I wanna make the point of this video clear. These are what I THINK are all the factors that effect swings. You probably don’t want a “super quick” swing, if for you to feel that way, you’re sacrificing vision. Gotta remember that you’ll end up with more extreme timings and more swings and misses. HOWEVER, look for similar trends in the cards you like. Someone like Lou Gehrig, for example, is a player I always do very well with that had high vision. This is mainly to try to pin how MLB the Show players find a swing “fast” or “slow”, so we can all understand how the game works, then decide who we do best with based off it. There is no “meta” in this. Just find what you like most 😊
I might have missed this part, and if I did that's my bad lol. But I thought the bottom left timing windows move slightly for each tendency? For ex. On extreme pull hitters, the green window will be a little more forward on the plate compared to a guy with full field tendencies. Is that not the case?
@@joemild9536 Yes, that window "moves" but it actually doesn't display as being moved in-game this year. I think they did it to simplify that feedback in the corner.
Can you give me some examples of swings that are slower? I always seem to be early on my swing. I changed pitch speeds and played around with sliders but all that did was make me constantly late. Im older player with diminishing reflexes. Do you think if I used slower swing that kept bat in zone longer i could at least get to point where Im not so early or way late constantly? Also if not too much trouble could you give me example of some batters who dont stand too close or too far from the plate.
I think this explains why Mookie hits so well for me, extreme pull tendency makes that swing feel super quick and provides a lot of power despite his lower numbers. Also, he's pretty short with a high leg kick which provides those animation cues for the swing
something to consider, to fully prove this theory/analysis. Need to get some sort of macro program to which youll swing at the exact same time every swing to which the variable of your timing isn't off from time to time (I know you are a great player but there could be SLIGHT inconsistencies in the timing). BUT this would probably further prove your point in this video
Trust me, this is something I've wanted to test myself for now MONTHS, not even just this but testing swing timing between consoles. 100% you're right, just think that's easier said than done to actually test. But I'd love to be able to one day!
@@Scann maybe check with the guys at NBA 2K Labs as they have a way to test green windows for jumpshots. Might work the same for hitting a button to swing? At least on a certain speed pitch where it’s somewhat consistent
Polanco has some of the highest vision if not the highest on my team. I hit best with him, surprised me to look at the stats after seeing this video. I always hit good with him and Brujan, obviously being switch helps but crazy that Polanco has the higher vision than all these 95+ player of the month cards and what not. Didn’t realize how low a lot of the other players had. Great video
I think some of these legends should get pull instead of balanced. They would be a lot more popular with just this change, like Piazza, Frank and Schmidt
@@fluffyducky406 definitely try it i feel like i can get to any pitch in any location with him. Outside cutters or changeups and high and in fastballs plus a switch hitter. He only has like 75 pwr vs both but he plays above dude hits nukes
Nick Castellanos was a card I pulled when he was still selling well above 90k. Accidentally locked him into collections, and now he’s never left my squad. His defense is ass but he’s my best bat by almost .200
Is the Vision stat not just the dimmer area around the PCI that allows you to foul off pitches? The 0 Vision Trout has a much smaller area around the PCI compared to the maxed out Vision
So let’s say these are indeed legit factors that effect swings, we should look into ways we can utilize this to pitch against it and have success on the mound. Just a thought.
I think so, having a swing "feel" quick is probably the move. Also, may wanna consider actually using more vision on players so your timing is more centered and less extreme
Scann do you think the new John Berti card is good enough at all (especially on All star/Hall of fame)? I am currently trying him out at CF and he has a really good swing. Only downside to using him is his weak power.
Great work on this video man. Didn't realize tendencies had that big of an impact on player's swings in game. Definitely gonna have to sift through my lineup and check these out for myself 👍
Well you don’t really “need” low vision. Don’t want it either since it’ll result in more swings an misses. However, having slightly lower vision can make the swing *seem* quicker. It’s all about finding the middle ground that works best for you 😊

Helpful thx !!
Quite possibly the most informative video on UA-cam about swings. That was some serious digging there buddy. Amazing job

Bro I rake with Mookie, yet the monthly awards Dansby Swanson, very similar song and I hit bombs with him too
which mookie do you use?
@@penguin144hz3 i do better with the love series for some reason
This is probably the most important MLB The Show 22 video made this year. It definitely needs to get out to more people.
Good stuff! That leg kick difference is clear as day
And agreed, you absolutely kill it with your production work. Thank you. Subscribed 👊🏼
Incredible video, Scann. Really helped explain things way better. I love all the info/data. Thanks for figuring all this out.
ROW BEAR TOE!!!

You should play games with just certain tendency's for example all pull hitters then all opo hitters an so on
Might be the best MLB UA-cam video of all time. More ppl need to see this because I believe you are spot on Scann. great work man

Consistency and simple swings always help like George Brett is balanced and has max vision and he’s the best card in the game
The only swing I'm effective with is the bunt.
Good stuff. I feel like I should get Grad credit for watching it. The University of Scann…
Amazing work scann. Love videos like this. Helps us pick players to address our weaknesses.
Scann doing gods work, TY!
you slowly but surely becoming my new favorite youtuber. keep up the great work bro
you sir are the goat for this video thank you!!!
Great video! Glad we have someone making content like this
College lefty did a similar video to this one too
Love it

I bought vidal brujan and 3 of my 4 hits were a perfect perfect and I immediately changed my cap to his stance
i might add him to my god squad do you think he is worth it to try out?

I never comment on videos....but this one deserves it. Good work scann. Waiting on the next one of the series I hope is coming.
That super quick swing low vision piazza looks cracked. Lmao. What a great video though.

it has multiple effects yes
Very thoughtful video. Great job man
How can you see when a player has an extreme pull attribute?
Really good stuff scann
The fact that that this video has only a 150 likes is insane. Great video man!!
great stuff scann!

I'm only able to see the hitting tendency under 'Edit Player' in Rosters outside of DD. Is there any way to view the tendency from inside DD?
Only way is the pause menu of a game when the player is hitting I think
Wow the Ultimate Mlb the show video!!
Great video Scann
Joey Wendle and brandon lowe I tear it up
i love scannalysis
Great video man! love the detail. Do you think if you react slow to inside pitches that going with a pull heavy player is better for the swing window?
I think so, having a swing "feel" quick is probably the move. Also, may wanna consider actually using more vision on players so your timing is more centered and less extreme
Yea the Eduardo Escobar card is the shizzle
why do you not use a ballplayer?
They just never have been “fun” to me, I just enjoy using the DD cards we get

I always get people quiting and never get POTG

Clemente has maxed out contact and I can’t get a hit with him to save my life. His swing feels way too long 🤷♂️
So I need a player that is a pull hitter and low vision… Explains why Acuña is the goat

Yea that makes sense. It just explains why I can turn on a 100+ fastball so easily with Acuna
So this is why I can’t hit with Roberto Clemente 😂
I thought this guy was a Yankees fan
Just repping future Yankee Mike Trout is all :)
