It's no secret, everyone wants to learn to sing. And the truth is that there are a lot of ways to learn how to sing; there are private lessons, online singing courses and an endless amount of UA-cam singing tutorials to teach you how to sing.
For every step, I'll also give you an exercise that you can practice today. Ready to get started? Let's jump in.
The first way that I want you to learn to sing, is that I want you to learn to stand with the right posture. Posture is a very important part of learning how to sing better. The right posture for singing is called the tall posture because when you stand correctly, you'll see that your chest and your shoulders are both tall.
The next step in learning how to sing is to sing with good breath control. Although many singing teacher spend way too much time on breath control and breath support, it's actually a very easy concept to learn. The right breast for singing is called the diaphragmatic breath. And this just means that as you inhale your stomach is going to expand because your diaphragm contracts.
The next way to learn to sing is to sing with good vocal tone. When singing, It's good to make sure that your vocal tone is not to breath you or to nasal. One easy way to solve both of these problems is to speak sing on a 5-tone scale. In this exercise I'm going to show you how to sing on the five tone count scale.
The next step in learning how to sing is learning to project your singing voice. Projecting means making sure that you can be heard in the back of the theater from the stage. If you learn to sing at this volume, neither too quiet nor too loud, you'll find that you'll naturally get the right resonance for your voice. The best way to learn to sing is to project each node as if you're speaking it. In this way, you're going to speak sing each note that you sang.
The next step in learning to sing is to learn to sing with chest voice. Chest voice is one of the lowest vocal registers, and is responsible for the lower notes in your voice. But many singers do not sing with enough chest voice. One of the best ways to learn to sing with chest voics is to use the five tone scale on a gug exercise.
The next step in learning how to sing is to sing with head voice. Learning to sing with head voice means that you're singing at the top part of your vocal range without straining or breaking. One of the best ways to learn to sing with more head voice is to use closed vowels on long scales. In this case we're going to use an octave and a half scale with a Wee exercise.
The next step in learning how to sing is to sing with mixed voice. Mixed voice is the blending of the chest and head voices together to create one even smooth sounding voice. Learning to sing with mixed voice can be very difficult for people who are just starting out. However, there are some great exercises for this. One of my favorites is singing an octave and a half scale with the sound "Gee" as in geese.
The next step in learning how to sing is to learn to Belt your singing voice. Belting gets a bad reputation from lots of singers that do it in the wrong way. The wrong way of belting is just pulling your chest voice as high as it will go. However, this is not correct. Proper belting comes from the right resonance, rather than just muscling it up. There are lots of ways to learn how to Belt correctly. One of my favorites is to sing an octave repeat arpeggio on a "Nae" as in "Nasty".
The next step in learning how to sing is to learn to avoid straining your voice as you sing higher. Odds are, that as you're learning how to sing with these other techniques, your larynx and tongue may be a little bit tense. One of my favorite ways to learn to sing without straining is to sing an octave and a half scale on a "mum" scale.
Finally, one of the best ways to learn to sing, is to sing with vibrato. There are lots of different exercises to help you find this wavering in your voice. One of my favorites is to use a diaphragm pulse, where you use your fingers on your solar plexus in order to get the different notes to waver.
In the end, anyone can learn to sing better, and I firmly believe that you can learn to sing anything that you set your mind to sing.

    This is great!
Here’s the only problem: I’m self-conscious about practicing around people... and unfortunately... there’s always someone around.
Any word of advice or confidence from the professional?

How can you tell if your favorite singer has vibrato and how can you tell if your favorite singer has whistle register or she’s just singing falsetto or she’s in head voice

Hey Kim, thanks for your message. Vibrato sounds like a wavering in the singing voice. You can hear examples here: ramseyvoice.com/how-to-sing-vibrato/
Whistle register sounds like an impossibly high note. Definitely not as breathy as falsetto. You can hear examples of whistle here: ramseyvoice.com/whistle-register/

Hey Tushar, nothing should hurt when you're singing. That means you're doing something incorrectly.

That's right Frank! It's better to crack and learn to do it the right way than strain by doing it the wrong way.

Hey Sam, dynamics are the volumes or loudness of the notes that you're singing. Was that your question?
