- San Diego whale watchers just returned from a trip of a lifetime.
Right off the coast of Mission Bay, more than 100 Blue whales were spotted.
The tour boat company, Gone Whale Watching, shared some of its incredible footage with CBS 8.
"I had never seen anything like this. This was truly astonishing," Gone Whale Watching owner, Domenic Biagini said. "It's fun to see adults, almost get that Disneyland-like feel. This is one of the greatest marvels, nature has ever put on Earth. There were so many whales on the surface, and blue whales are massive, 75 feet, it looked like you could skip from whale to whale, all the way back to San Diego."

Let’s keep that water clean for them 👍
haha tell TJ that
@@thatonebeone TJ flooding the US waters with millions of gallons of sewage every year and it is getting worse.
They boo boo in this water.....haha
Their numbers are going up.
I captain wildlife whale watch cruises here in alaska and have done so for 25 years. We are seeing more whales than ever before. Humpbacks, Fin, Sei, Grey, and Orcas
A blue whale popped up right next to me near Morro Bay about 15 years ago and looked right at me! It was one of the most mesmerizing experience of my life. Just deep knowledge way beyond us.
WoW God's creations never cease to amaze me 🙏
That would be an incredible experience.
Wow that sounds so magical!!
Wow, how special. Being near them is magical.🐳
Did it make you extremely horny for some reason?
We are so lucky to have this gentle giants of the San Diego Shore !
THESE gentle giants.
@@yettimannettii2039 ok grammar police LOL
Bless each and every blue whale in the world ❤🐳
You’ll need a PhD to do that! Numbers are going up!
Amen👍🙏💜🙏
Protect them!
Happy to tell you the numbers are increasing.
100 blue whales !!! Wow I wish I was there to witness that.
They only showed one or two at a time in the video. Marketing!
Even though they’re endangered, what the news story is failing to mention is that their numbers yes are in the 15-25,000 range, but that their numbers are rising.
Whales are sooo beautiful. Nature is amazing. Thank you God❤
Yes hallelujah
Wow! This makes me so happy. 🎉 I live on Maui overlooking the part of the ocean where numerous humpbacks come to mate and give birth, but 100 breaching in an afternoon? I have never seen that. You guys were blessed.
Magnificent! Go if able. I was honored a few years ago to see many whales, including one Blue Whale, out on Monterey Bay. She surfaced alongside the boat right next to me and was many boat-lengths long. The Marine biologists excitedly explained how rare blue whales are, saying we were in a small group of humans able to witness these gentle giants. Happy to hear there’s a large pod off the San Diego coast❤️✨🌎
That's stunning--I had no idea so many blue whales came together like that. Such an exciting experience!
I’ve always wanted to see a blue whale since I learned about them in kindergarten! They are such amazing massive creatures! 🐋❤
I’ve used this company twice back in July of 2023. It really is an amazing sight and they do a great job! Worth checking out.
just imagine how amazing the oceans must have been like 500 years ago!
PS: but wow 110-300$ do be on a Boat....
Whale hunters thought so.
why so negative and bitter? just join in on our joy of seeing whales and having an opportunity to see them
My thoughts exactly. And the midnight zone, with all those whale falls back then -- must have been teaming with life! (However, moaning about the cost is a bit rich -- it's not just "being on a boat": you're paying for the fleet to be maintained and for knowledgeable guides. A GOOD tour should be worth it. And if it isn't going to be done responsibly with professionals (who should be paid for their expertise)...it's not worth going on. I can't vouch for this place, but the fact that they're concerned about keeping the whales comfortable is good.)
@@tomtom8786 It's to push back against our sliding scale of what's "normal". We tend to think a "normal" amount of animals is whatever we saw when we were young. When we look further back, to what populations were before humans or other natural disasters decimated populations, we get a better idea of what SHOULD be.
They're so beautiful 😻❤️
That's amazing! Lucky people who get to see those upclose! Let's protect our animals
I saw one blue whale 80 miles south of san diego ONCE
Pretty crazy that they’re the largest animals ever.
I wish I could’ve seen that ❤ beautiful! 🐋
Years ago, I had a trip to Hawaii. I went whale watching and we were lucky enough to see so many even the docent on the boat was surprised. To seen blue whales like that must have been a memory for a lifetime.
Wow! You really grasp the size scale when you compare the whale to boat. Fantastic!
Magnificent. I know a beach in Monterey that you hardly see any people at. Watched many whales one day when I went with just a few people. I will never share that location. Beautiful sand and a clean beach. It was magical.
Where ? Pffeier beach?
Turn your depth sounder and sonar OFF,. Keep 1000 yds distance and don't stalk or follow.. Can you do that, probably not..
Got to chase them down for selfies and pet them and feed them candy
So sad these boats are dangerously close and causing so much pollution it’s ridiculous and now they just will allow unlimited amount of people with tours and it will destroy an already endangered ecosystem and endangered species all for greed these tours don’t care about animals just money it’s pure greed

@@user-yg6px8bd2z yeah, appalling behaviour on the part of those tour operators
Beautiful.
What a treat, very, very cool.
What a moment in time!!! Wish i was there. Wow
Beautiful
Absolutely breathtaking! 🐋
That’s incredible I hope no one hurts them! May god bless them and keep them safe
Plot twist: That guy has been using Google Translate to tell the whales to meet him there to ogle at the puny humans. Right now, somewhere off the coast of San Diego, a whale is giving a lecture on us... "The humans are a mere 1/33 the size of a T-Rex...."
My man out here speaking about a T-Rex in present tense. 😂😂😂
They seem so happy in the water! Having fun. Leave them alone!
Yay! So beautiful
0:14 for a second there I was like “THAT’S what they sound like?!”
Hey, when you compared the tongue to an African elephant, I was astounded. The heart to a car...like, wowie zowie. But, overall weight comparison to a T. rex?? I lost my frame of reference on that one.
Wow! Wow! Wow!..Wish I could be there...Love Mission Bay area.
Magnificent! And shout out to Tom Cruise for giving us the details.
This is Ruben AMEN WOW I LOVE NATURE!!! 🙏🧸💪🙌🗽👍✌️🙏
I hope God will keep them safe🙏🙏🙏
So happy there is a food supply, nature is on a rebound all over the globe.
very cool! 🐳🐳🐳
That’s awesome
Beautiful. Now if we can just keep our oceans clean!

I'm so jealous!!!
You gots to love danapoint !
That’s not Dana Point.
Awesome!
Look how big they are . They must be magical . They have to be special for sure , all of them big graceful creatures who fret nothing
they fret humans - given we almost brought them to extinction. People need to back off - those boats are WAY too close. this isn't allowed in Australia
Wow! What a lucky day!
Glorious ❤
Amazing! What a thing to witness.
Dayum I can go fishing for less than that.
So lucky!!
Super cool
Nice!
Oh you are so lucky and I am so jealous 😂
Encounters are great adventures but how many small boats are going out there? These animals are feeding and could quite possibly stress out with all the boat traffic. We have had to stop close encounters here in parts of Oz because of stress and rarity of these great creatures. This is concerning.
Beautiful wales.
That’s awesome.
We're is the video
I was in San Diego last year and did a whale watching boat tour. It was a small.....Navy boat(?) There were only six of us. We did not see any whales but did see a huge pod(?) of dolphins swimming with us. I enjoyed it but was super disappointed.
Technically there is no Mission Bay coast. Mission Beach would be more accurate. Additionally 50 miles from the shore isn't "just off the coast"
What amazingly majestic creatures they are!! Humans have to do better with animals and the planet.
100+ for 2 hrs? Thats insane! Whale watches on the E coast are usually around half that for a trip twice as long..... CA is just lost at this point
Magnificent!
Better than a Disney feel
Yet they didn’t show footage of more than one whale at a time 🤨
70 whales beached themselves and died earlier today here in Scotland. So sad.
Just terrible 😢
Tragic.
Why???
😭
Okay, Debbie Downer...
Thank you for sharing this! @MAINE!
So awesomw❤
Long Live the Whales!
There's hope !
❤❤❤
100 Blue Whales… Beautiful and Amazing sight and a VERY bad sign. An ionic frequency change.
Wow! A couple of years ago Blue Whales were rarely seen, even by the researchers. And these people are seeing multiples at one time!? On one hand I think it’s awesome, but now they’ve been seen, the people are going to go inundate them. A new experience for these whales and how is that going to affect them?
So sad these boats are dangerously close and causing so much pollution it’s ridiculous and now they just will allow unlimited amount of people with tours and it will destroy an already endangered ecosystem and endangered species all for greed these tours don’t care about animals just money it’s pure greed
be funny if they’re all trying to warn y’all of the big one, like they can hear deep seismic tremors 😂😶
Reminds me of a children's story read to our congregation a few years back: Is a Blue Whale the Biggest Thing There Is?
Sooooo RAD!
That's in the ballpark of nearly 10,000 feet of whale
Обидно, что так много слов и так мало показали самих китов😢
We saw the sperm whales off Dominica it was stunning.
The movement of the offshore shipping lane that had many die due to shipwrecks has it seems produced at least more sightings off of California. Hopefully it’s making a difference.
No fucking way 😮😮😮😮unbelievable
this is a sign of something 🤣 i need to know the last time this has happened
Yearly
I agree I think because the consciousness is shifting in the world
those ladies screaming are spoiling scene
❤
YEAAAHH🎉🎉🎉❤❤
I don’t see 100 in this video, eh?
In the wild. Where eles!?
God created them
Please protect them and don't let their world disappear because of humans

In the early 1980s my marine science professor at orange coast college Southern California said blue whales were technically extinct so few procreation was not possible. Glad to hear he was wrong.

I pray to God they don’t beach themselves.

I bet Orca's find em all the time. Prolly have lunch with em too.
Tour boats charging hundreds of dollars and private boats all gotta get in on disturbing the whales. Disgusting.

Those effing Pilot Whale eating Orca's will NEVER be able to take down the all mighty Blue Whale! I love whales...except Orca's.
