I think the bloodborne pen holder looks like a skull to represent the madman’s knowledge item and since when you study and write things down, you “exercise” your brain or let’s say you study and learn something knew, it ends up giving us insight. Many players haven't finished them because they're really hard and annoying sometimes but there are some really cool bosses exclusive to the dungeons (Like 10-15) and you can even fight the queen yharnam in the final dungeon for a gold trophy and unique (but useless) item. Had to go through them for the platinum trophy and they were so much harder than anything I've played before back then

I'm a proud owner of the Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 collectors editions and statues. Dark Souls 2 was the first time I was really into the series at the launch window of the game so I went big with it. I dabbled in Demon Souls and Dark Souls but Dark Souls 2 was my first real day 1 find things for yourself experience. Glad I have something to show from that time still because my Xbox 360 red ringed and later I lost the hard drive with the save on it so my 5000 hour Dark Souls 2 save file is just gone.
