Love Hardy Eustace!
Underrated champion. Won at the festival three consecutive years, very game and tough. Rooster went early, Harchibald went late the following year. Neither would prevail.
Brilliant tactical ride form O dwyer.. He knew he couldn't go off at too hard a pace, so he kept a bit in reserve. Compared to the previous years race where the pace in front collapsed..
Hardy by name, hardy by nature. Such a lovable horse
Backed him the previous year when he won what is now the Neptune, but didn't fancy him at all for this. Great ride from Conor O'Dwyer....:-)
This horse certainly tested them at 33-1 and had that little bit extra towards the finishing line. Retained the title the following year.
saw Hardy Eustace and hurricane fly 6 months ago in national stud in their stables, such brave warriors, previlage to have seen them.
To this day I still think rooster booster win in 2004 was up there with the best of them.

Not Johnsons greatest moment...RB lost a lot of momentum 2 out being reheld up and subsequently lost a lot of gas after the last to a good stayer

I was there and backed Hardy at 40/1. Made my day, anyway. Ha
I had 400 quid on Rooster. Still hurts to watch.
