Lofi music can be an absolute walk in the park to make! Lower the stakes, open up Ableton, and try piecing some cool sounds together. The best producers are the ones that produce on a regular basis - so if you want to improve you need to take action. Lofi is pretty much as simple as it gets, and by the end of this video you’ll know exactly how to make lofi music like a pro in ableton! Little secret…it’s all in the processing on the master chain.
Comment any questions or feedback, I try to read all the comments and respond when I can!
Thanks so much for watching, truly.
    Cheers
    Ethan

I have been producing in Ableton for 5 years and trust me this video would have meant the world to me when I first started. More than explaining the process of a lofi beat you explained the mechanics of ableton, all those small tricks and tips and shortcuts. You understood the assignment and clearly you have experience on what things people struggle the most when getting the hang on moving through Ableton interface. Keep up with the good shit!

As a fellow producer and electronic music teacher, when potential clients can't necessarily afford to be in the room with me to get instruction, I always send them to your page. Always giving such a wealth of knowledge. Lol with yur page and some real internal motivation, folks really don't need to go the college route like I did. Keep on keeping on brutha!

Thanks so much man !! Your vids are always top quality and straight-forward. Way more concrete and useful than some 30min videos where it feels like you don't retain any practical information at the end haha

adding to the praise, I am day two into using Ableton. Many thanks, I've gone through the onboard tutorial and as nice as it was being able to try and replicate what you are doing and messing up and fixing it has been invaluable. Again thanks.

These videos are great, Ethan! I do want to point out that the bpm is really 85, but setting it to 170 and doubling the space between notes on the grid makes it feel like it's 85 bpm. I'm not trying to be pedantic, but I thought others might need an explanation if they're new to music production. If there's a reason for doing it this way, then please let me know. I'm certainly open to hearing new approaches. I'm thinking it's so that you can keep the grid in "8th" notes. I put it in quotes because it's meant to be quarter notes because a bar is four quarter notes. lol, okay. I think that I just answered my question. I think it's purely for the visual of being able to see the samples on the grid without seeing a bunch of extra lines.

Hey Ethan. Great video. May I suggest for your next video or any later arrange this idea into a full song? I’m sure many new producers like myself struggle quite a bit turning their ideas into full songs.

I believe that the best for lofi instruments are the carefully created synths, with some envs and lfos on fin, amp, warp, with the right wavetables

Where is Drum Hits Ethan? Do I need to download it? I am a newbie and currently learning how to make some nice background music on Ableton. I am on the Trial Live 11 version so not sure if it has Drum Hits? Any help would be appreciated!

The way I make Lofi is complicated AF. Also, it’s not really Lofi so much is hi-fi 90s boom BAP with modern production sensibilities and a modern twist so I guess it’s not Lofi at all.. anyways, I’m always into different production ideas and if I ever want to make my stuff sound worse, I might look into Lofi lolz
    I’m kidding I’m joking , or am I?
