Thank you for sharing your insight about this song and the band. We are huge fans of Yächtly Crëw and your video now has me looking up Status Quo songs. Not a band I was familiar with. 🚢🤘🏻🎼
Nice find! In the Yachtley Crew version, I like the emphatic "no" answer to "do you want to hear the sleigh bells in the sun," it gives good emphasis to this passage of two ironic litotes which Parfitt and Morris wrote into the song. I also like how playing cards in seagoing uniforms channels the Jam side down video.
I just watched the video of yachtly crew singing it’s Christmas Time and they make a great job of the song I hope it does well for them the perfect party song.
There aren't a ton of bands that have covered Quo but there are a few that I'm aware of - Raven - Big Fat Mama Persephone's Bees - Paper Plane Helloween - Rain Hayseed Dixie - Down Down Mago De Oz - Gerdundula Acrimony - O Baby Kasabian - Pictures Of Matchstickmen The Pirates - You Don't Own Me Dexy's Midnight Runners - Marguerita Time Great White - Again And Again
i do like this song and bought it on cd single when it was released. will check out their version sounds interesting, what other quo covers do you know, sorry if you have already covered this in another video, being new im not sure, thanks great info
I had a lovely long conversation with Wayne Morris last night who co wrote this song with Rick Parfitt. I assumed Andy Gould was the brother of Phil Gould that my partner knew from Level 42. It can't be the same Andy Gould as he died a couple of years ago surely ???
Grew up in the 60`s/70`s and became a huge Quo fan, sadly after the fabulous Live album in 1977 it was all downhill from there on in.Horrendous cover versions/terrible AOR/MOR pop albums and they just became a joke/parody of themselves.
Quo xmas song great needs more play thanks

Kasabian - Pictures Of Matchstickmen
The Pirates - You Don't Own Me
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Marguerita Time
Great White - Again And Again
I don't think The Pirates count as a cover seeing as Mick Green co-wrote it with Alan Lancaster.
@@bluesrocker91 "You don't own me" is on a Status Quo (I forgot which one...) so it should be counted as a cover, shouldn't it?
@@michaelkarlsson5966 Yeah it's on Rockin' All Over the World... But Alan co-wrote it with The Pirates guitarist Mick Green.

Scrap a bit of my post as my partner has just told me Phil Goulds brother was Roly aka Boon.
When my mind is not live - Fabienne Delsol
Camper van Beethoven did pictures of matchstick men in the 90s
It was a great cover
that's the one i was thinking of!
Check out King Kurts version of Caroline 😂
I remember hearing it here over ten years ago.
Another band covering quo was clout whatever you want

Only if you take everything seriously.
Where's the fun in that ?
I thought later albums quid pro quo and even Backbone without Rick were there best albums since the old stuff.
