E, I totally agree with you on this one, and I was so looking forward to this. I'm afraid that it was a bummer on a large scale when I discovered that there was very little in the story that I liked. Holly (the lady) was not like her usual self imo. And the plot was full of forced coincidences that were mostly nagging and made me almost mad that King hadn't been thinking twice before getting this amateurist and unsatisfying story on the shelves.

  • @bogglqueen

Thanks for the heads up. No way in hell I'm going to read it

From your description, I assume a recurring conversation point is the morality of masked vs unmasked serial killers

  • @pearcegreatesteverleftback03

Well Trash, I Loved this book! The only disappointment for me was that the Harris’ weren’t shapeshifters, IMO it would’ve been better than just plain OAP serial killers😎👍🏻

  • @taske195

That's why I love your reviews Ed, because you don't over-calculate, you just say things like they are. I also didn't like the book, I hope we get a better story from Uncle Stephen next year.

  • @ceeece

I agree with you but I have a hard time leaving a King book unread. So i did finish it. Apart from covid every page and the Trump bashing (needlessly in some cases) I ended up enjoying it. I really had to overlook the preaching to get through it. You nailed it when you said it was like his Twitter feed. I thought the same thing.

Wow, your lighting and video look great! I'm only a few chapters in on HOLLY and yeah, the Covid stuff was tough to get through. TO THE LORN!!!!

  • @justafidemyself

I thought it was one of his better stories actually 😄 I really liked the serial killers and thought it was really original. I thought the Covid really help make it more realistic and it's a fun timecapsule for later on. The ending was brilliant in my opinion and the way Holly managed to get out of that situation.

Nice video E. Congrats Bookable! ❤❤

Personally enjoyed it. Like Holly as a character and her quirks. 4 stars for me. Good video.

  • @juliewashington2253

Totally agree with you. Big eye rolls at the beginning. I did carry on though and quite enjoyed it.

Stephen King's politics are opposite of mine but I never minded him adding them to his stories. However... COVID Politics?? Yeah, commenting on the era in which the story takes place is one thing but this dates itself horribly. And many things haven't and won't age well.

Gwendy's Final Task suffered from the same problems. Covid was mentioned way too much for not even being integral to the plot and Gwendy becoming a senator allowed for too much water boarding of poltical lecturing. Im sure King had little to do with Gwendy 3 but i kinda felt the same about Elevation. His subtlety and finesse has definitely been lost over the years

I love your Halloween backdrop E. It's spooktacular. 😁 A shame about Holly being Preachy. I don't think I'd enjoy it either.

  • @Jennyonfire

I appreciate this. Definitely won’t go getting to it anytime soon.

  • @-Reagan

Wow what do you know - hmm exactly what I thought it was going to be from the very beginning.

  • @joeconwayr

I finished it, but really struggled. I agree with everything you said. One of his worst since sleeping beauties and elevation.

  • @bradpeltier5624

I’m on the same side of the aisle as you are and I agree. It does get a little better as you make your way through it. IMO Emily Harris does becomes a memorable villain.

  • @angelaholmes8888

Just finished reading the book i did like it i wasn't bothered with the politics or covid being in the book
