My weekend riding buddy, who often rides with me on our local trails, has passed a couple of years ago. My riding buddy also happens to be my wife. As such, watching you and Yuka somehow brings me to a smile whenever I watch your vids. I have always appreciated Yuka's tenacity and bravery, though at times carelessness does yield somewhat funny results. Really love your vids.
As a local in Alaska this was super cool to see, thanks for making this video. It's too bad I didn't get to see you guys in the slopes, epic video though.
I spooked a sleeping moose in the Hilltop area in like 2016 I think. I was riding down the trail at like 11 PM (sometime around Summer Solstice so it was fully light out). All the sudden a moose just stood up out of a bush barely a meter from me. I almost hit a tree and sprinted the whole way back to my car. 😆 Really love this video series!
As someone from Alaska, I'm always excited to see these trails showcased on UA-cam. I am disappointed though that there isn't any footage here from the Hillside Trails (not hilltop)
I managed to get charged by a moose in fernie last year after coming up on a mom and kid on a climb. Those muscle-y bodies are well worth avoiding. Pretty easy to get away from but not trying to pushy luck haha.
As someone from Anchorage, I haven't been able to bike in 2 months because of weather. We have had about 3 days since mid July without rain. non. stop. rain. Also I see moose in my backyard all the time, so it was pretty amusing watching you guys find them
I love watching these wild adventures! Not just the best parts of the trip but all the random things that occur along the way. What a great tour of Alaska!
Keep up the good work Eric and Yuka, Your channel is more than mountain biking now, Great drone footage, I'm surprised that you haven't crossed any grizzly though lol
You guys should have brought a guide to Healy! There are some gnarly trails there, but yes, some of them are overgrown quite a bit in August. Also - I'm still waiting for the rain to end... Might just have to say screw it and ride Aly tomorrow anyways. Closing day and there's already snow on the mountains!
Your drone shots over the lost lake area show what a truly beautiful area that is. I have traversed that trail more then a dozen times over the years and I never tire of the views.
Hey Eric, I watch a lot of youtube and wanted to let you know I immediately click on your videos because I know it will be interesting, well thought out and have amazing cinematography. Just like this one! Love watching you and Yuka, as a mountain biker and avid traveler it's super inspiring to see some of the spots you ride in the far reaches.
On your lift ride, I noticed that you were using a gimbal that looked similar to the Hohem iSteady that I currently use. If so, would you mind sharing your gimbal settings from the app? Mine seems to have an issue with leaning hard into corners where it sometimes just lags behind and then snaps back into a forward facing position which can be quite distracting :/
Wow Eric from 8 :13 to 8:32 is the best part of the video for me absolutely stunning And at 12:16 I wonder how many free riders have thought screw this I am going left lol
@@darkmann12 lol yes and after that the screaming starts the whole way down and then the moaning Going back up because the walk is going to be agony and then it all starts over again lol
I live in the Interior of BC, and sometimes I see moose in the mountains by my house Glad you guys got to enjoy the magic too! They really are wonderful to see.
Seriously it is points like this 12:35 that has me thinking that mountain bikers are some of the craziest people alive when it comes to the things they will do for fun. That being said love the content and always enjoy watching you and Yuka explore our lovely Province and beyond.
This is exactly the way the weather works here in Scandinavia too, I'm Swedish, but live in Norway - So if you ever come here (or to Sweden), perhaps not during these months. Or well, August is great until about the 20th-25th. Just a tip!
Loving the diversity of your channel Eric. Had to laugh at the moose exchange commentary between you and Yuka over the 'moosely' body...lol. Alaska is definitely an experience, awesome that you got that checked off the list!
Moose are a common sight on my local trail networks here in southern Wyoming too, I came down a fast downhill section a couple years ago and came across a cow and calf in the middle of the trail, stopped maybe 10ft from them and quickly backed away, thankfully the cow didn't get aggressive, though I did have to backtrack and take a different trail down. Moose are also to Trestle bike park (Winter Park, CO) what bears are to Whistler. I remember seeing a huge bull moose walking right down the middle of Rainmaker (the main jump line of Trestle) one day last year
Thank you for visiting, I'll share some moose or yak when you return. If it's any consolation, I'm writing this on September 14th and it's still hasn't spotted raining since July 12th.
I wish folks would stop glorifying doing things that are super risky. I feel like rather than riding on cliffs, it would be good leadership to walk it and say in the video 'It's not worth risking our lives, so we walked this part.'
I live this kind of video. You have all the riding you could dream of in it, some beautiful landscapes and scenery and an amazing story that just gives me the itch to get too Alaska somehow. Those back country trails you ride are amazing too, picturesque 👌
We don't have nearly enough miles of trails, we have a few decent ones, but our bigger trails get overgrown so quickly in the summer that they become impassible in a few weeks without brushing, but that only happens once every few years. It's a constant fight to clear the brush. The winter is actually better for riding here IMO, you can ride more places. I go down to WA for excellent riding.
Nice video! I wonder when you might come to california again? There’s a pretty cool lift access bike park called snow summit in big bear, would be cool to seee you ride there
That sign said moose calving season is late from late May to early June. Had you got that close to the moose with the calf when it was just born it might have been a lot more aggressive.
I would way rather see a bear than a moose on the trail. I've been up close and personal with moose a few times and it's freaking terrifying. Moose kill more people than bears.
If you get a moose in the wrong season, definitely more dangerous.. Though I think you're more likely to die by hitting one with your car then having one attack you...

If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason for your wife's passing?
Thanks for sharing J. Good reminder to give our riding buddies a big hug, if we still can.
As a local in Alaska this was super cool to see, thanks for making this video. It's too bad I didn't get to see you guys in the slopes, epic video though.
Same, I’m from up here too. Wish I would’ve caught up with you guys and said hi

Man this was a really great short film. Beyond the riding, just really great storytelling and cinematography. Awesome job!

Yuka's face when Eric said "I wonder what he'd taste like" xD In all fairness I've had Moose burgers and they were nothing special.
I'd have to disagree with your taste assessment. Moose is delicious.

Yeahhhhhhhh I was waiting for a video from BCPOV 👏🏼👏🏼
There’s so many moose in Newfoundland
Those drone shots were amazing!
amazing video, what drone do you use?
Nice shots, I will put them on my channel
I couldn't thank you more for this content, I am now saving up for my first MTB! :)
The ultimate skinny ride. Yikes! Glad Yuka's brakes were working properly again!

Rode Aleyeska a few years back. The black trails were steep tech! Brother went OTB going like 30mph on a skinny through a tundra area. ‘‘Twas a blast

Dang I’ve ridden ridgeline trails before but that’s crazy. Reminds me of your footage at Leavenworth but a bit sketchier!
There is no way I could do the knife edge ridge , the consequences are insane!
Be glad you're not here right now, calling for 5-8" inches of rain in Valdez next 3 days...it's def been a wet one last 5 weeks!
The drone shots just keep getting better and better.

Bummer about the washout. And 1,000 times no to that ridge line.
Told ya! It wouldn’t be a ride thru Kincaid without seeing those Swamp Donkeys! Time for me to come visit your town!
Great vid guys! The irony, could have used some of that rain on Vancouver island in August.

Cause it's the Mud Season! Good stuff, keep it coming!
Great video, you nailed the music choices too. Drum solo on the exposed cliffs was a nice touch 🤘
Filmed like a documentary. Absolutely love your style. Nicely done!
Minute 2: 49 Typical bike riders.....ignoring stop signs.
I wonder what he tastes like, how could think of eating Bullwinkle. They are so cute
The funny thing is that for large parts of May and June, it was much warmer and sunnier in Alaska than it was in Seattle and Vancouver.
When I was there I ran into all kinds of moose on the pathways. They're big, kinda like a camel minus the hump.
“Spicy” I was like “go back!”. Sketchy!! Great video.
I think I recognized that trail in FBKS. I even recognize a stretch I helped clear.
Wow! Great video especially on the moose experienced 😅
Amazing videography! WOW!
I love your vidios bro
Don’t need to go all that way to see moose. I ride by them all the time in Calgary.
Great video guys thanks....from Australia.
Loved the cinematography and soundtrack!!!!
Chocolate moose.
Sorry, I couldn't help it. :)
Lost Lake is one of the most picturesque rides I’ve ever done. Definitely a good one
Eric, they're delicious! Very lean, but prepared correctly, a delicacy.
That sign said moose calving season is late from late May to early June. Had you got that close to the moose with the calf when it was just born it might have been a lot more aggressive.
gotta be careful with moose, almost as dangerous as grizzly bears.
You gotta come in June next time. All those bike packs on the kenai get super overgrown after that.
Why do you say Moose? That is an elk!
It's crazy that you're the only commenter that knew this
As I say, ''If you're not crashing, you're not going hard enough."
What local have you directions to the knifes edge? That’s a hidden gem.
You should fix her brakes. The brake lines alone look like they've been eaten and crapped out by a bear.
i live in alaska the big wod jumps at hilltop are my faverate jumps in town
In Alaska you can never do it "all"...welcome to the party.
Whoa.... Looking for a moose with a chin mount has made me woozy...
Epic video Eric. Well done.
such a high quality vid. thank you. just subscribed.
I've been married to my Japanese wife for 51 years. She's a real treasure.
I was just in Winter Park, Colorado. I saw moose almost daily.
You guys should have gone down to the beach at Kincaid, the view is amazing
as someone who grew up in Juneau, i dunno if i'd even call August "summer"
Do they know how dangerous moose can be? They charge you and ram you. They get bigger than horses.
So from what i have heard is that moose are mean!! They are supposed to be worse then bear. I agree though that seeing one in person would be awesome.
First 👍
Ah come on, as a welsh man listening to mountain bikers moan about a bit of rain makes me cringe, get over it and get on your bike.
I live near Cherokee NC, and last time i went up there, i saw a massive Elk that had at least 7 foot wide antlers. id love to put him on a wall.
I have just bought a deviate frame how have you found your time on it Brian?
