I have an 05 XT Wagon that the original owner ran out of oil. The car was from the South, so it has no rust at all on it. I replaced the shortblock with one from a 16 STI that had a slight rod knock. I replaced the valves and valve seals and re-shimmed all the lifters replaced the crank and bearings and ended up with a very healthy longblock. It is my favorite Subaru of all the Subarus Ive ever owned! I plan on storing it during the winter and keeping it forever.

Good on you for keeping her running. I bought one brand new in 2005 I was amazed at the power and handling. Only lasted about 135,000 new Valve cover gaskets, turbo, I would laugh at the suckers that actually bought 2004 Dodge Magnum or Nitros JUNK! Guess which one today, is still on the road? Not the Sube!

Congrats on 200k! Just a beautiful car. Love the wheels! We're in the same boat on the scoop- paint has gotten lousy on my '06.

My Legacy Wagon, 2004, 2000CC engine, same body as your OUTBACK, I bought it new, March 2004. Currently, with 340,000 kilometers, which is 212,000 miles. Original engine has never been opened, drives, sounds and feels like a new engine. Zero faults, no need to edd oil or coolant.Serviced every 10K km or K6 miles.. Maintained only with original parts. No parts were assembled that do not come in original Subaru packaging.
The whole car feels tight and gives a much better feeling when riding and driving, than the Legacys that came later. Not selling it, it's for life.

Get rid of all the stickers and de-badge the tailgate and this thing would look 10x better.

I hope my 2024 Onyx XT looks like that in 20 years.

I would totally get a newer XT because I like the looks but I really don't think the tech that they shove in them will stand the test of time. Will be interesting to see for sure. Thank you though!

@@subaruserenity I feel the same exact way. Just by pure complexity and sheer number of moving parts, there's no way my new Subarus last as long as my older ones.
