Reading comics and literature? A brother from another mother! Just finished Holly last night, myself. Also, love your shelves. I’m a big Folio Society fan, too.
Isn’t a sadly funny state of the world when people are more outraged by politics than cannibalism 🤣 stumbled on your video and really enjoyed❤ haven’t read this series but now want to check it out, thanks!
The COVID and politics stuff trigger exactly the right kind of people, so I'm immediately onboard with it!! Joking aside, great book. Not his absolute best, but a great read nontheless. The villains are some of his most evil non-supernatural antagonists.
Just found your channel and love your take on Holly and those 1 star reviews in GR. I'm still reading it and enjoying it, thanks for no spoilers! In most of his books he is excellent at setting up time and place and I think Holly is no different. Your point on other novels with infectious disease was great. Hadn't thought of that. King didn't make covid political he just reported on it as it happened. We ( the collective we) did.
I dont understand how science became political. And how would a character like Holly behave in the pandemic? Exactly how she was written. Of course she used hand sanitizer and wore a mask. That's what we would all expect from the character like holly. How could Stephen King write a book that took place in 2021and not talk about covid?
Great review, glad to hear it’s one you enjoyed! I’m still waiting on my library copy. I have not read the Mr. Mercedes books but became acquainted with Holly in The Outsider. I’m trying to stay away from too many reviews but I did hear someone rant about his political views in this book. Cool about the glowing windows! I was laughing a bit about the horrible time with the quitting smoking because it’s about to get horrible for me. The hubby( who’s smoked for 40 yrs) has started that path today due to upcoming surgery needed. This video may be the last happy thing I see😂. Making great progress with Anathem! I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I’ve read about 100 pgs so far of Just After Sunset so hopefully I’ll get finished by the end of the month also.
I hope your husband’s surgery goes well, everyone in my family smokes cigarettes. I have smoked a lot of things lol but I have never smoked a cigarette. I will be starting Just After Sunset tonight
Will look into the Holly stories, sounds right up my alley. I've never understood people who feel capable of giving an opinion on something they know nothing about -- a movie they haven't seen, a book they haven't read, etc. I was in an online argument a while back over a video (can't even remember which now!), and eventually I realized the other guy couldn't have even watched it, he was just making assumptions and claims based on his assumptions. He even admitted it once I pressed him, and didn't see anything wrong with it. Absolutely maddening.
I think King got too far up his own a@@ in Holly and it's sad that Trump lives rent free in his head. The overall story and character of Holly was pretty average.
I’ve just finished just after sunset just after I finished hollly. Holly was actually goood but the lowest in the bill hodges series imo. But still an amazing book. Just after sunset be careful however as it’s on of the worst books I’ve ever read but then again it redeemed itself by three stories which was N. gingerbread girl and probably my favourite A very tight place.
I only gave Just After Sunset 3 stars. Not my favorite but there were some entertaining moments in the book so I didn’t hate it. I always have a good time reading anything in the Hollyverse.
I totally agree. People who DNF a book should NOT be allowed to fully review it. If you KNOW Holly and the fact that she's on the spectrum (autism) you SHOULD expect her to have a level of OCD so her reaction to COVID is appropriate. I LOVE Holly. She's my favorite character Stephen King has ever written. I enjoyed Holly. It's not my favorite BUT I think the bad guys were terrifying. Absolutely terrifying to me. I enjoyed the ending as well. I've read it twice. While I love Barbra and Jerome. The whole Jerome side story could have been written out and I wouldn't have been sad about it.

Thank you so much watching. I think you will find Holly to be a really interesting character. And yes! A very sad state of affairs.

Exactly! The more I think about it, I think it might just be his most horrific book since Revival.

Absolutely! Thank you so much. I hope you enjoy the rest of the book. I loved the ending!

Absolutely 100%
Mr Mercedes and Finder's Keepers were not supernatural. That started with End of Watch and continued through If it bleeds.

I actually was not upset that they lost to Buffalo. I didn’t want to play them twice in a row and I think KC are very beatable!

Exactly! And if you are one of those lucky few to be privileged enough to get an ARC, you should put the effort into reading the whole novel.

I do agree that it is sad how much space Trump owns in his head.
Yeah how dare he think about a guy who is trying to end Democracy in the USA

Yes! I commented on another response that this might be the most horrific novel he has written since Revival. For multiple reasons.
