I was kayaking at the San Juan islands on Washington’s coast and some orcas went right under me
At just before 5 min in, the "babysitter" whale was so careful not to hurt them. I'm so glad it was mentioned how she actually moved her tail while driving so as no to hit the cameraman. Awesome
Thanks, for the likes sweet people, Nature and animals are how we figure ourselves out.

Sperm whales can actually make “click” sounds that are 200 times louder than a rocket launch and can kill a human.😧

That whale actually pooped on him then. Seems to have positioned itself to do it intentionaly to be honest.
I loved the clip of the diver and the sperm whale. The mutual curiosity and the whale's playful response were so fascinating.

@@michaelcaplin8969 It made me like whales even more lmao
Time stamp?
@tekodoraudor Decibels are not measured in a linear scale, but it’s based on orders of magnitude. 10dB is ten times louder than 0dB, and 20dB is about 100x louder than 0dB. 30dB is about 1000x louder than 0dB, and so on. I might not have been completely accurate about a sperm whale being 200x louder (can’t remember how I ended up with that number), but there’s an extreme difference between 220dB and 230dB. Sperm whales are said to be able to signal to each other from two different parts of the world, however, perceived sound has a saying too, as well as the effects water has on sound.
For example, a baby’s cry is about 110dB, which is half the dB of a rocket launch. Knowing how much louder a rocket launch is compared to a baby, you can imagine the difference 10dB makes when it’s up in the 220-230dB levels.
I wonder how the cameraman in the last clip was feeling. I would be screaming from joy being able to capture so many different animals in a day's work, probably after weeks or months of looking for these animals. Absolutely incredible.
If I was filming the Bryde's whale I would also be screaming of joy..and soil my swim suit at the same time.
Might've used ROVs. I don't think it'd be safe in that water.

THAT WHALE JUST YEETED THOUSANDS OF SARDINES
That whale is a....swallower
I agree. This clip is one of my favourites
The level of cooperation between animals that compete with each other and would probably fight given hard times, it's fascinating. And they do it without being able to talk to each other.

The last one is animated
@@samuelsmall991 It is not. It is heavily edited, yes, because we witness something that takes place over an hour in just a few minutes.
The Hunt is one of BBC's best, in my humble opinion. In no small part because of Steven Price's phenomenal score.

I'm a fisherman and I've seen lots of different kinds of whales and it never gets old. They are beautiful and majestic creatures and seeing a big one makes a long day fishing much better. We've seen a huge humpback right next to the boat and it made us feel pretty small in my lil 35 foot boat.

"In the days of whaling"
Okay it's significantly better regulated than it once was, but let's not insinuate whales aren't still being killed.
I agree but the thing is our entire economy was based on whaling at a moment in history. Especially sperm whales. It was the oil of the time. Thank god it stopped.
@@eduardofreitas8336 Whale blubber was up there with salt, gold, and tulips in terms of wealth.
I mean, it isn't state sponsored whaling..... possibly in some countries.
Japanese still do it illegally with large fleets. They do it for "research" and then sell off all the meat like normal. They also recently switch back to "non-research" whaling. Which is amusing because their whaling industry survives off of subsidies, it isn't even profitable. They kill them just to kill them while selling the meat to a market that has very little demand for whale meat because it is part of their "culture." Hell, they are so determined to do it, the whalers use military satellites to track groups like the Sea Shepard at sea so they can illegally whale without being interfered with.
