    Regarding the ABS delete:
    If you're sure you're gonna commit to getting rid of it, pull all of it out.
    The small benefit of weight savings won't really matter that much.
    The big thing here is you can get shorter brake lines that go directly from your handlebar to your brakes. It gives better feedback and it makes it MUCH MUCH easier to bleed the air out of your brake fluid. Once you spend 2 hours trying to get that solid lever feel from an ABS bike or even worse, a bike that has combined brakes (so that it also applies a little of the rear brake as you pull the lever for the front) you'll kiss your shorty lines everytime it takes about 4 minutes to bleed them.
    And ABS on track really isn't necessary if you have good tires (for the current temperature/weather) and the surface is in decent shape.
    You'll flip over the bike before a warmed up race tire locks up (unless you're leaned over a fair bit already).

      Do you feel like ABS is bad for someone coming from a 250 rebel? Im happy to hear i can just remove it from the ninja i am getting if i find that i dont like it... Ive just read so much about people saying it saved them and whatnot

    • @slovencleta
      @slovencleta 8 місяців тому +2

      @@89Johneboy For use on the road I would always advise ABS. No reason not to have it. For track use, see comment above. Doesn't matter what you rode before 👍

      @@slovencleta Ill be just going around the streets for now... I may dip into some track in the future but cant i remove the abs when i am ready for that? Or is there a more simple way to disable it and re enable it?

    • @slovencleta
      @slovencleta 8 місяців тому +1

      @@89Johneboy Usually the simplest and least permanent way to remove the ABS function is to just pull out the relevant fuse. If you aren't sure what you're doing, best leave it alone. And you might not even be limited by ABS even on track, depending on your aggressiveness on the brakes.

    • @NPurvis7622
      @NPurvis7622 3 місяці тому

      @@89Johneboy It's a crutch, you should never need it on a smaller bike, it's just becoming standard now because people don't practice for the worst. Whatever bike you did get, just get out and practice. I don't like the feel of ABS kicking in on cars or bikes, but that's just my side. I hope you're alive and still riding bud, cheers.

      Small bikes are more fun. Big fast bikes are only fun in the straights and the thrill of speed becomes mundane pretty fast. Small bikes are made for the twisties and are infinitely more fun in the long run.

      @@jessem9880 I've owned everything from 125cc dual sports to turbocharged literbikes, to cruisers with an engine larger than my first car, and I can say with certainty that the small bikes were much more interesting for me than the large bikes. Obviously won't be the case for everyone, but 300 to 650cc bikes are about the best for tight mountain roads. Enough get up and go to keep up with traffic, without all the weight and wheelbase of a large bike to slow you down in the corners.

      I always thought the same thing cause I had no problem driving my Camaro at 150-160. I got a bike mainly when gas spiked and I got a 400. I peg it constantly but I’ve also upgraded a lot on mine. I can see where a liter bike might give me problems cause the faster I go the calmer I get. Good thing this tops out at 132. Just enough of a rush to satisfy me :)

    • @printshiftrepeat
      @printshiftrepeat  9 місяців тому +3

      You could do it but it’d probably be a pretty tight squeeze. I’d recommend a used sv650 over this. Or if you wanted something a bit more track focused a Yamaha r7 or Aprilia rs660. The ninja 650 is okay but the riding position of the handlebars isn’t sporty enough for my taste.

      You might also check out supermotos and adv bikes. The'yre taller and many of them are still pretty solid on track when paired with a good set of tires if you want to do more than street riding. Best way to know for sure if you fit is to sit on one. Find a dealer and sift on one for a few minutes.

    Awesome video dude. Debating doing the ABS delete when I get mine ready for next year. Have you considered doing clip ons? I'm 5'6" and I've found the positioning of the clip ons to be kind of annoying when I'm trying to get in my preferred body position for track riding.

    • @printshiftrepeat
      @printshiftrepeat  9 місяців тому +3

      Yeah same thoughts I had about the body position. If I was doing only track riding I would definitely get the woodcraft clip ons. If I go track only I might get the tyga race bodywork because it allows clearance for the clip ons.

    I think Your list is comprehensive and pretty thurough. Although, as many other commentors have said, merely upgrading to a more sport focused bike will give You ALL those upgrades, and then some, like MUCH better suspension, etc.
    However: I totally get that it is more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than to ride a fast bike slow.. It's a crying shame that us here in the US market never got the lightweight two stroke GP replica bikes they got in Europe, Canada and elsewhere, they are the epitome of lightweight, super focused and FUN bikes.

    Hey man, nice bike! I also have a Ninja 400 ABS, that I did a whole lot of mods to it already. One of the things that I wanted to do, was to get rear set risers. They came with an extension for the shift rod for the left side, but nothing for the right side to compensate for the additional length. The little metal line that’s going from the rear master cylinder, is not really movable that much, it definitely doesn’t allow the rear brake assembly to move half an inch back and half an inch up. So what are you supposed to do in this situation? Get a longer rear brake line, bleed the brakes and the whole thing? Thanks so much.
