Did the very same job today on an Astra 1.7 cdti. Great result after stripping and cleaning. Idle is rock steady at 750 rpm after hunting and surging at idle over approx 110 rev range from about 710 rpm up to 820 rpm. Made driving in slow moving traffic a nightmare and three different drivers managed to stall the engine moving off from a standstill. Not good. Basically followed your method and it worked a treat. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and uploading.
After weeks of stalling and idle problems with my 09 plate l200 I replaced the scv with a new denso scv, which I had coded with diagnostic tool, still the problem persisted but with now an error code! Found this video and gave it a go and within 2 minutes the warning light was off and the truck behaving normal. This was 3 weeks ago and still it runs perfect! Definitely worth a go even if scv is new as they can stick also it seems.
Thanks for the video. I did this to my 2006 Corolla Verso D4D. Engine kept hesitating and cutting out(especially at the lights). Cleaned the SCV and engine a lot smoother on idle and has not cut out since. Been a week so far, Thanks again!
I did this on my 2010 3.2 montero. Same problems before. It did well after cleaning the scv. However the engine sign on the dashboard lit for hours of driving. Luckily it went away after restarting on my next drive. Im happy i watched your video. Thanks to you
Hi there from the UK, I've had an underpowered shogun 2008, sometimes I could put the throttle pedal to the floor and it wouldn't pick up more than 1200rpm, the engine light has been on for months. I watched your video and took my suction control valve out and ITS FIXED, I have power again and the light is off, many thanks, Ant. 👍😀
Am over in dumagette and have a L200 about 10yrs old. It had no power, was constantly having to drop down into 2nd gear, so i to have do the repair and wow truck is like new. I have power in all gears. Great video thanks for the share.
Thanks for the vid, My triton 3.2 was surging between around 1800rpm and 3000 rpm. I took out the scv, took it apart and cleaned it with 1200 paper and crc. Surging is completely gone now 😁
I have a Toyota Hiace D4D. It has done 250,000km. Been having trouble with it cutting out at idle while stopped and hesitating or even cutting out at low throttle position while driving. Today I pulled out the SCV and sure enough a bit of gunk in there and slight wear on piston. Fine marks as well. Polished it up as you show in the video and a good clean. Runs like new again! Thanks so much for your ideas in this video! Owe you a beer some day!
@@electriccarconversion The symptoms matched what I read on the net for a SCV. No fault code, stall after 15-30 sec idling but start up fine again, rough idle
I have a Triton ml had the p1272 error and acceleration was intermittent I did service my scv just like you showed and is now working perfectly!, thanks bud good work
Thank you so much!. When it comes to engine issues, almost all the times the manufacturers propose to change evrything. This method correctly worked for me. I t allowed to detect the root cause of the problem. Now I will change the part in order to be 100% safe.
I just want to say thanks for the vid, I was going through a period of frustration and some mechanics weren't sure, as I couldn't figure out my problem. I have a Navarra d40 , and all the signs were similar to what everyone was experiencing. Changed my SCV and had it recoded all problems solved
Yeah, I had it scanned and the error code P0089 came up indicating fuel pressure regulator, thankfully this mechanic knew his stuff and help from all the comments and the vid.
Hi solacechannel, did this worked with your truck? Coz I am having low power issue with my 3.2 strada 2010. Thanks to this video aswell. Im gona try this.
You're very welcome, Matthias! Greetings back at you from the Philippines (American living here.) Germany is my Motherland, I hope to visit someday! Cheers
i dont think so unless ask the oem. The 2011 scv does not have the big spacer shown in this video, but the fixed type scv on 2011 can reach up to 5 years for a well maintain diesel fuel system. reasonable to replace if reach 100km or 5 years.
the 2010 to 2013 onwards montero uses the non circlip triton vgt long type SCV. When cleaning it just soak its nozzle only in a carb cleaner or kerosene solvent. when a short SCV IS TO BE REPLACED with the long fixed type SCV it needs to relearn in the oem carshop. So to stay away from relearn procedure replace the short scv with a short and the long scv with long so it is plug and play. 14060A37 short scv for 2009 and below monty. while 14060A056 long scv for 2010 to 2013 montero sport.
Well today is December 14th, 2016, about 1.5 months and roughly 1000 kilometers since I did the procedure. I started having faults very similar to the faults when the SCV was initially failing. I plugged in my generic OBD2 scanner and saw an EGR error (P2413). This isn't as specific as the fault codes retrieved by the dealership at a cost of P1500 but my scanner only cost me P600. Anyways, that's a topic for a different video. I'm going on a road trip tonight so rather than recondition the part again, I installed the replacement part I have a link to above. That part did the trick and the car is running very well again. I'm ordering more of those parts as a result. It's worth noting that there are two gaskets, one o-ring style and the other flat gasket seen in the video. In the video, both stayed in place, but this time they both came off. Make sure to keep track of BOTH GASKETS. I'll try and annotate the video with regards to that. I will recondition the original SCV when I get back from my road trip/vacation, this time I will remember to polish the walls of the cylinder where the piston slides, which if you watched the video, you will recall I only cleaned with solvent. I may make another video for that. Best wishes to all.
I made my road trip from Davao Siargao just fine, but today, December 17th 2016, as I'm driving around the island I started having faults again. The physical symptoms are not exactly the same. I checked my fault log and it again says EGR system (the same P2413) . I believe I may actually be having EGR issues not SCV this time around, though perhaps a result of my frequent SCV faults prior to reconditioning my SCV. Time for more learning.
Ok, so on 12/19/2016 I took my car into Mitsubishi Butuan. They picked up the same EGR (P2413) error. I went ahead and had the 25k service performed and had them completely clean the EGR valve, EGR intake and the throttle body/intake manifold. There was a ton of carbon, the valve itself had 2-3 millimeter of build-up. I'm betting the car didn't have its 15k service when the EGR should have been cleaned, especially since I bought it at 15k. The EGR valve is very expensive and I would highly recommend cleaning everything before kicking down for a new part. I was told EGR valve should be cleaned every 15k. Car made the drive back to Davao city with no problems or faults, infact performance is greatly improved. (I had more power and smoother acceleration with reduced knocks.) I'll clean up my other SCV and keep it as a spare.
MonteroGuy if you getting a egr error check it for carbon build up egr returns exhorst gas back to engine i did a block off but if you do this you need to drill a 13mm hole in the butterfly on intake if you do a search on soot bild up you will see what im talking about
the clunk noise and wine would be your front diff engaging as it is held off by vacuum as i found on my when i was trying to spin the frond drive shaft with the car off started the car and it turned freely
Yes, anytime after you fix something that was throwing error codes. The error codes should be cleared and reset so you can gauge if the issue has been resolved according to your ECU.
Hi ihave my mitsubishi strada GLS V 2012 model with same problem, when ichecked my scv it doesnt look like that. Theres a circle thing blocking the inside and its look like it is fixed with tha eloctronic.
I think they tried to fix the problem with a bigger solenoid in later models and made them less serviceable. I don't know much about the newer ones. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you got it figured out.
Hi i also have same issue with my 2008 montero 3.2 L DID... just serviced SCV as per your video and it is super good now... i want to know that how long does it will work?
Rodney Mc caughey Is your Jeep a common rail diesel? Does it have On Board Diagnostics II (ODB2)? (Vehicles made after 1996 should have.) If so, you can hook up a scanner and get the fault code which should indicate the exact problem. If it's the SCV, it should say so. If you're in the Philippines, you can get OBD2 scanner cheap on OLX ssl.olx.ph/i2/item/elm327-bluetooth-obd2-obd-2-obdii-scanner-factory-sealed-ID7G62w.html?
I have the same problem in my Montero 3.2 diésel. I’m going to follow your useful video but I have a question. Do you need restart the system with a scanner after put the SCV again?
Please do let us know how this SCV cleaning goes with your 3.2L Montero. To answer your question regarding the check engine light. The check engine light needs to be reset after completing a repair. I know how to do this using scanner, though I think I have heard there may be techniques for resetting without scanner, I'm not sure how. I'd suggest buying an inexpensive ELM327 scanner.
Hi please i have a problem with my Nissan np300 , My scv got a faulty i changed but now if the engine runs or the engine heat the scv fault again.i change it five times still.so please what can i do next, because i changed the pump, filter, injectors, remove fuel tank but still
@@kingsleyarizi704 That sounds very frustrating. I would make sure to get a good engine scan and try and address the specific error codes. I once had a low voltage battery cause my engine to fault and it isn't throwing codes very often, but one time I see a low voltage at the pump error or something like that. So it could be an electrical is Issue. Scan and scan often. Keep knocking out those code problems.
I put a brand one scv in my triton after having issues old one was stuck shut, put a new one in 3 days later same issues and it was also stuck shut I freed it up and put it back in and drove fine for a bit and now same issue, I might take it back out and do what you did and see how I go
hi monteroguy, i have a monterosport 2009 4m41 diesel engine and been having the same problem of losing power, is the part sold in the link the same one used for my engine? or do you think i should try to clean it first before replacing it? thanks lot.
I want to add, also please check your fuel lines, especially line which goes from the fuel filter to the fuel tank. Might as well check the fuel filter and the strainer (located inside the fuel tank).
Thanks for the great video. I am wanting to do this myself, but the service manuals say that the ECU should be re-learned once you replace the SCV. Can you recommend a good OBD tool or something to sort that out? thanks
I tried this method on my 4M41 Strada 08... Worked for about an hour... Then suddenly it shut off for no reason. Now the issue is back.. Any more suggestions on what to do next about this?
@@bisayanibai4809 a scan is a great place to start. I am no exist, but I would think a fuel pressure drop would be the cause of a leak being reported. I would check all fuel system connections, houses, and seals. When you pulled the SCV, were you careful with the flat gasket and o-ring?
@@electriccarconversion Yes I was careful.. The gasket was safe. But for assurance, I also changed my O-Rings, the small one and the big one. The acceleration of my Strada 08' became better than before. It became quick and smooth. But it still shuts off. But not the same as before where it ALWAYS shuts off especially when I let off the accelerator pedal. I don't know what to do next. I was also reading some forums and I did what they said there but it still shuts off. Running out of ideas hehe.. Can you give me your contacts or where I can send you a photo of my SCV when I took it?
hi sir, i have a question in replacing scv.. did you replace also the black gasket of the scv when you replace it with new? im gonna DIY it. any important info or advice before i do it? hope to hear from you.
garry naval there are two gaskets, a flat gasket and a round o-ring style gasket. Make sure to watch for both when you pull the SCV out. If you notice in my video, both baskets stayed in place. I took it off again at a later date and both baskets came off. If still in good shape, and if clean, sure, use them again. Perhaps put a little clean oil on them to help preserve them and seal. Good luck.
what is the parts oem number? Is it 1460A037? that looks right but i already bought one that was too long and diameter was wrong... dont want spend money for wrong parts
That is the correct part for my 2009. There may be SCVs that are designed to work with the vehicle or are compatible and look different. Though I wouldn't know about and can't speak about those.
Great Video ! I have a L200 same exact engine as your's , the engine stops while driving and i don't have power between 800-3000 rpm . I serviced the EGR valve and the MAP sensor and it-s al ok there , should i try the Suction Control Valve to see if it makes a difference ?
KISS ANDRAS I'm glad you liked the video. If it were me I would buy a cheap OBD2 scanner. I sell some on OLX. Get the error codes and see if the error codes name the SCV. If so, then you found your culprit. You can then repair the SCV and reset your error codes. Let us know how it goes. Cheers.
Hi , i have an OBD II scanner . I have 2 fault codes P0093 and P0107 , one of then is the MAP sensor but i checked that and the MAP sensor it”s working ok . Maybe I have a problem with the injectors , but after 2 mechanics have seen the car I have no answer from them
P0093 Is fuel system leak detected. You may perhaps take a careful look at your entire fuel system and look for leaks. When my SCV was bad I had an error code specific to SCV. That said, it likely wouldn't hurt to clean your SCV as shown in the video, but I'm not sure it will solve your current issue.
Upon further reading P0093 indicates a leak between the mechanical fuel pump and the injectors. Perhaps search there. Also, if you do remove the SCV, keep an eye on the two gaskets, one flat, one round that go between the SCV and the fuel pump.
I will search between the mechanical fuel pump an the injectors but I also read that P0093 is a large fuel leak wich is asiciated with an injector being cloghed and the ECU interpreting it like a leak... This i've read at an L200 fanclub
Hi. Nice video sir. one quick question. Will the check engine lit if you have problem with your scv? Or you can scan it even no check engine warning? Thank you in advance
hi there! Thanks for the great video man! I have the same ( 2010 Triton, but with the montero front/ 4d56 engine) literally having the same issues and now just had EGR issues. I just swapped out my SCV but had similar problems ( i'll check again after swapping our my EGR), but thanks for the great vid!
RUSSEL Wong, what makes you think it's EGR valve? I'm not suggesting it isn't, I'm just curious about your diagnostic process. I also ask because my non dealership OBDII scan I just did on my failing car came up as a generic EGR system fail. I replaced my SCV based on the failure symptoms being similar to the previous problems and problem solved.
heya! What happened is, i got the same exact issue as you ( same engine and all), check light, limp mode, off engine, hear the big " clunk" noise. initially swapped out fuel filter and was happy, problem happeend again and got worse ( after 1 week) Then googled up and changed out SCV. SCV changed, was happy, 1 day later, check light came on, this time for EGR issues, cleared it , but it came on every time i started the car. then this time, the car would go into limp mode about 2 mins after u start driving ( now it was getting predictable) Just got the whole EGR changed out ( my EGR is blanked off, but forgot, the EGR motor is still open to the exhaust, whole EGR is choked up, So now, everything changed out, check light off, so far so good :) Somehow or arather, i feel the EGR and the P0093 code issue with the SCV is somehow linked :) just take note :)
Does your montero sport hv black smoke problem when u encounter this issue? I hv done all necessary service to counter black smoke issue and jerking problem but it still the same… only thing I hv not done is servicing the scv on my 2009 montero sport. Just need more advice b4 doing my scv service like what u did. Kindly advice thanks
The black smoke, and jerking are limp mode characteristics. Pull over, turn off and on your car. Read your error codes, they should point you to the problem. You can always try and service SCV.
a very good sharing, i having rpm drop while driving, from google search and your vdo i believe its was SCV problem too. i will service it before change new one. is it GAP ... ( joking LoL ).
Hi MonteroGuy, If the SCV has a bigger clearance after you use sandpaper would the bad fuel come in directly? How's your montero so far? Did you replace it with a brand new SCV?
Mark Sia, so far so good. I've since also picked up an OBD2 scanner just to confirm what I have observed from driving. It drives well and idles well. To answer your question, I suppose with increased tolerance, the potential for dirty fuel to contaminate is increased. Though I would argue the tolerance increase is minimal and I would also suggest we swap out our fuel filters on a more regular basis. Though these fuel filtets are fairly expensive, I'm working on ordering some from the factory and will offer them soon at a steep discount to what the stealership is selling them at.
Cool. Were you able to buy from the OLX link you shared? I'm thinking of ordering one from him and temporarily doing this method you shared. Is this seller of SCV legit? Appreciate your feedback. :)
Mark Sia, that seller is me, so I'm going to be biased and tell you, I'm legit ;). I didn't need the part because my fix has worked so far. It's a high quality part.
Hi, thank you very much for this video. My Isuzu Dtec/dmax 3.0L, 2008 started stalling and refusing to idle. the air meter sensor still works fine and is free of dirt. I therefore suspected suction valve. Today, 26.11.2016, I performed surgery on my suction valve as you had shown in your video. I dont believe it. The truck idles fine, smoother and no stalls The Isuzu agent locally had told me the price of a new one is USD550. Thank you very much.
Hey MonteroGuy, I have similar issues with my 2010 UK L200 2.5 DI-D. When watching your video, I had one question I couldn't answer. You found scoring on the piston and cleaned it up using the paper and drill combination, what about the bore inside the valve? Did you notice any scoring inside there, if so how did you clean it? Do you know if you can purchase the o-ring seal and gasket for this to do complete overhaul?
Mizungo 512 later I did realize this job could be done more completely by polishing inside the cylinder. I purchased a dremel tool and buffer bits and polished the inside with some toothpaste. I may upload that video soon. I think doing both is best. My gasket and o-ring were still good and I didn't need to purchase, so I don't have a source. Please feel free to link if you do. A gasket set is included in the OEM replacement part I subsequently sourced and offer for sale in Philippines for P4500 ($90).
Hi MonteroGuy, thank you for the informative video sir. Just a quick question, after replacing the SCV, do I need to have it reprogrammed or something? or is it a straight up plug and play replacement? Thanks in advance!
Thank you sir! I procured a Denso one, sadly before seeing your video and links, and the shop where I will have it installed gave me a heads up to have it reprogrammed. But based on the video and your expert advice, NO NEED! haha Diagnosis already set me back P1,200 in Mitsubishi dealership.
Darren Ferenal I am not really an expert. Maybe they mean clearing the errors from the ECU. I sell OBDII scanners on OLX for P600 ($12) that will allow you to do the same, and read error codes in the future.
Hi. I got mine diagnosed with scv. I was yet to replaced it but the shop already relearn my car. Upon the scv replacement should i have them relearn my car again?
Joaziel Bonganciso, you're welcome. So far so good with my fix. Looking back, I think buffing the inside of the cylinder would be a good idea too. Let me know if this works for you.
How did you fit the o-ring back? (the bigger/outer one). It is significantly smaller than the groove on the SCV. I couldn't put it back, I had to make my own o-ring...
During this shoot, mine actually stayed in place. The O ring shouldn't be too much smaller, and should go around the base of the shaft. When inserting the SCV, care should be given to make sure the o-ring seats properly before/when tightening.
after replacing u can check target common rail pressure and actual common rail prressure by using handtester.. it should be a minimum difference 10000kpa..
May I ask the performance and quality of the scv from China you have used in your Montero? I'm considering one since the original part is expensive and we our not sure of our diesel quality here. Hope to hear from you asap. Thank you!
Hi there hailing u from the caribbean. Got an L200 did , starts only when the highpressure sensor is plugged out with the camshaftsensor and after it starts no acceleration. When its plugged in no start. I got a new scv will try to see if this fixes anything. Did u have the same issues concerning this? Rocher
@@electriccarconversion ok i see , when i scanned the vehicle and no codes. Im searching online if anyone have the same issue but nothing. Thanks for the contribution, if you could help me, I had fuel, where is the suction valve, the mechanic tells me that I should change since it is damaged, the leak was in short urban areas, it is changing and it is working well and there was no leakage, but I made a long journey and when I reached the destination I fixed and followed the leak the part of the suction valve is soaked with fuel, much less than before: I bought the original suction valve and with it came the valve or an oring (jebecito), the mechanic changed it but did not put the oring, just put the package that is equal to the valve cover that was already there, I assume that the leak that is why it is not hermetic, IF IT IS CORRECT NOT TO PUT IT THE ORING (jebecito) that came; or what may be going on for there to be fuel leak, is L200 4x4 year 2008 diesel, grateful for your help.
I would think you should put the o-ring seal in there if it wasn't already. Sometimes mechanics use formagasket, or sealant, and this is more often than not a bad idea. Chunks os sealant can break off an clog oil cooling channels etc.
Sir, I thought you could help me. I have a montero 2011 gls v. And it minimally splutters oil from the dipstick. No smoke whatsoever. Is this a concern? It is always been maintained by mitsubishi.
Richmond Guiwo sounds like the seal on the dipstick that should keep oil from coming out is worn or missing. Just my guess, and it's hard to tell without seeing it.
Hey Gulwo. I just had a Mitsubishi L200 having the same problem of pushing out the dipstick and spraying oil in the engine bay. It could be as simple as having a worn o ring on the dipstick that no longer holds the dipstick down or as serious as having worn piston rings on one or more pistons. This in turn leaks PRESSURE from the combastion chamber down into the engine creating excessive pressure and therefore escaping throuh the weak links, the dipstick. In our case, it was worn piston rings and from there on yoj have two choices. Either get another used engine with the risk or have your engine rebuild, both could be expensive. We found another good used engine and installed it. All problems solved. Hopefully you find a solution. Let us know.
Just a follow up, i DIY replace the SCV , fuel filter, and air filter with a brand new one, and all is well, and now im trying to clean the mass air flow sensor to give it a boost..
hi Mitsubishi 2.5 diesel turbo is stalling when the engine is cold. check light comes on and the van cuts of. it starts back fine. no codes shows i would like to try the SCV do you think it can be my problem?
i have a 2010 mitsu montero and i have a problem on power my rpm stays in 2000 and my generic scanner got a dtc p0089 and p1272. Got my SCV replace, tank cleaning, fuel filter replace. Seems nothing is working for me. Do you have any Idea ? thanks
adkyn duran I don't know actually. Let's hope someone chimes in here with some useful advice. It seems are generic scanners often produce relatively generic codes. I think we need to get applications that are specific to our make and model which can give us more useful error code interpretation. There is always the painful act of taking a car into the dealership and paying the money to have them scan. They will often then discount the cost of the labor against the cost of the scan. But the quality of service at these dealerships varys greatly. Good luck, keep us informed.
I 've pull out the new SCV and did'nt erase the fault code and put the old scv back in again. It runs but with no power and the rpm stays at 1500. I drove the car near the mitsubishi service shop and let them check for fault. What a surprise they got P0089 the same with my fault code reader result pinpointing the SCV itself. I said that I have a new OEM SCV with me and I let them install the new one. They have a laptop scanner to erase or reset the fault and it was erase perfectly. The car runs smooth and with power. What I see here is that my Innova 3130c is not capable on erasing that kind of fault. thanks bro. note : They clean my airflow sensor with a brake cleaner and little spray with an airgun.
adkyn duran thank you for the follow up. So it seems that it was the error code itself that the generic scanner was not able to fully erase that was causing the problem? Is that what you're thinking?
Yeah, that is a good idea. A polishing compound on a rag. I did suggest using toothpaste on a subsequent video where I discuss polishing inside the SCV cylinder. Thank you for comment.
Rodney Mc caughey, I'm glad to hear it's running better. The 180 degree flip worked for a short time with me. Hopefully the part cost is reasonable. Cheers
Hi! I have a Mitsubishi L200 and sometimes it doesn't have power. I mean, in 2nd gear full throttle, engine is revving at 4k rpm, but the speed is about 60km/h (before it reaches almost 90), and after a while the engine is ok, no problems after that. Thank you, and hope u will understand, sorry for my bad english :D
dany danutz558 I've had the U1101 error, and I believe it is a code pertaining to an error occurring in the communication between the automatic transmission and the ECU. As I have a manual transmission, I disregard this error. Is your transmission a manual?
dany danutz558 what are the other error codes? I had a problem line this, no error code, except one time, low voltage. Please check your battery voltage is good. This can be a problem. Other than that, someone's difficult to diagnose cars based on general descriptions. Let us know what you find.
U1510- P/W(RL) LIN Timeout/Not Equipped U1511- P/W(RR) LIN Timeout/Not Equipped U1512- P/W(RP) LIN Timeout/Not Equipped U1101- T/M CAN Timeout/Not Equiped These are all the codes, before the car didn't have any code. Also, these codes appears at ETACS and KOS/Immo/Keyless on the tester P.S. The battery is almost new
jn ep I replaced with the one I serviced. Fuel consumption seems about the same. Hard to say because I hadn't driven enough in city before the problems started happening.
I stumbled upon your video because I have the exact same problem and same car model as well. The mechanic is charging me 15k in pesos for its replacement (SCV). :(..Anyway sir, I would like to know if it fixed the issue in long term.thanks for the video.

MonteroGuy . Actually ddnt indicates in ip cluster meter and we check use our scan tool diagnostic. Both sensor are show in relationship together just like lover joke. We noticed that these se snsor are actually operating togther FRP for rate of fuel pressure inside the common rail. And scv for for control the regulations of the fuel.
@@royharper7426 That makes sense. The sensor that indicates how effectively the SCV is working then, perhaps? I'm thinking that if a sensor was failing you would dramatically different and erratic readings, to the point of failure yup send any reading. I'm wondering if that reading is used to determine SCV OBD2 codes, and I'm wondering if the FRS has its own OBD2 failure code?
MonteroGuy hello, Yesterday I did the job exacly how you did it and the engine is running smooth (opel astra gtc 1.7 with Denso injection). Thank you so much! Hope to be as lucky as you are! :)
hi just replaced mine a year ago and it went surging again after 7000kms. does the scv really breaks that fast? scv came from casa.. thinking of getting a hi performancr spec scv instead of oem
My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that the tolerances on the hi performance SCVs are increased. I believe what we are doing here is the same thing. After we finish polishing the tolerances should be slightly increased.
I just refinish the scv like u did in the video and im happy to report that it worked. Running gppd for 22 days now thanks for the video it helped alot

Glad it worked for you. Cheers!
I'm pleased to hear this!
I did this on my 2010 3.2 montero. Same problems before. It did well after cleaning the scv. However the engine sign on the dashboard lit for hours of driving. Luckily it went away after restarting on my next drive. Im happy i watched your video. Thanks to you
I use a cheap OBD2 scanner to check codes and reset the light after repairs. Highly recommended tool.
Thank you for your video... No one knew what is wrong with my l200... Now its running perfect...
You're very welcome. How did you figure out it was your SCV causing the problems? Cheers
thanks Bro. did mine exactly the same procedure of yours and 2mos now working well. back in kicking dirt on the road

My Strada makes same noise when turning off while moving! Funny! They want me charge 16,000 peso for one n glad I found your video. God Bless
Exactly what happened to me. The dealership gave me the proper motivation to find alternate solutions.
Am over in dumagette and have a L200 about 10yrs old. It had no power, was constantly having to drop down into 2nd gear, so i to have do the repair and wow truck is like new. I have power in all gears. Great video thanks for the share.
It's the feedback like yours that really make my day. I'm glad to have helped. If you're ever in Davao, hit me up for a beer. Cheers
Thanks for the vid,
My triton 3.2 was surging between around 1800rpm and 3000 rpm.
Great to hear another success story, especially on different a vehicle! What lead to you suspecting it was an SCV issue?
@@electriccarconversion The symptoms matched what I read on the net for a SCV. No fault code, stall after 15-30 sec idling but start up fine again, rough idle

So happy to hear another success story! Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you so much!. When it comes to engine issues, almost all the times the manufacturers propose to change evrything. This method correctly worked for me. I t allowed to detect the root cause of the problem. Now I will change the part in order to be 100% safe.

Yeah, I had it scanned and the error code P0089 came up indicating fuel pressure regulator, thankfully this mechanic knew his stuff and help from all the comments and the vid.

@@electriccarconversion hi brother how to fix hard starting engine? i change already the fuel filter hard same hardstart, thanks
i dont think so unless ask the oem.

Matt Quebec thanks for the information, Matt!
Don’t you have to do a relearning of the supply pump when you replace your SCV? How did you do it if so?
i didn't have to do a relearning if the supply pump. Honestly, I'm not sure what that is.
(I had more power and smoother acceleration with reduced knocks.) I'll clean up my other SCV and keep it as a spare.
thanks for all the explanations. I will be cleaning the SCV tomorrow for my primera p12 so watching your video was very useful before my try.
James Brock nice! This to know. I hope there wasn't much damage since when the diff tried to engage.

garry naval there are two gaskets, a flat gasket and a round o-ring style gasket. Make sure to watch for both when you pull the SCV out. If you notice in my video, both baskets stayed in place. Good luck.

You should get a check engine light if having significant SCV issues. Though it may not light as the issues develop.
hi there!
Thanks for the great video man!
I have the same ( 2010 Triton, but with the montero front/ 4d56 engine)

I just swapped out my SCV but had similar problems ( i'll check again after swapping our my EGR), but thanks for the great vid!
RUSSEL Wong, what makes you think it's EGR valve? I'm not suggesting it isn't, I'm just curious about your diagnostic process. I also ask because my non dealership OBDII scan I just did on my failing car came up as a generic EGR system fail. I replaced my SCV based on the failure symptoms being similar to the previous problems and problem solved.
heya!
What happened is, i got the same exact issue as you ( same engine and all), check light, limp mode, off engine, hear the big " clunk" noise.
initially swapped out fuel filter and was happy, problem happeend again and got worse ( after 1 week)
Then googled up and changed out SCV.
SCV changed, was happy, 1 day later, check light came on, this time for EGR issues, cleared it , but it came on every time i started the car.
then this time, the car would go into limp mode about 2 mins after u start driving ( now it was getting predictable)
Just got the whole EGR changed out ( my EGR is blanked off, but forgot, the EGR motor is still open to the exhaust, whole EGR is choked up,
So now, everything changed out, check light off, so far so good :)
Somehow or arather, i feel the EGR and the P0093 code issue with the SCV is somehow linked :)
just take note :)
RUSSEL WONG, thanks for the descriptive feedback! EGR issues sound complicated to diagnose.

I'm thinking of ordering one from him and temporarily doing this method
you shared.
Mokhitli Khoabane Congrats! I'm so happy this worked for you too! I bought some tools with the money I saved :)
Hey MonteroGuy,
I have similar issues with my 2010 UK L200 2.5 DI-D.
Darren Ferenal, straight plug and play.. Provided you don't have other issues. I had an EGR issue and low battery issue. All good now.
Could you post the link here sir? I might need to buy one for maintenance concerns as well. Thanks a lot.
Hi. I got mine diagnosed with scv. I was yet to replaced it but the shop already relearn my car. Upon the scv replacement should i have them relearn my car again?
thanks for the video!

Thanks for the contribution, if you could help me, I had fuel, where is the suction valve, the mechanic tells me that I should change since it is damaged, the leak was in short urban areas, it is changing and it is working well and there was no leakage, but I made a long journey and when I reached the destination I fixed and followed the leak the part of the suction valve is soaked with fuel, much less than before:
I bought the original suction valve and with it came the valve or an oring (jebecito), the mechanic changed it but did not put the oring, just put the package that is equal to the valve cover that was already there, I assume that the leak that is why it is not hermetic, IF IT IS CORRECT NOT TO PUT IT THE ORING (jebecito) that came; or what may be going on for there to be fuel leak, is L200 4x4 year 2008 diesel, grateful for your help.
I heard it will just occur again in the future, would it be best if you just install a new one?
2.5 yes later mine is still good.
Ok sir.. im thinking of just cleaning it like you did ,how bout the fuel filter? Is it best to replace it too?
@@dustycoun3807 Yes, good idea to replace fuel filter.
Just a follow up, i DIY replace the SCV , fuel filter, and air filter with a brand new one, and all is well, and now im trying to clean the mass air flow sensor to give it a boost..
@@dustycoun3807 I'm always halt to hear people are having success. Thank you
hi Mitsubishi 2.5 diesel turbo is stalling when the engine is cold. check light comes on and the van cuts of. it starts back fine. no codes shows i would like to try the SCV do you think it can be my problem?
No codes show? I think you need to get codes, or get old school mechanics opinion. I think you'd be taking shots in the dark otherwise. Good luck.
@@electriccarconversion hahahaa it was the SCV it worked!!!
@@stephenaziz3950 I'm happy to hear that! Congrats
what's the sign if sunction control valve is not properly working?
I received an OBD scan alert which indicated a bad SCV.
When u replace de SCV.. was necessary reset de fuel pressure pump?
It was not necessary.
i have a 2010 mitsu montero and i have a problem on power my rpm stays in 2000 and my generic scanner got a dtc p0089 and p1272.
Is that what you're thinking?
high pressure pump
did you have any more issues after that?
I did not have any more problems from my SCV.
I would polish with chrome/metal polish instead of using sandpaper. Used this method to fix the sticky injector pintels on my 4d56 tdi.
Yeah, that is a good idea. A polishing compound on a rag. I did suggest using toothpaste on a subsequent video where I discuss polishing inside the SCV cylinder. Thank you for comment.
Hi there i just replace my air and fuel filter and my montero is shutting off its engine after. Do u think its scv replacement?
francis del rosario run an OBD2 scan and look at your error codes
Please, do you have a way to cancel the speed bell
I'm sorry, I don't know what a soured bell is.. an alarm that goes off a certain speed?
Yes common rail.
Got it sorted.
Switched it round 180 degrees.
All good
But I will replace
Rodney Mc caughey, I'm glad to hear it's running better. The 180 degree flip worked for a short time with me. Hopefully the part cost is reasonable. Cheers
Hi MonteroGuy, Thx a lot for the smart video! I wonder if you know the location of the "VVT solenoid oil control valve." Thx in advance!
My year vehicle was pre VVT.
In. My case. Poor idle sometime and engine shut off...
And i got a code p0089 pressure regulator.
Do u have any idea? Tnx
Have you tried SC V?
Hi! I have a Mitsubishi L200 and sometimes it doesn't have power. I mean, in 2nd gear full throttle, engine is revving at 4k rpm, but the speed is about 60km/h (before it reaches almost 90), and after a while the engine is ok, no problems after that. I putted it on the tester and it shows me U1101, and when i search for the code, google shows me photos with this Suction Control Valve. Any ideas? Thank you, and hope u will understand, sorry for my bad english :D
dany danutz558 I've had the U1101 error, and I believe it is a code pertaining to an error occurring in the communication between the automatic transmission and the ECU. As I have a manual transmission, I disregard this error. Is your transmission a manual?
dany danutz558 you can disregard that U1101 error because you have a manual transmission.
ok, so whats the problem when car loose the power for a while and then it is ok? :D
dany danutz558 what are the other error codes? I had a problem line this, no error code, except one time, low voltage. Please check your battery voltage is good. This can be a problem. Other than that, someone's difficult to diagnose cars based on general descriptions. Let us know what you find.
U1510- P/W(RL) LIN Timeout/Not Equipped
U1511- P/W(RR) LIN Timeout/Not Equipped
U1512- P/W(RP) LIN Timeout/Not Equipped
U1101- T/M CAN Timeout/Not Equiped
These are all the codes, before the car didn't have any code. Also, these codes appears at ETACS and KOS/Immo/Keyless on the tester
P.S. The battery is almost new
Did you replace it with a new one , what was your fuel consumption before and after you replace the SCV?
jn ep I replaced with the one I serviced. Fuel consumption seems about the same. Hard to say because I hadn't driven enough in city before the problems started happening.
did you remove the mitsubishi emblem before painting it black?
how did you remove it? planning to have mine black also. thanks
Lloyd Sangalang I imagine it was removed before painting it black, though I don't know. If was like that when I bought the vehicle 2nd hand.
Pls someone can help me?? I have proplems with a mitsubishi triton 2008 check engine light is on and my car have not torque is working not properly
Please get OBD2 scanner and scan.
Whats the problem ? Slow acceleration ?
Stops, or engine limp mode. Yes, super slow, limited.
I stumbled upon your video because I have the exact same problem and same car model as well. The mechanic is charging me 15k in pesos for its replacement (SCV). :(..Anyway sir, I would like to know if it fixed the issue in long term.thanks for the video.
Yes, it did fix my issue long term, we'll, at least it's still working well. I haven't had any issues. I'm selling the replacement SCV I bought on OLX for less than 5k, if you want a new one, check my link.
Hi. I have a similar problem on my 2005 Montero Sport GLS, I would like to know if your engine is a diesel?
Yes, diesel.
Hi there Montero Guy, is this the solution for P0088 fault code? My engine runs rough then will die. I will try your method thanks!
P0088 has to do with high fuel rail pressure so this may help. Let us know.
@@electriccarconversion My truck now runs fine after replacing the suction control valve or fuel pressure valve. But now there are 2 new code or errors. P0088FF and P0088C. I guess this has something to do with the pressure sensor. Have you experienced this? thanks
@@benj3433 I have not experienced those codes. So, you replaced parts?
@@electriccarconversion Yes, I replaced the SCV. It runs fine but the 2 codes I have mentioned above keep coming and returning even after delete. I will try to change the fuel rail pressure sensor. Thanks

Now final pcm or ecm

My suggestion is to do an OBDII scan.
do i need to clean the scv if i'm going to do a 180 degree turn?
Theodore Joseph Uy 180 degree turn sounds like a lot of work for a chance at improvement, but almost certain need to refurbish or replace soon.
Sir what about the FRP there was a Problem we Counter the Most.. We Repalce Both FRP and SCV ,, For REason no Problem
What is FPR?

@@royharper7426 thank you, why did you replace FRP sensor? Were you getting errors which indicated faulty rail pressure readings?
MonteroGuy . Actually ddnt indicates in ip cluster meter and we check use our scan tool diagnostic. Both sensor are show in relationship together just like lover joke.
We noticed that these se snsor are actually operating togther
FRP for rate of fuel pressure inside the common rail.
Hello! Is the reconditioned SCV still working, or you replaced it?
Thanks!
Still working :) 10k later.

Salut! Am facut 8000km si n-a mai oscilat relantiul deloc de atunci (exceptand cand intra in regenerare). Merge perfect, iti recomand procedura!
hi just replaced mine a year ago and it went surging again after 7000kms. does the scv really breaks that fast? scv came from casa.. thinking of getting a hi performancr spec scv instead of oem
