- It has been over 5 years since I posted my old guide for taming a parasaur in Ark Survival Evolved. Things have changed and I am happy to present my new guide for easily getting yourself one of these underrated dinos!
This video will show you all the basic info you need to tame your first parasaur in ARK: Survival Evolved. I will show you how to use a bola to snare a parasaur and how club it into unconsciousness with a wooden club. I will also show you what you need to craft a parasaur saddle and show you all of the mechanics that are involved with taming.

I have alpha ascended the island, been part of 2 different alpha tribes, beaten most bosses on at least gamma, and am currently attempting a single player ultimate ark challenge. Yet here I am, excited to watch “how to tame a parasaur.” Keep up the good work Phil! I’ll gladly watch more taming videos from you!

1200 hours in Ark and I happily spent 6 minutes listening to someone explain how to tame a parasaur
For those that cant get there dino to eat and tame its because dino food drain option set to zero causing it not to eat. Took me 2 days to figure it out

You have the best Ark videos on UA-cam. My Wife and I just started Ark a little while ago and really enjoy checking out your vids when we get stuck. We love how your vids are quick, accurate, not bloated and you speak clearly (most important for me).
My only comment would be that it would be really nice if your Ark vids were decided up into Playlist based on DLC to make them easier to find.

I can’t imaging what it’s like for someone to just now start playing ark for the first time i remember playing before any story half the dinosaurs and no tek I thought tek was a dumb idea at first but now it’s pretty much the whole story of the game

Truly the most challenging tame in ark. Many have gone mad attempting it....on a serious note do hover over ur downed parasaur less a dilo or rapter spawn in and eat it while u are not looking.

Yeah, don't hover over your tames. Lol you have a higher chance of something spawning and killing it. Even if you're there, something small could spawn and you could miss it and boom dead tame. If you leave render range nothing will spawn on your tame or be able to attack it until you come back into render

I juss started Ark with no guides a few days ago Basically spent 3 real days trying and trying to get in land but I keep getting surprised by a pissed off raptor.. 😂 so far your videos are really understandable to newcomers to the ark. Subbed and definitely using your guides. I only have a Dodo named Roger who will hopefully one day make me an general of an army of dodos. Thanks 🤟

This is how my Ark experience has been going so far
I spawn in, kill a few Dodos but I don’t have a campfire so the meat gets spoiled, I kill a few Dilos because they won’t leave me alone and that goes fine, then I try to cross some water and get eaten alive by Piranhas
Respawn, I get to work building a base and resort to berries for food, things going well so far as I manage to get a campfire set up and begin hunting Dilos and Dodos for food, walk maybe two steps away from my hut and I immediately get taken out by an Alpha Raptor, I have to then die a second time to keep the Alpha Raptor distracted while I gather my things and make a run for it to a safer area
I make it to a safer area and start setting up a new base in the Western spawn point, not a bad place as the cliff my base is being built on is right next to a water source, meaning I can just go down the cliff if I need anything (I’m still learning so things like irrigation are gonna be something I will learn later on), I die several times to the exact same Titanoboa because every time I get my stuff back and look for it, it catches me by surprise, but I finally managed to kill it with a bow and arrows
My experience so far has been a difficult one, but an enjoyable one as well

Tbh i was always scared of the parasur. I tamed rexes yutis and gigas but they are nothing compared to the almighty parasur.

Imo best early game traveling tae good speed good stamina and ovveral good stamina recharge
I always used a sling shot way easier n fun. One bola every time at least 10 shots

This one was a one off because the old one still gets a fair amount of traffic so I felt like it was needed. I may do more, we will see.

I know you have been making videos for the ARK game for a while, but it seems you aren't actually making these videos for new players, even though I have the impression that was your objective. The catch is in the details. I first noticed around six minutes into the video you suggested making bola, but didn't say much about needing hides, or how to get them. Since this is the first tame for a new player, and the basic strategy is to have a first tame that can help a bunch with the beginning game challenges, and chores, I would say the catch is in the details. I am trying to figure out why you keep saying you press F to get into the parasaur inventory. I have to press E using my PC keyboard. The bit about Narcoberries is a good one for new players since it isn't likely they will know about this benefit.
I appreciate your thought on this, I'll explain some of my choices. First off, when it comes to making tutorial videos one of the challenges is always determining what information can we assume the viewer knows. At some point we have to assume some knowledge or else each video will start with "how to turn on ARK". Since one of the main focuses of this channel has always been to make concise tutorial videos it is impossible to include every conceivable answer a person could have. I believed that it was reasonable to assume that the typical person watching this video will know where to find hide by level 9. As to pressing F, that is the default key for accessing other's inventory on PC. You can press E as well when looking at the parasaur, but since E is context sensitive, it can change in function depending on what you are looking at. F will only access other's inventory, which is why I tell people to press F, you aren't wrong, E works too. :) And yeah, the narcoberry thing is always something that is hard for new players to grasp so I had to include that.

And to think I've been raising measly 400's this whole time...this is truly an eye opener for me! And the technique is excellent! Parasaurolophus is truly the most versatile and difficult tame in Ark, it trumps my previous tames, this is a revelation! :P

If you are on single player, check in the “general” part of the settings and check if disable Dino taming is enabled. If so, un check it.

Not really, people tame them all the time in pvp cause of the player/tame detection
Every single base has one on my pve server. You telly to a base and immediately see "Fbi van detected you" or some other unoriginal name. Definitely not underrated.
Parasaur is pink, the Torpor bar is purple.
If we are walking down that road, the parasaur is salmon and torpor bar is magenta, but we wouldn't want to be pedantic now would we? ;)

You are wrong sir. To tame a parasaur you need to head over to gen 2 unlock tek bow. Go back to island beat alpha dragon. And use the ele to make a tek bow and shards. Following thay you can nock a 150 and tame using the preferred kibble
