & miss both with this growing older heart of olden glory. Bless you, Runrig!
Une de leurs plus belles chansons et une de leurs meilleures versions, c'est tout simplement magnifique tant au niveau des voix que des instruments. Quels musiciens !
This is possibly the greatest clip of Runrig available. Aye Donnie was absolutely superb, but my god Bruce was the best replacement. That voice is absolutely stunning! I really think if it wasnt for this man Runrig wouldve been finished years ago. Stunning performance. As Runrig fans we have been blessed with two amazing lead singers.........
A band that have transcend the ages. Stayed relevant. The last dance was a farewell to the greatest Scottish band of all time. You are correct regarding Bruce and Donnie.
Hearts of Oak and Glory grow young. Faith in the Vision that Heals our Wounds,, the wind of the cross passing through your hand, the colours of Scotland Hearts of Oak and Glory forever grow young,
I love this band and it was thanks to Chris De Burgh that I got into them....funny thing is though, that every time I see a concert from North of the Border...it's always raining in it..Gonna miss them but loads of CD's and film to remember them by!!.."Hearts" always sends shivers down my spine111
I was fortunate to sing this song , and enjoy an awesome sandwich with a bunch of chickens at Drumnadrochit 2 years ago while hiking the Great Glen Trail . Last year I sang Loch Lomond at the highest point of the West Highland Way trail . Heading back to Scotland in June / 2020 to do Ben Nevis and Hike Skye . Any suggestions for this old boy to sing on this hike Love SCOTLAND :-)
@DirkjeA - Thanks again for your very kind comment. Thanks for being able to feel the emotions I was trying to convey in my initial comment. I hope your desire to one day visit Scotland comes true. I've actually hiked some 100 miles (160km) in The Netherlands. It seemed I was one of the few people walking, because everyone seemed on bicycles. It was so cool to be walking on paths which were below sea level:)
@1950BobbyF That is oké, better late than never ;-) But you are so right. This song is touching something deep inside you. I live in Holland, never been to Scotland (I hope I will somet day) but I can feel the longing, both in the song and in your comment, that is why I had to reply. Have a great weekend.
@1950BobbyF Your words are realy touching and show an emotional en tender man. Growing old has its charm if you can cherish such beautiful memories as you have.
@1950BobbyF hope you had a great time here and met nice people. Yes, the bicycle is our most used means of transport. Have to learn it at a very young age. I live in the very north of Holland, a region called Friesland. Nearby the sea and under sea level, very wide views, lots of sky and green meadows and cows. Love to walk there with my dog, mp3 player with great music just enjoying life. I will send you a video, shot in my neighbourhood with music by Jan Akkerman, famous dutch guitarplayer.
Why aren't there more songs like this in popular music? Songs with passion and heart, rather than just songs about how drunk someone got at the weekend, how much a 16 year old thinks they know about life or a novelty act with a terrible dance attached to it?
RIP Bruce. Shocked.
"There's thunderclouds..." children, when someone starts to sing these words in your hearing, shut the heck up and brace yourself for greatness. 💞👍
So strong singing
stunning version

Yes, hopefully healing will come soon. May a place of true Love & Compassion be the only reality.
