That was a lot of work Tom, good job on sticking with it to find the issue. 👍 Red loctite it, set it, cinch it down, let it dry and explain to him if it messes up again to just toss it. 🤣
Nice job 👍. Wonder how much would a new flywheel would cost? Blower looks like in pretty decent shape may be worth fixing. Catch you on your next video. Take care and be safe my friend.
With the coil gap not being correct, the owner might have been pulling on it for an extended period of time trying to start it before the coil got far enough off to keep him from pulling it anymore. Also, you noticed that it had been dropped. If it fell off of something and laid on it's side for a while before the owner noticed it, that could also explain the gas in the cylinder.
Patience is a virtue, Tom you’re the man 👏 you should invest in a few magnetized bowls harbor freight always has em on sale $1.99 cheap enough to put them all over the shop. Great vid 👍👍
It probably fell off of something and jarred the coil, which prevented it from starting, due to the gap not being right. The owner kept trying, which filled the cylinder with gas and hydrolocked it, which caused it to shear the flywheel key when the owner kept pulling on it. That is my guess.
When I am doing customer work, the only thing I want to know is whether it runs or not. Beyond that, I don't want to know anything. When the person giving you the information doesn't understand how the machine works and doesn't want to appear that way, I often end up getting faulty information that leads me down a rabbit hole. In order to avoid that awkward interaction and useless info, I prefer to know nothing and start from scratch just like I would on a machine I pulled out of the trash, so that I don't overlook a simple and obvious issue due to faulty info.
Don't you just love it when you have to completely disassemble a blower? lol

I was curious too Doug, looked it up and it's around $55 for a new flywheel. 👍

Maybe you should have doc come to you for his hip replacement after surgery he might be able to boogie down
All that for a sheared flywheel key? They don't make it easy to have access to the flywheel, don't they?
It’s crazy how much you have to remove to do simple things on the plastic equipment now 😢😢😢
And they wonder why we charge for our time 😮😮😮
Great video
