When making lofi beats, the melodies are one of the key elements to making the chill vibe.
In this video I break down how to make a Lofi melody.
To start off this melody, I started with the chords. If you aren’t familiar with how to make chords or chord progressions, make sure to watch this video first!

I found that I liked the root note of G. So I selected the scale G in Abletons piano roll to highlight the notes. You can do this in whatever DAW you use though.
I started laying out root notes in a pattern that I liked. Then from there, I layered those notes into triads and inverted the last root note up to make the chords more cohesive. Then I added sevenths and bass notes to fill out the chords.
Now that I had the chords laid out, I wanted to layer them with a piano to make the Lofi melody more unique.
From here, I added a topline with a bright vintage sounding guitar which is every typical in Lofi beats. I duplicated that and made a counter melody as well. Then I took each guitar and panned the slightly opposite to give them a wider feel. Not to mention putting them an octave apart as well. Now this melody is starting to feel like a Lofi melody, but it needed more.
I added a Lofi pad sound and added a big reverb 100% wet to make it really ambient. Then I lowers the volume substantially so it would sit nicely in the background. To compliment that, I added a vocal instrument and processed it the same way.
I added Lofi anything (my custom effect rack to make any sound sound Lofi) on the melody group. Of course, I started by adding crackle, a little crunch and some lfo movement. I finished it off with a high pass to really give it that Lofi feeling.
Adding some drums at the the end really finalized everything and took the Lofi melody and turned it into a Lofi beat.

@@Sweatmonkey316 I’ve never used logic before. But I can look into the iPad version and see if that’s something I can accommodate for you! Are you looking for videos on how to use logic? Or just making beats in logic? Most of this info should translate into logic if you’re looking strictly for beat making tips.

@@djcontour yes for the iPad and by making beats all the other UA-cam channels have videos on it but when the videos start they already have tracks in the timeline they don’t explain how they got the tracks or really break stuff down
