I just mowed a strip just that size with my John Deere E-100 it was a good foot and a half over the top of the mower. And now it's about a half inch tall.

I have a friend who owns a John Deere E-100 and i have a Craftsman DLT-3000. We both mow the islands and the grass on each side in the front of our neighborhood,I mow the left side and he mows the right side.

I have 6 of these mowers for a reason. I used mine today clearing a property that hadnt been touched in years. Running into 8 foot bushes is fun and painful. I need to finish putting back together my brush lt1000 that has the craftsman brush guard and lift on it.

That one weed didn't want to be hacked. That reminded me of once while I was brushing my hair and one hair wouldn't stay down only to find out the hair was growing out of the side of my ear. Kudos to you and the man who donated the rider mower for a good cause.

I’ve got one of these mowers, 19.5 turbo cooled Briggs. Had it for over 20 years. I’ve since replaced it with two Kubota diesels. But I still mow some with this old mower. Well worth the 400 bucks I gave for it used, all those years ago, it also came with a lawn sweeper

Very nice job, especially with the free Craftsman tractor! My next door neighbor doesn't mow lawns like I'm doing, but he has a side hustle "flipping" tractors and a walk-behind mower now and then. This looks like a Craftsman tractor he had. I'll see what he brings in this season and if he gets another Craftsman like this one, perhaps we might be able to help you identify the model of your Craftsman.

Hey Dan I've tried the 80thousand weed eater line I went through that string like in no time so the weed eater string keeps on breaking every time I cut thick and tall grass don't get me rong I like the 80 thousands trimmer line but the trimmer line keeps on breaking every time I weed eat with that string so every time I get that trimmer line and use it the trimmer line just don't hold up so good like the other ones do

You do a good job Dan. I amazed I was doing a lawn like that on my lawn tractor 38" And I smoked the belt the deck started shaken The blades on that Craftsman 42" mower must be realy good I have learned from you, the trick with long grass is patience, walk it first, as no telling what hidden under that long grass. use if you can use the Edger on the out side first them mow the centre but if you cant like this one Mow slowly on a the highest deck setting. And just keep going over it

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  6 років тому +1

I did and I noticed that as well and it seems like what is happening is when the blades are not working hard the engine kind of relaxes a little but then when you start cutting some thicker stuff you hear the engine dig in and increase RPMs… Almost like it’s meant to do that to save fuel or something but I don’t think so

Overgrown property is hard on the equipment and just not worth the time invested because some people are too cheap to have the work done on a reasonable schedule.

I do this in a large section of my own back yard every year, but I have a pattern and never blow the majority of the cut grass form the chute into what I haven't mowed yet. I have owned a dozen lawn tractors over the years, and they would ALL do this without problem, just make sure to walk it before hand to make sure there isn't anything big laying around to bend a blade, and sharpen the blades every so often.

Hey Dan, just thinking about you. So I was washing my car with your typical wax wash solution. Then crossed my mind. What if you replace the bleach + dish washing detergent with bleach and car wax wash solution? The car wax wash solution leaves a nice gloss and thought well what the heck, could be a video you'd like to try out and experiment?

Today I used the bleach + dish washing detergent formula on my congregated iron fence and unfortunately was a fail. Worked awesome on the house cladding. I had to use a hard brush on the congregated iron fence to loosen up the algae then rinse with a hose. The car wax wash solution worked great as well just on its own. Interesting with the UV protection, would be great for us Kiwis, we have the worst Ozone in the world!

I had one of these plenty of power mowing tall grass is easy. The problem is these tractors have no stamina. Had mine 5 years and in 5 years sears had to replace transaxle twice and it went out the third time when i junked it. I mow close to 4 acres of ground some of it hillside. Tall grass easy caring for large acreage not so much they just dont hold up.

@@DansVlog i have to have a heavy duty tractor as it gets used practically every day. The Craftsman 1,000 is designed for yards from 1 to 2 acres according to their spec. Also they are designated as a lawn tractor not a garden tractor. All Garden tractors have a GT designation or LGT for light garden tractor. They usually have a design rating in specs for 3 plus acres. They are much heavier in the frame and have cast iron transaxle cases. These are things i learned after trashing my new craftsman 1,000 in 5 years. With the trouble i had at least Sears was honest and explained to me what i just wrote. My next tractor was a troy built Big Red Horse GT and must say pretty darn good tractor after 8 years of trouble free hard work the deck is worn clear out but the rest of the tractor is still purring. Still runs my box blade, plow and discs and my garden spreader. Its a shame cant buy new deck for it which sucks. Bottom line up too 2 acres of just grass cutting and lite pulling a lawn tractor will do nicely. But 3 acres or more along with ground work better be sure it has a GT designation.

@@DansVlog very true i just thought this is information that you should pass on to your subscribers as it seems to be a popular subject on your channel. Other wise it could be misleading to some to go purchase the wrong tractor for their needs. That was a mistake i made before i had the knowledge needed. I was glad the sales rep for Sears actually shared that knowledge with me. It isnt something they normally do because they are th here to sell machines.

I've been wanting to upgrade to a 4gpm pressure washer and was saving money to get one like yours. I looked at cheaper models with Honda engines and found Lowe's had one with a GX270 and a Triplex pump that has great reviews for $899. It has the Husqvarna name on it. I was tempted to put it on a Lowe's credit card and buy it just so I can expand my hustle a bit earlier. I decided to think about it over the weekend. Then I found the exact same unit on Craigslist from a guy who goes around and buys returns from Lowe's and fixes them up and resells them.
He was asking $700 last week, then dropped it to $650 on Tuesday. I decided to offer him the $580 I had saved toward buying the set-up you've got and he took it. He said there was nothing wrong with this one when he brought it home and tested it. He thinks they bought it for a project then returned it to get their money back, which is common. He said the other common problem was people using shitty gas without adding Sta-bil. Most the time he just cleans the carb and fuel line and adds good gas and they start right up.
Anyway, I'm super stoked about getting a $900 unit for $580 and about $20 in gas to drive the 3 hour round trip to get it. Now I can reach out to do more and faster than I was with my little 2.3gpm I bought to get started. After I got home I got a call for a house wash, driveway and sidewalk cleaning to do on Sunday. I'd say it was an excellent day yesterday.
