Really glad you started an updated beginners guide 😊
It's been a blast!
@@Flintergaming same! The game has been 1€ recently and I'm actually very enjoying it and its really not that accessible on its own for people like me. So these videos are so so much appreciated
"Black dildo" you say.... Hmmmm
@@Taku0 The guys accent!
I think the most difficult skill is learning when not to take the shot, it’s easy to watch Flinter make incredible shots and think I can do that but Flinter has had a lot of experience both in game and real life. Thanks for the video
I've hunted since I was old enough to climb a stand, played this game off and on for 3 years atleast and still won't take some of the shots he pulls off lol
i am very guilty of seeing someone do something on youtube and think 'that seems easy i could easily do that and then play cotw for a while saying " whats this zone thing that keeps popping up on screen im following tracks not fortnite zones dont matter to me" (im quite sure you got this notification and said to yourself : 'why am i getting replys to a comment i made a year ago' the answer is that flinter like your comment and i be jelous'
I have been playing for less than a week andI may have missed it in your videos but I realized you can "run" in any stance. This means you have 3 stances, upright, crouch and prone. In each stance you have 2 speeds, slow and fast. In all cases the fast speed causes more noise than its slower speed component. This helps alot with prone as you can get in closer a little quicker while crawling fast, then if you want to get in even closer you go into slow mode for less noise. This would be a great video for new players.
Oh yeah there are a lot of neat little tricks in this game to learn, I've been playing it off and on since the game came out and I'm still always learning new things.
Great game to play solo or with friends for sure
Only PC has the multiple speeds. One console, once we crouch or prone we only get the "walk" speed.
@@TrueRMYDRACOARES you can get the different speeds by pressing on the joystick with different amounts of force. Just barely press it for the slower, quieter speed. I’ve been doing it forever.
It's probably too early in your series to talk about it, yet, but I'd love to hear more about using scents and scent eliminator. I'd be interested in things like how and when to use them, or why not to use them.
one thing i want to say is that before you have a range finder, you can go in the map and ping the spot indicator so that your waypoint can tell you how far away you are from the animal even when out of the map I do it all the time.
Unless you were playing in Ultrawide or any super resolution above 1080, then your waypoint would be far off where you pointed it at on the map. They only recently fixed this issue like a week or two ago after it being a problem for literal YEARS. That's Avalanche though, sadly. Make a great game but don't fix the terrible bugs since launch.
I'm really enjoying this series. Great description of the HUD.
ayeee that was your idea right?
There are 2 things I would really like to see.
First one and more important is "Forest Hunting". So basically not just going through water. I know it is not most efficient way but I find it fun but also have a lot of issues finding animals and not spooking them when visibility is very limited.
Second one is where best to put tents and tripods when you have only a handful of them, 4 or so. Maybe you could fit this one with another request.
Thanks and happy new year!
Me crouched, slowly creeping, making minimal noise, behind a hill.
Deer: "I can smell you"
I love this game I just got it.
It seems like 120% it is just about patience. I happen to have NONE. Lol
It’s so difficult to figure everything out because it kinda just throws you in. But tons of awesome guys like you out here making videos to help! Thankyou Thankyou 🙏
It’s free on gamepass for Xbox, everyone go get it!!!!
I just got it on gamepass too
you make my day brother. 2:00PM PST everyday babyyy.
Thank You so much!! I got this game last week on PC and I really enjoy playing this game!
I just leveled up to 16 and so far I’m just using the .270, .30-O6 and 7mm. So far I really enjoy using the .30-06 but only for Moose and Elk and the 7mm for upclose shots. But I still use the .270 but I kinda do a rotation haha but I’m having lots of fun with 4-5 hours of sleep haha.
Since watching your videos I’ve gotten a whole lot better! You’ve been very very helpful! One day I may rack up over 1k hrs like you lol.
THANK YOU!!! 🖖🏽🤙🏼
Just got my first diamond whitetail after watching your videos! Thx for making such content :)
nice :D congrats!
I pack a bow most always. You can stealthy pick off those guys that sneak in without disturbing anything, etc etc. Highly recommended when setting up need zones
I've learned quickly that taking a good shot is much easier than chasing an animal for miles.
One thing I always wonder about is how hunter pressure is put into the map, and also when to give up when chasing an animal you shot? If it's blood trials keep saying 25-50%, and you're running after it there seems to be times where I feel that all I'm doing is scaring it further and further away and eventually it's not going to bleed out and I'm wasting my time.
You’re right there’s almost nothing more frustrating. The only time I go through with it is if I really want the animal. I chased a lvl5 moose on medved the other day for almost 3km but it trolled
The dead center of the hunter pressure circle is where a kill shot was made. The circle will appear immediately when the animal dies. It’s a really good indicator of its worth pursuing or not. If I follow for a couple minutes and the hunting pressure circle still hasn’t appeared I’ll typically just call it and move on to the next one.
Can’t wait for the next video. Recently bought the game on sale and I’m completely hooked. Please continue!
Hey Flinter i just want you to know that you have seriously carried my 2019-2021 and ty for that
@@TheHunter22COTW self promo on someone else’s video ☹️
@@TheHunter22COTW ok I need to rebuy ps plus but if u wanna play I’m down
@@TheHunter22COTW Yeah fucking right it was ''your brother''. I'm sure everyone's going to believe that.
@@TheHunter22COTW what’s ur ps username
@@TheHunter22COTW I can’t even add you
I would love this series to continue. I bet there are lots of new players like me from Epic giveaway.
Oh yeah I remember playing the game without any DLC and it's certainly much harder.
Could you do a video about what gear we should be saving for and kind of in what order? What’s worth getting vs what you could skip over in favor of saving for the next tier item, etc?
The videos that explain various mechanics and stuff, I am going to show those to my Grandpa, I am sure he will learn something, or atleast have a source of information that will always be available if he forgets anything. Good video!
Hey Flinter!
Regarding the distance to animals hearing you depending on whether you walk / run, etc.
- varies moderately.
I have noticed a difference lately + that it can vary depending on which animal you approach.
yea I CAN SNAEAK UP TO ANYTHING BUT A DAMN BIGHORN SHEEP LMAO
it definitely does :D thats just kind of a general rule I follow
Do you do a lot of handgun hunting? I find the idea tantalising but it's very hard to actually pull off whether through the underpowered starting gun, the range, or my own lack of skill. Would love a full video on that.
Hey, loving the new series! I watched through the original when you released it, but I don't remember you covering hides, calling animals in, etc. Would it be possible to do that in this series?
that might be one to do on the main account where I've got all callers unlocked :) I can definitely check into it!
I think you should cover tracking, I know its basically just follow tracks, but sometimes I enduro following tracks for 30 mins and never see the animal im following, and often times the tracks just disappear.
Just watched your first three videos on this beginner series and I can see where I have completely been going wrong since starting out.
Thank you for the Series!
Glad you are doing update guides, me and 3 of my buddies just now started playing like a month ago and we watch all your newer videos
this was uploaded two days after my birthday and its perfectly what i needed to know :D
Got my first diamond bighorn yesterday and it was a black fur type it was a smaller diamond 167.6
I missed some of the info in the in game tutorial so had no idea what the green cone was on the compass, no wonder I wasn't finding many animals. Thanks for the very clear guide.
Love this guide! I've been playing CofW for more than 100 hours but I'm having more fun than I have for those first 100 hours by finally doing things right! Also, relaxing voice over relaxing music. Noice!
Really good video, I’m a veteran player and picked up a few new things, from this that has helped my hunt. Keep it up my man.
I would like to see a video on how to use the scope on the crossbow. Can't figure it out as far as yardage and where to use what pin
Couple things I could come up with for ideas, leveling shotguns, cuz I suck at that. Possibly stuff like the blinds we could buy for good packs of animals. All of your stuff has been very helpful, I appreciate ya. Keep doing what ya do buddy.
So glad u said that about not seeing as many animals as the video makes it seem like....bc I've struggled lately and I was wondering where the dang animals were but I've seen the updated drink times now
Great series, really helping me in my cotw journey, thanks flinter!
I bought the game two days ago and been having an absolute blast in it, never thought I would enjoy it so much. Learned alot about shotangles and where to shoot from you. The only question I really still have is, When to use the shotgun or pistol ?
I had the same question as i also started this game rather recently. From what i can tell the starter shotgun and pistol are bad until you get better ammo like the 12g slug etc
@@belalmansour1450 I have been just giving myself little objectives to use the shotgun and revolver. So far I am suprised how many Coyotes I have been able to kill with both. As well as Jackrabbits and Mallards on the lakes map.
@@Evilgrinn nice, I just got Yukon valley and ive been messing around with some caribou to be honest with you
Lol I used the shotgun for a few roe deer. I literally walked up on them. Probably a few feet away
good video Flinter thanks for posting, are you going to include duck hunting in this beginner's guide? I know geese are more appealing for fast cash, but how, when and where to set up for ducks would be great.
since they're a DLC species (for equipment) I'll likely include them towards the end when I branch towards that sort of thing :D
@@Flintergaming Cool, Thank you Did you know it's Boss Ross's birthday? you remind me of him...just fyi
Enjoyed watching this series and as a new player I appreciate the time you put in to do re-do/update series.
Hey Flinter! Would you do like a week or two of playing monster hunting games for this halloween?
Are you going to continue this series? I really enjoyed it and would enjoy more
I got my first Diamond yesterday!! Only a moose but I was so happy! Thanks for your help and tips!
Great videos man! Please make some more if you find the time. You’re very informative and entertaining
Loving your videos and advice. Been having a bit of trouble with noise and when to switch stances and speed. Thanks for the information
Omg hiiiiiii flinter I really love your videos and you help me with my depression and I love you for that and keep going
I just got into this game and your videos have been super helpful. I actually bought the dlc on steam yesterday because of it.
1:59 ''Basically the deer aren't going to be able to smell us because the wind is *blowing from us to them*''. I think you worded that wrong. But we get the idea :')
Whoops 🙃
Thank you for this wonderful serie, and so well explained, i am french but really you did a great job , the best for beginner i watched.
How do you hold the scope zoom for so long? Mine starts swaying really fast. You took that heart shot in that moose and got to take your time and line it up
Wish I can get this game can you do the same thing in hunter classic?
The entire game and all its dlc are currently £11 on the humble bundle
Maybe make a video on tracking good animals without spooking them and having to track them for a kilometer and a half
Thanks for this, super helpful for my friends and I just into this game and it’s been very fun
Also, rabbit/hare hunting. I do a lot of this sort in real life but I'm terrible at it in this game. I'd love to be able to get some pointers for how to reliably find and hunt them on the various maps.
Thanks for these videos I hunt irl and it's nice to see I can hunt the sameway in the game
FLINTER YOUVE HELPED THOUSANDS OF PPL
Dude you have by far the most pleasant comentator voice on youtube, i could listen to these videos all day (no homo)👍
thx flinter, I used this yesterday and elimated a whole heard of 11 pronghorn with a crossbow. It was in their zone time so they just kept coming back.
Can we see just tree stand hunting? Is there really a useful purpose for them?
Just an update played this game for 3yrs or 4 now. And a little bit after I made my first post I started playing and cuz of the tips I just got my first Dimond. I’m pumped
Congrats! 🎉
I live your videos man, thanks for helping
Do you have any tips for coyote hunting?
Hey I'm new to your channel an I love ur content so helpful an I have a question so u unlock callers but gaining more levels cause I'm confused on the whole callers unlocking thing?
Need some help with bow hunting I got a couple of deer but still have trouble here and there
I think a video on how to find all the need zones on a fresh map would be extremely helpful. Thank you for this i've learned so much as a fresh player
I'm no pro at the game, but just meandering around - especially hitting all the water sources early - has given me drinking zones for every species on the Layton Lakes map. I do have the ATV which reduces travel time significantly, I blow through and scare everything within 300 yards, come back the next day and find tons of deer and moose :)
You are the best at hunter call of the wild
Good luck in the season hunting I mean
Would love to know the best way to use your skill/perk points. Which are more valuable than others and ones you don’t need at all. Thanks!
Thanks, new player here. That map distance trick is great!
Also, you're asking if new players have questions... I'd love to see you hunt coyotes. I've tried a few times to following them, calling them... to no avail. Is this about persistence, luck or skill?
Can you do some tips on what harvesting is and Gear like clothes, backpacks, and binoculars?
27 hours in game and i got a "great one" i did not know what i had on my hands, so i didnt save him for later, i sold it, sad sad sad day. But anyways keep up the good content!! :)
Imo the biggest issue is taking the shot to early. My farthest kill thus far is 401 meters with the 338. I use to hate the .338 but that thing drops anything in its tracks! And the new dlc with the electric call is amazing!!!
Flinter your the best get dem animals boi good job
hi love the vids
Could you do a caller beginner video?
Hi Flinter. First of all, Happy New Year. I've been playing this game for about a week or so. I've seen several videos, looked over the keybinding and even changed a few things that I hoped would make things "easier" for me. The one thing I'm not quite understanding is the holding my breath. Now, I use either a controller or lately the keyboard and mouse because my controller is somewhat messed up. I've used the key for holding my breath but, I don't know if I'm holding the key too long or it's not working properly. Could you please, in one of your amazingly helpful videos, explain and kind of show how to hold your breath properly? Thanks. Peter
What's the best way to make rifle stable.? Is there a bipod or stand?
I would like to know which guns are the best for what, and when to use the right weapons. Also how to efficiently find game
Good knowledge I was trying to test out some theories and the dang pronghorn seen me at 100 yards in a bush
Thanks
I really enjoy taking distance shots. Nothing is more satisfying than landing a 610 meter heartshot. Mostly since the animals will not know what hit it.
Can you go over the different rifles and your recommendations? Also, what do you hunt duck and rabbits with in just the vanilla game. Shotguns are good for rabbits, but I find they don't have the range needed for ducks on Layton. Do you wear a backpack for extra storage at all either?
hope the videos keep coming
this is amazing helped a lot
You can also see the weapon score underneath the distance in the harvest screen
Yo you out here saying all of this!? All of my shots are close shots like bro… keep going youre amazing🦌🔫❤️
can you go over diamonds like how easy it is to find, harvest and such. Trying to make a lodge
When do you think they will have "Tru-Glo" sights for the 20 gauge shot gun?
Amazing content Flinter!
I wouldn't be upset if they made a game mode geared less toward realistic animal behavior and more toward a more pleasant gaming experience. The game is fun, but if I only have an hour to play and can only check a couple zones per day it quickly loses its appeal.
This is that game.
So we want the wind to go from us (the player) to them (the deer) because we have on that good scent lure? 🤔 (small freudian slip regarding the wind indicator) 🙃
Does anyone happen to know what bird is calling at 14:43?
I have tried searching for this game's bird sounds, and googling PNW birds and listening to every damn one...I haven't been able to find that strange sounding bird yet.
What should we use for small game like mallards and rabbits? I found that .22lr is a bit better for rabbits but not for birds, also I"m not comfortable with any shotgun, I just don't like them very much.
Shotguns are very useful in specific situations, for example I was going to a far away outpost on an atv, and a deer ran right in front of me, so I jumped off and downed it with a shotgun
@2:04 you say "the wind is blowing from us to them", while it's the other way around :) anyways, great video, thank you!
bow hunting and how to read the bow sights
At 2:00 - the wind is blowing from the deer to us, not from us to them. I think Flinter meant to say it that way, but just misspoke. You want the wind cone to point away from the animals.
I worded that really weird. I think I tried to say that its good that wind is not blowing from us to them. I did a poor job there xD
might have to watch more than once. have had the game for a while but am still pretty green at it. gotta learn stalking better
Question, Is it worth my time to look for a kill when "No Vital Organ Hit"?
When are more videos coming for beginners?
You flinter your a great hunting gamer keep grinding
How do you get animals to come close to your blind/stand? I always set one up but never see an animal. Is it becsuse there is hunting pressure already? The need zone is still there.
i've seen you do lots of spine shots in your videos, is that an old strategy or does it still work?
