THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON is a gem of a novel, a tale of a young girl's survival in the wilderness, written by Stephen King...
And in today's STRANGE RESORT podcast we'll be entering the world of Stephen King so that George Hatfield can interview Trisha MacFarland, also known as The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon...
We also have a special announcement about our next series of Strange Resort videos that will take place in a small town in Maine... a little village you may have heard of... a place called Derry. - Розваги
Not only are you reminding me of the King stories I know, but you're bringing ones to my attention that I didn't even know about.
Same
I can't wait to hear this! Also dying to know how George Hatfield got out of Desperation!! Love this channel
They're going to Derry! "I'm so excited!! I'm so excited!! I'm so.... scared!"
Thank you George. The girl who loved Tom Gordon is a wonderful novel. I happily read and thoroughly enjoyed. ❤
My favorite book not just of Stephen King but of all time❤
I remember reading this I believe in 2001. Right out of high school. Excellent book
This was so much fun to listen to ! I love this book and to hear it from “ Trisha’s “ perspective is absolutely incredible ! Brilliant idea and interview ❤
I feel like I’m getting closure to all my favorite king stories ! Thank you ❤
You're so welcome!
The guest voice actor is absolutely fantastic.
Couldn't agree more! Hopefully she'll be featured in future episodes of Strange Resort.
I love that story, one of my favourite King books.
this was such a good book. no supernatural elements, just man vs nature
Hey, you just summed up what I remember about that story.
The terror of being vulnerable to wilderness, through the eyes of a child. This feeling is the only memory that comes to my mind.
I read it many years ago, and I forgot how it ended. Was she rescued at the end?
I don’t recall if the book has a happy ending.
You knocked this one out if the park.
That's very kind of you to say!
I'm so glad that George played this episode safe-ish, we were very worried about him!
One summer night, years ago, my husband and I got lost in Yosemite Park, our flashlights went out and it got cold we stumbled upon a park ranger's shelter no one there, but we were able to sleep and find warmth even some stale coffee, before we found it. I was horrified. Being lost is no fun but being a child with nothing to sustain yourself would be more so a horrific experience. I read it. Great little book. King's most frightening when he touches us with reality.
Good work. Thanks Narrator.
OMG this was brilliant, and mentioning Derry at last! Fantastic!
Good old George, I hope he always survives his adventures and winds us all up doing so.
Holy smoke you guys are good. 😮
Just read this. Very good. 4 stars.
So much for rethinking his life choices.
George is gonna float.
This was brilliantly done
Love the story! Headed out to Derry huh? What could possibly go wrong there? 😊
That was brilliant, glad I stayed up! Really liked the voice over the imagery, and looking forward to Derry (was wondering when you would go there! 🎈)
Couldn't tell you why now but thus was my favorite and first Steven King book I ever read. Got a slightly ratty paperback copy from half price and repeatedly read it in middle school.
I had this book. Wish I still did
Thats nice . I like this team up .
I really hope she joins you!
You're gonna need all the help you can get...
Loved the book and loved this! Amazing that you managed to track her down and had her speak so freely about her “adventures” in those woods. Good luck finding your way back 😆
I loved this one, one of the best shorter stories. Just finished reading The Institute. That one could cross over a number of his other books, The two that cross my mind is Fire Starter and Dead Zone
Oh thank you for yet another wonderful episode ❤ we are all very appreciative.
if you would consider doing an episode like this one, on 4 past midnight, the langolires especially🙏 please, loved the episode
The last Stephen King book I read over a decade ago but I do remember enjoying it.
This was a fantastic talk. I read the book without realizing the story behind it, and I always felt so proud of the little girl when I'd think of it.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it... but full disclosure, this video is a combination of fan-fiction and story analysis done by voice actors. We often create mockumentary-style videos to explore Stephen King's fiction. :)
Oh whoops thank you for the explanation, great story!
BRAVO
ENCORE
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks!
You're very welcome, Mollymidway. Thanks for your support :)
So impressed by the voice actors, as always 👍🏾👍🏾
It is the only book I have read that gave me a Misery moment. I was pretty irritated with end because once the book got going it was like riding a bullet train and the end was the cinder block wall it slammed into. I won’t explain it in detail in case people show up who haven’t read it. Pretty excited I had never heard of “Desperation” until finding this channel. Searching for a copy I discovered its mirror novel “The Regulators” they both just arrived today.
Thank you for this! It's one of my favorite books and I'm always recommending it to friends. I was hoping you'd cover it!
It's so good!
I love all of your videos so much.
also found your channel couple days ago. Your content is amazing. so well written, so well narrated, just top quality stuff Georgies goin back to derry! will he float?
Thanks so much... glad you found us. And yes, George is currently working on a story in Derry! We hope to hear from him very soon!
Love this story, one of king’s best. Would make a hell of a movie. If nobody else will make it, I will, dammit! Nice low budget, about $30 mill should do it. Internet: give me your money, you might get it back…..
I would like to know about how he escaped desperation
If you don’t already have a copy good luck finding a copy at a good price. I got lucky finding mine. I only paid $10 or I wouldn’t have it. All the other copies I have found are in the $40+ range.
@@Kageoni187 I'm talking about the last strange resort video
@@zachmegna7003 oooh, I’m sorry.
Pretty cool video, as usual. Kinda hoping that George and Trish DON'T become a long term item, as I'm not fond of 'shipping.
I really felt bad for this kid, and I loved how they describe the creature, was it a bear or something else?
I won't watch the movie, but i absolutely loved the book
"The world had teeth, and it could bite you any time it wanted."
George, I gotta hand it to you: You come back swinging more than Freddy Krueger! My hat is off to you! Also, good for Tricia! I totally believe she'd become a park ranger after her experience. After you escape ghoulish priests to wicked gods, you can take anything!
*Also* also, good luck in fucking Derry! Avoid the sewer grates, don't talk to anybody, and for God's sake if you see any clowns, run for the hills!
We've tried to warn George about going to Derry... but you know George, he doesn't always take the hint! At least he won't be alone.
@@stephenkingbookclub1054 indeed. At least Tricia can throw her Walkman at Pennywise XD
This was the only book I could actually finish of SK
❤😊
I look forward to your videos . I really enjoy your talented work.
I love how Strange Resorts is actually becoming an overarching storyline.
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Pennywise is waiting for you
Munchos are so delicious
Just remember, Trisha.
It did not go far.
Love this channel but i HATE the use of generative ai. I wish you would just use stock images or work with an artist. Again i love the core of the work but everytime an ai image pops up it makes me so frustrated because i know you could do better and that you dont want to support these companies stealing from actual artist.
Yes!!!
As an actual visual artist and illustrator, I would be more than happy to volunteer my work! But I suppose that hiring a human who works in real physical media takes more time and money than most people are willing or able to pay, and as we've seen in music already, it's the art that's going to suffer for it. Which is sad, because AI is fast, and true mastery in any of the arts requires time and patience, things that seem to have less and less value of late.
I've got to read this one...and find my compass! 🧭
