HARCHIBALD saunters to victory in the 2005 Bula (International) Hurdle under a superb Paul Carberry

- In a golden age of two mile Hurdlers, Harchibald was an infuriating horse at times but one of the most talented of his era. On this day, Paul Carberry delivered Harchibald as late as he possibly could and one could argue it was still too soon! A fantastic winner on this day in December 2005.

In my opinion Paul Carberry was one of the best horsemen I've saw in my time as a fan of horseracing & even though Harchibald just didn't quite manage to bag the big one at Cheltenham that year (2005) I still think that he was one of the great hurdlers, he had his quirks but he was low, fast, and accurate over timber with a very high cruising speed & the era he found himself in was highly competitive & what a sight it used go be when you'd see Harchibald arrive in behind with Paul sitting motionless cantering all over the leader's!! 💯👍🏇
Totally agree
My fave horse ever
One of the greatest Irish jockeys
Always wanted to see this. Intersky Falcon led from the front, Harchibald at the back. As the race developed, the latter was in touch with Intersky Falcon and another runner, somewhat interfered a few times going to the last and showed class, drawing away. Brit Insurance, now defunct, once sponsored at the Cheltenham Festival. Golden age of hurdling, yes, Harchibald, Hardy Eustace, Brave Inca, Mac's Joy, etc.
Hope all ok with u haven't seen any posts lately?
R.I.P Harchibald
Sigh, that Champion Hurdle earlier in the year, had been backing him on betfair for months, AND on the day, layed it all off in running so didn’t ‘lose’ a penny..sure didn’t feel like it, still hurts
Genius how he predicted the fall 2 out
¡El caballo ganador, expresa su alegría moviendo su cabeza para arriba y para abajo!
What a ride from Carberry!
Word of advice, if you are ever listening to somebody who blames Carberry for the ride in the champion hurdle, walk away cos they haven't a clue what they are talking about.
Well said Lem
¡Excelente y fantástica carrera
👍👍
Fantastic rider and character, Adam Wedge is the closest I've seen to him in terms of his riding style
At least the Irish jockey had a winner
Punters abused him like they did to Davy Russell at Newcastle
Punters know best.
AP would have won by 10 lengths on Harchibald. Class.
Cost me a bag of sand in champion hurdle harchibald
The jockey not the horse cost you with that one. Horrific ride
@@vincnet1982 😴 you’re obviously clueless when it comes to horses if you still think that 😳
Harchibald one of my favourite horses ridden by one of the best jockeys we have seen. If Harchibald wanted the race he could beat anything had a mind of his own and didnt always follow through. Paul didnt stop him winning Harchibald did that but on his day he was great
Had hardy eustace that day thought my money was gone when i seen carberry on the bridle but hardy was a tough nut to crack great race
