I just mowed a strip just that size with my John Deere E-100 it was a good foot and a half over the top of the mower. And now it's about a half inch tall.
I have a friend who owns a John Deere E-100 and i have a Craftsman DLT-3000. We both mow the islands and the grass on each side in the front of our neighborhood,I mow the left side and he mows the right side.
I have 6 of these mowers for a reason. I used mine today clearing a property that hadnt been touched in years. Running into 8 foot bushes is fun and painful. I need to finish putting back together my brush lt1000 that has the craftsman brush guard and lift on it.
That one weed didn't want to be hacked. That reminded me of once while I was brushing my hair and one hair wouldn't stay down only to find out the hair was growing out of the side of my ear. Kudos to you and the man who donated the rider mower for a good cause.
I’ve got one of these mowers, 19.5 turbo cooled Briggs. Had it for over 20 years. I’ve since replaced it with two Kubota diesels. But I still mow some with this old mower. Well worth the 400 bucks I gave for it used, all those years ago, it also came with a lawn sweeper
Very nice job, especially with the free Craftsman tractor! My next door neighbor doesn't mow lawns like I'm doing, but he has a side hustle "flipping" tractors and a walk-behind mower now and then. This looks like a Craftsman tractor he had. I'll see what he brings in this season and if he gets another Craftsman like this one, perhaps we might be able to help you identify the model of your Craftsman.
Hey Dan I've tried the 80thousand weed eater line I went through that string like in no time so the weed eater string keeps on breaking every time I cut thick and tall grass don't get me rong I like the 80 thousands trimmer line but the trimmer line keeps on breaking every time I weed eat with that string so every time I get that trimmer line and use it the trimmer line just don't hold up so good like the other ones do
Could be the brand you are using! You see it working here in these vids. I didn't use half a head on the front and back yard clean up vids I just posted 8/2022. Maybe try what I recommend and see if you like it
You do a good job Dan. I amazed I was doing a lawn like that on my lawn tractor 38" And I smoked the belt the deck started shaken The blades on that Craftsman 42" mower must be realy good I have learned from you, the trick with long grass is patience, walk it first, as no telling what hidden under that long grass. use if you can use the Edger on the out side first them mow the centre but if you cant like this one Mow slowly on a the highest deck setting. And just keep going over it
I know there was some grass in there, but those tall weed shoots are murder to cut!! After that first pass I figured three more, but I didn't count!! Keep the vids a comin!!
Did this to an Acre of meadow last night. Got it cut once. Took almost 3 hrs and tank and a half of fuel. POULIN PRO. Pretty much the same as that old craftsman.. 17.5 🐎 . Bogged down once at the start. 90 degrees today. I'll cut it in the heat. That should stunt it for a bit Great Vlog. !
I did and I noticed that as well and it seems like what is happening is when the blades are not working hard the engine kind of relaxes a little but then when you start cutting some thicker stuff you hear the engine dig in and increase RPMs… Almost like it’s meant to do that to save fuel or something but I don’t think so
That old mower is doing pretty good...I got a old John bear riding mower I’m keeping for jobs like that wen I start my business keep my good mower out of the crazy stuff..
Hi, looking into used lawn tractors. Is the LT1000 stock? Is sharpening the blades pretty straightforward? I need to do a 1/4 acre that's overgrown to that height. Cool video
So much for the 1/3 rule... Back in July, I did a job like that with a LT2000 and it polished the gator blades LOL! I had to cut the grass like 3x and when I was done, I looked like a Lobster. Overgrown property is hard on the equipment and just not worth the time invested because some people are too cheap to have the work done on a reasonable schedule.
I do this in a large section of my own back yard every year, but I have a pattern and never blow the majority of the cut grass form the chute into what I haven't mowed yet. I have owned a dozen lawn tractors over the years, and they would ALL do this without problem, just make sure to walk it before hand to make sure there isn't anything big laying around to bend a blade, and sharpen the blades every so often.
Dan 4.02 made me laugh I wasn't expecting you to mow down the small bush! Great job and I'm guessing one you wouldn't have been able to do without the sit down tractor as the grass was way too long for your Honda. Also I would have been apprehensive as to what snakes may have been lurking in that jungle. Keep the videos coming you inspire so many people with your dedication to helping others
I use Gator trimmer line from Big blue store in Kinston North Carolina love that store I can get all of my weed eater string their for like $2.00 and some change I can get 80 thousands of 090 thousands or thicker trimmer line but 80 thousands and 095 thousands is the closest I can get for cutting thicker grass or taller grass or weeds

Picked up a like new 2005 16hp intek iron sleeve 42 cut LT 1000 for 200. It looks like it just rolled out of the store. Seller was an retiree moving to florida. I measured the deck at highest point around 3.75. Whats the highest i can get these decks? Thanks. Ps, great vid!
@@DansVlog Thanks Dan. I got it to 4.25 with the 18" tires. Ordered some 20x10's ...hopefully that will give it 4.5 or more. Id be happy with 4.5 though. The more I toy with this thing, the more I like it. Going to sell my Regent.
I've got a rider and what I did to keep the side shoot up is to drill a hole in it then took a bungee cord put it in the hole and the other end attached it to the lever that raises the deck, it's a lot easier doing it that way instead of holding it with one hand and driving with the other. Larry
Dan please drill a hole in the grass flap and put a bungee cord on it so it will stay up don't want to see u lose any fingers keep up the these great videos
My elderly parents used to mow 10+ acres with this same mower in similar condition grass took many hours per cut .....mower is at least 20 years old keeps going.....
Hey Dan, just thinking about you. So I was washing my car with your typical wax wash solution. Then crossed my mind. What if you replace the bleach + dish washing detergent with bleach and car wax wash solution? Today I used the bleach + dish washing detergent formula on my congregated iron fence and unfortunately was a fail. Worked awesome on the house cladding. I had to use a hard brush on the congregated iron fence to loosen up the algae then rinse with a hose. The car wax wash solution worked great as well just on its own. Interesting with the UV protection, would be great for us Kiwis, we have the worst Ozone in the world!

I had one of these plenty of power mowing tall grass is easy. The problem is these tractors have no stamina. Had mine 5 years and in 5 years sears had to replace transaxle twice and it went out the third time when i junked it. I mow close to 4 acres of ground some of it hillside. @@DansVlog i have to have a heavy duty tractor as it gets used practically every day. The Craftsman 1,000 is designed for yards from 1 to 2 acres according to their spec. Dan because you do not talk to the county at least contribute to your charity for your being facilitating the work that should be doing the county would be the most fair to you even if you do it from your heart and by your own sadifacion you are excellent human being
Awesome
Ok Dan. I missed something. What happened to the Gravely. Sorry if I missed it
Paul Biel I just asked him the same thing the other day he sold it back in 2016
There go those blades and belts well done though
Thank you
You need a brush hog for that property
John S That is exactly what normally cuts back here! The county brush hogs usually pass thru every 3 months
cool video
Thank you
I would walked it with that sthil brush cutter, then got it lower enough where i can see, then raise my deck up,then knock it down, making a few passes, blowing that clipping in the woods
If I did all that the title wouldn’t make sense...
Have spent many hours on a couple of older Craftsman 42's older than this with Kohlers, assembled by AYP. Sturdy consumer mowers !
Hey Glenn! I was pleasantly surprised how this mower tackled that job

The county or city shouldn't of let get that bad that's really rough

Better than whipping puppies 🐶
No speed,edits?
why cut down small trees by the way?
Cause they are in the way
Yeah, nice dumbass fucking answer by the way!!!
Who the fuck is going to let weeds growing the thickness of baby trees continue to grow when the area is cleared by the nice dumbass fucking bush hog that levels this area every 3 or 4 nice dumbass fucking months. Fuckin' nice dumbass fucking douche
