I can never stop watching this. Loved and followed this horse from seeing him win the County and even though there was no aires and graces about him there's no doubt he had a massive heart. I agree, you'll not and I have no seen such an impressive winner at the Festival.
Still my favourite winner in 25yrs of going to Cheltenham Festival. We had backed him in the County Hurdle the year before and followed him all season on the lead up to the day. 7/1 we got him at.

Was the second leg of a double that day, couldn't believe how well he travelled, one of my best racing memories of 40 years punting.
I'm not saying he's the best Champion hurdle winner there's ever been, but I'd say he definitely put up visually the most impressive I've seen by a long way.

@@roberto4001000 His first win was his most impressive for me, but I'd still stay this was visually more impressive...just. Definitely better than his 2nd and 3rd win. Don't forget I'm not saying he was a better horse.
He's definitely up there. You could argue that his short-head defeat in the Tote Gold Trophy when giving lumps of weight away was his most remarkable performance. Istabraq could never have given away weight like Rooster did. Istabraq was obviously a fantastic horse, but he didn't really beat much in his Champion Hurdle victories. French Holly was ok, but that was it. His other races were usually small fields with nothing to beat.
A substandard Champion Hurdle but still warms the heart seeing Rooster spreadeagle them, hard held. Absolutely hosed up. Not his fault the opposition were quite poor.

Was there that day, one of the easiest winners I've seen at Cheltenham, he was some horse on his day and had a big big heart

This was certainly one of the most impressive performances ever at Cheltenham-the horse travelled like a diamond-the great rooster!

One bad run at sandown in a race that didnt suit at all and he drifter too 6/1 for this was crazy

@@roberto4001000 Istabraq is widely recognised as arguably the greatest ever champion hurdler ever. He beat most of his rivals, who would also be sub standard by your reckoning by shorter distances . There was no second or third. Awesome. Backed Rooster and he funded a gold Miraculous Medal for me. Still love watching this. Destroyed them that day.
Looks like the horse that fell at the last was killed not Copeland.
Iberus was fine thankfully! Though looked terrible, went on to a long career with a couple of wins dotted in there. The worst part about it was that he fell jumping the already knocked down hurdle
On that day Rooster would have beaten any horse,yes including Istabraq ..

Don't you just love the way Rooster Booster was tanking along when jumping 2 out, he should have let him win on the bridle, A great horse.
