I bought 2 lots on Osprey and Orleans in the 90's. The dune had moved since platting in 1953 and covered the whole rear lot. When surveyed, my property line was actually on the other side of the highest point of the dune. At that time, a few houses had been built on the dune and I paid a lot for that property to do the same. I requested that the City 'resubdivide' my 2 lots into one larger lot in order to build with the proper easements and setbacks. That was approved. I also owned the lot in front of the Osprey lots at the corner of Osprey and Orleans. I waited too long. The environmentalists basically condemned my property by prohibiting activity near the dune. I couldn't even walk on my own property. I sold my property at a huge loss so congratulations to Dauphin Island for turning my slice of heaven into a nightmare.

That all worked out for them? Nature cannot be overcome.
