David Marks Nailing The Lead Guitar Rip Carl Wilson
David was their original lead guitarist. Carl played Rythm.
@@jerrybrownell3633Carl played lead guitar and David played rhythm guitar. David tried to play lead but every time he tried to Murray would fade him out.
No band ever made us dream of cars, girls, surf, cruising and living the American dream like the Beach Boys. They are America's greatest band.
Hello, good to me you here how long have you been my fan and what inspired you
That's the truth and there good friends Jan & Dean did a lot also Brian Wilson said Jan was very inspirational and they need to be in the rock and roll hall of fame

This is a testament to just how great this band was!! They sound just as good then as they did when they started out! 409 was and always will be my favorite beach Boys song.
Wrote its ticket to immortality with its win at the NHRA US Nationals when Hayden Proffitt 409 won the championship
John Cowsill is an amazing drumming. He nails it every time. And David Marks’ guitar playing is superb. His solo in 409 is blistering! And equally great on Shut Down and I Get Around.
Ah yes timbo they is good however Mike is great and does all the singing as usual....
Dennis was never a very good drummer but what he did do worked for their music.
David Marks, and original Beach Boy, really makes these sounds, sound Great!............Great Lead!
So nice to see David Marks rocking out with the Boys!
There's something about seeing Dave Marks back in the Beach Boys that just makes you feel that theirs still hope for the human race
You're right. I thought I recognized him.
Mike love or al jardine probably had nothing to do with his inclusion, but having him on this epic tour really seemed like a way to bury whatever hatchet may have existed.
@@Erix7810 Al Jardine is the heart & soul of The beach Boys and always was. Just ask him.
@@Erix7810 I always thought David was a great person . He tried to get along with everyone .
Agreed
Phenomenal sounding! These guys have been my all-time favorite band since I was 12-years old. If this concert was from 2012, then Mike Love was 71-years old, Brian was 70, and Bruce and Al weren't too far behind. David Marks sounds fantastic on lead guitar also and made Carl proud I'm sure. RIP Carl and Dennis.
😄👍
Mike 82'now I think and he still sounds good. He made the beach boys
Been mine since years old. Mike is a great singer!
I'm 71 too and feel the same way since age 12
Art: You left out isn't that Matt Jardine (Al's son) on the solo high parts? (Brian can't hit that at age 70 plus)
@@bt3845 That's Jeff Foskett, who toured with the band from December 1981 until mid-1990 and then recorded and toured with Brian from 1999 until the reunion tour (and then from after the end of the reunion until 2014, when he joined Mike and Bruce). Al's son Matt has toured with the band, but he was not with them for this reunion tour.
from the. 1960s they were the best and always be the best
Beach boys still rock better than ever. What a joy they are. God bless them.

Mike Love keeps the original sound alive .. he is always present and energetic on stage and does justice to Brian Wilson’s Music
So well put
Billy Noel did a tribute to Brian Wilson in a concert doing the song Don't worry baby. Fantastic arrangement. Wilson is for sure in genius catagory.
He sounds great on this
Mike Love was a worm! He tried to take advantage of Brian for years when Brian was in therapy. Love has been riding the coattails of Brian for so damned long. He makes me sick!

They're so freaking good, it's WEIRD.
Cant beat 50 years of experience Beach Boys Fan Forever
Im 45. BB, Four Seasons, and Whitney Houston are my favorites
They had a really good drummer, David Marks’ lead guitar was blistering, plenty of backup singers and extra rhythm guitars to fill out the sound, and Mike Love has taken good care of his voice into old age.
@@jefffinkbonner9551 John Cowsill rocks. David Marks is in fact the original lead guitar on many of these songs. He’s awesome.
These dudes still kill it!!!!!
Forget personalities and just listen and watch. They have changed lineups over the years but always the music remains as good as ever, if not better. Thanks to all the 'boys'
True, any band, no matter who, are going to have personality issues when together since the early 60's. You would, I would, no matter what after that many years. 60 years!!
Just enjoy their great music, it is just beautiful!!
Agreed
Love 409 here!!! Mike sounds terrific!! ❤️❤️😎😎💕💕
Hello, good to me you here how long have you been my fan and what inspired you

What a difference California is from then to now, where have they gone?
THE BEST BAND OF ALL TIMES
When my daughter was barely old enough to crawl I would cruise around town with her with the beach boys blaring on the stereo and know matter how tight I'd strap her in her carseat she would get loose and stand up in the passenger seat and dance. It's not easy trying to steer, shift gears, and hold on to a diaper all at the same time. That was 35 years ago. I miss those little drives.
I see what you mean, man.
Oh my gosh! I love this!
💖
Little Deuce Coupe was was my first album. I played the hell out of it. And I still have it today. I think it is in better shape than I am. Nothing like the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean. Those were the summer days with our portable phonograph playing 45s over and over in our garages.
First listened on a 6 transistor radio. Now listening on an iPhone with 8.5 billion transistors. The soundtrack of my youth!
I'm 20 years old,and discovered The Beach Boys around 10 years ago. And I just loved their music and lots like them. And since then,I've fell in love with the music and the era. Long live the Swingin 60s
Seriously Clinton

He is indeed. He always was the heart and soul of the Beach Boys.
Love these guys. Fricken Beach Boys rule !!!!!
ALL AMERICAN PATRIOTS........PATRIOTS11111GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
I had a 1970 Olds 442, with posi traction, hood scoops, a Hurst 4 speed and a 411 rear end. The Beach Boys were ALWAYS plugged into my "8 track". Thanks for the memories guys.
In 64, no 409 but a 1959 Impala with the 348 and 335 horse engine, Bog Warner 4-speed. What I wouldn't give to just have that Impala back for one day. Cruising and listening to WLS out of Chicago with the great D.J. Dick Biondi, what an era.
@phantomblott1 I'm from Chicago too! Remember super CFL and Larry Lujack? Those were the days!
The backing musicians are excellent and does keep the Beach Boys Sound refreshing! Fantastic!
John Cowsill killing it on the drums. I love that guy.
He’s not as good Dennis Wilson but he is still amazing
Japanese discovered the contagious rocking sound of the Fabulous Beach Boys.
That is David. Along with Carl, the original lead guitarist. He's playing his riffs.
Everybody can dump on Mike Love, but the Beach Boys are not, and would have not been the same without him. He is also responsible for a lot of the lyrics.
Love pretty much dumps on himself. The Beach Boys would've done fine without Love. Without Dennis, there would've been no Beach Boys. He was the only surfer in the band. He was the one who wanted to call themselves the Beach Boys, and sing songs about surfing, and the California beach scene.
Pretty much.
Mike is the living personification of the term "mixed feelings".
No doubt but that he is and was an absolutely essential part of the band. And at the same time he's always been a real jerk.
There are certain personalities who are good at leading groups. Yet at the same time have twiated motives. Roger Daltrey was a tremendous jerk to his band mates in The Who. At various times he'd physically beat his friends up just to get his way.
Oftentimes a leader must be a real prick. His fellow musicians are often too shy to step up to the plate and demand things.
Thus?
Enter pricks like Mike. But he's mellower now. Time does that. And the. The real paradox is his 50 year association with meditation. It's hard for me to understand how after learning so much about peace and harmony that Mike can still do vile things. Like sue his own cousin Brian. More than once.
Basically Mike learned to be a bossy guy from his bossy mother and uncle Murry. Murry was essentially a master of abuse. But he supported his boys and got them in the door of Capitol Records. With such violent tempers? The words,
"Give the Devil his due"
Are perfectly appropriate. Mike Love even agrees with others he has admitted,
"If you love Brian? I'm the anti-Christ". I think he may even revel in being considered evil. As do all branches of evil.
Perhaps the best term for him is,
"Walking cognitive dissonance"
Thanks for that Jorge.
Didn't Murry steal the rights to most of their songs at one time ?
amazing this group...staying together...even when old...and amazing that anyone, in Japan would be interested, in these songs...
I thought the exact same thing. Especially about the young people in Japan. But the Beach Boys have to make a living so they tolerate each other.
and hopefully enjoy.....whatever that they get out of this performance...
Japan still is largely affected by the US. And vice versa
They love our culture ..

So happy to see Brian (and his clan) at this gig: all the survivors on the same stage in 2012.
Mike was always my fave! But I am really enjoying John Cowsill on those drums!😍
Amazing voices still!
Great sound here - thx for the vid. Let’s give kudos to Matt Jardine for nailing those high vocals. Perfect. He is a true Beach Boy and has toured and recorded extensively with his dad and the team. He and others should carry the surfing 🏄♂️ music torch long into to the future. God knows BB music will always be welcome here on Earth and up in high heaven, forever. Cheers!
Matt Jardine isn't in this video. Jeff Foskett, who toured with the Beach Boys in the 80s is singing the falsetto part.
Matt sang high falsetto when Foskett passed away.
Amazing how great they sound!!!
That harmony is still one of a kind....makes my head phones rumble.....oh yea!!!!
he's here now,I think...yeah,the guitarist with the sunglasses...lived across the street from the Wilsons and Murray fired him but he came back later.
I like Al Jardine,the underwritten B B...u rock dude...we knew it
Grew up with the Beach boys have every single album ever made… It’s been 50 years and they are as good as ever rock on God bless you

I grew up with this great music......Thanks, Beach Boys.....and Jan and Dean too!!!!
Just wondering - how many of those young Japanese girls have a clue what a 409 is? Or a Super Stock 413 Dodge? LOL But what they do know is that this is pure classic American rock and roll and they're lovin' it.
They know what there are in Japan in order to Graduate from college you must know English. They know the history of our cars and racing and that Chevrolet is the winningest brand in history.
世界一イカしたおじいちゃん達
I stayed with my Great Uncle and Aunt in Creston Iowa and one of the kids had a Chevy with a 409 with dual four- barrel carbs. Awesome machine! At the time I drove a 53 Chevy with straight six and three on the tree; but it was a whole lot better than walking!
I also remember hauling butt with my girlfriend in my Dad's 61 Ford Galaxy to Shutdown back in 1963. Great music great times!
I admire their voices, especially Mike Love. Awesome!
they don't sound any different than they did 50 years ago..............
Damn.. they sound sooo good.. age has not stopped them.. glad to see david marks there too..hes awesome
Autotune corrects for pitch problems and background multitrack provide sounds that cannot longer be sung or played. It's still amazing they can deliver
So well.
December, 1977. Mac Court at the U. of Org. All the Boys were there, including Brian. There was even a string section. Absolutely the best concert I was ever at. I saw them 2 other times, but this one was the best. I was a radio DJ when they first hit the airwaves and it was always better for the show when I played the Beach Boys current hit.
The great John Cowsill on the drums. Epic.
Love car songs and the Beach Boys.... What a great time to be a teenager, no cels phone etc. no care in the world but music...Stay safe everyone, from Canada
I've just read Mike's autobiography. A really good book. He gave/gives the BB a certain sound and feeling.
Creepy thing is they sound the same as if they still were in the 60s... Which is GOOD.
Mostly because they have added players and singers to match all the great studio musicians and vocal overdubbing they did ... which is OK with me!
I love it! Born in 92 so it takes me to the 50s & 60s
@@lancebenson2790 man, I swear I was more prepared for the 60s than the 00s because of the music I grew up on. I was born in 86.

The way they sing and play - at the same time - is nothing short of incredible. Without the BB's, the world of rock would be just as we know it had to be.

👏👏I've only just gotten into the Beach Boys's after watching their concert at Knebworth and I don't really understand all the hate in the comments towards Mike. Maybe someone can explain?
Fast cars! drag races! What a time we had! nothing like it today!

Hello good to me you here how long have you been my fan and what inspired you
Do you think anyone in that crowd knows what a 409 is ?
kblopp Probably more, since they paid to see the band, than in the average millennial hand crafted cocktail hangout.

ah-so we love 409 clean bathroom good
Duh, do you think Americans would know what sushi is? Or chopsticks?
No
I sure do!!!!!!!
This is just pure magic. Could listen to it all day. Won't ever see the likes of this music again.
David Marks good to see him back in the original group!
Great beach band. Picture yourself sitting at the bar at the beach and listening to The Beach Boys 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🥃🥃🥃🥃
Still bloody amazing after nearly sixty years.
Great fun! I have some of their 45’s. I never tire of the Beach Boys. I’m 67. I predate the British Invasion. No regrets.
This is unbelievably wonderful...suddenly my 73 year old self is 36 and I'm dancin'...I wish!!
It gets me how people idolize Brian Wilson and trash Mike Love. BW is nothing more than a Disney mechanical bear on stage, alternating between different levels of his mental illness. ML has always supplied the energy of the group and its music. Anyways...all the BBs are for years is a cover band of several musicians who can duplicate the BB sound with a few of the original stiffs headlining them.
They still have it after 50 years!!!...Little AL cool as ever!...PLAY...it...LOUD!!!
unfortunately they are split in two bands now.
Yes, Mike Love stupidly quit the reunited band so he could keep playing county fairs and 1000 seat amphitheatres with Bruce Johnston.
I take it you haven't been to one of their concerts lately. The Rose in Huber Heights Ohio, sold out 3 years in a row-5,000 people.
joe fuller Mike and Bruce just played a 1000 dear theatre here in Santa Barbara, CA. You actually prefer Mike and Bruce over the real band?
I will be going to my 38th BB concert in July. I have seen many different groups. I saw the 50th twice, and it was great. Many of the band that did the 50th tour are with Mike and Bruce. I know the musical director and lead guitar Scott Totten, the are all fine musicians. If you talk about originals Brian hasn't sang the high notes for years, but still has a decent voice. There sound is that of the BB in the 60's. I know they do smaller venues, but the fact that they are still out there is amazing. Bottom line it's the music. I leave every concert with a smile on my face. Checkout the Fendertones You Tube.
Shut Down's lyric is so difficult to memorize. I admire Mike Love for singing it with a clear articulation.
Because Brian Wilson returned to a stage.
I think everyone is glad.
Mike Love is being sung vigorously.
Came here looking to see if they sounded the same as they did in their recording that came with the Good Morning Vietnam soundtrack. They didn't disappoint.
David was the kid across the street that Murray hated...look who has the last laugh
I can't watch the Beach Boys without thinking about the Guitarist Carl Wilson
dam ! who is playing the sticks? Looks like John Cowsill.
Yes man. Is Cowsill. He destroyed it
fantastic....keeping the magic.
Onya, Beach Boys 4 ever!!!!!!
John Cowsill on drums. Bruce Johnston, David Marks, Al Jardine, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al's son on one of the guitars.
besides Brian and Carl Wilson,my favorite Beach Boy is Al Jardine
Just read Mike Love's "Good Vibrations" bio and it is an excellent read! Suggest it for all Beach Boys fans. Like going back in time - the time of my youth being raised less than 5 miles from these dudes and cruising Hawthorne Blvd listening to "Shut Down" and "409". Mike Love, thanks for the great music and the great read of your fine book.
Your right Mike Love book is a excellent read. I enjoyed it so much!!!

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. As they always were since my childhood.
Like him or not they wouldnt be the same without Mike. Seriously miss Karl and Dennis
This is a style of music that screams the lost lifestyle of Southern California........
Still sound great 50 years later!
As long as there are Summers the Beach Boys will live forever......
The Japanese have very good taste in music. Salute!
I have a 70 impala I put a 409 in it and a 4 sp
thats real fine
I graduated in 1965. There was a quiet little girl (blond) that drove an impala with a 409, that came standard in it. It must have been her dad's. She drove it like old lady's drive Cadillacs. It had the emblems on it. White was the color. The rear of it was rectangular , and looked chopped off, but it was designed that way. It was a beautiful car. You do realize that General motors or Chevrolet designed that engine for DumpTrucks- really. Gobs of torque at the lower RPMs. The torque fell off at the other end.
Saw the 50th Tour. They were awesome. Not a dry eye in the place when they did God Only Knows.
That song will forever be Carls.. Miss him and Dennis so much
It's amazing, same voices than 50 years ago, Beach Boys for ever!!!!!
Memories of cruising Hawthorne Blvd looking for street racing back in the day... Witch Stand in Englewood to A @ W in Hawthorne.. what great memories. I wish I could have afforded a Chev 409 duel quad beast. What a great sound those big block engines made. What horrible gas mileage too. You could hear the gas sucking into those toilet bowl sized carbs. But gas was cheap, so what the hell. Beach Boys part of the sound track of my youth. Thanks guys.
