This is fantastic. I have a woke friend who is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and he doesn’t realize why… he’s looking for virtue and meaning, which is lacking in his life and worldview. I pray he finds it.
@@fartkerson Wokeness is about sowing racial hatred and the spirit of unforgiveness. I’d say their friendship is about treating each other with charity and kindness, which is the opposite of wokeness.
@@fartkerson Kinship is antithetical to wokism, it is an inherently revenge based religion. Original sin, without any hope of salvation. Legolas and Gimli overcame their racial enmities as equals, in wokism, the perceived "oppressor" must submit beneath the bootheel of the "oppressed." Wokism is just Nazism with the in groups and out groups swapped.
I would give a link to the recently published book that reveals everything about the Tolkien mythology, but that seems to be unwelcome among youtube content producers. I like Pearce, but he is a conventional Tolkien 'scholar'. The conventional interpretation is going to fall very soon, and people will finally understand what Tolkien actually gave the world and how truly Catholic the mythology is.
I've only read The Silmarillion and The Children of Húrin. I plan to read The Hobbit soon. I think I'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it as I have a good understanding of the lore and history of Middle-earth.
The Hobbit (which I read before LotR) is a pretty quick read but I feel is essential to start with that as is THE beginning of the story. Enjoy all of them 😊
You’ll enjoy the LOTR very much. There are very many references throughout the book to ancient legends and history, and Tolkien doesn’t explain them: the characters just know.
thats all well and good yet Tolkin himself said he Wrote it as a mythic work to create a separate world that was independent of spiritual allegory . Reading Catholic or Christian themes weren't his intention yet his own norms and morality ands spirituality oozes out of the framework.
He didn’t believe in allegory. It was not allegory. But the themes are directly and indirectly Catholic. And as the person above noted, it’s a fundamentally Catholic work.
there is the idea of self sacrifice yet thats a common theme not necessarily Catholic ..On the other hand in CS Lewis Narnia there was a substitutionary depiction of Aslan ( jesus)for the sins of Edmond that sold out(Judas). not leaving us to guess who's who in Tolkian LOTR
CS Lewis was also converted partially by JRR Tolkien as well. Lewis was originally an Atheist who enjoyed fantasy and met Tolkien at Oxford University in England where Tolkien explained that the reason why we are interested in fantasy is because it helps to explain the spiritual world to us. This type of explanation with fantasy and its connection to faith is one of the reasons why Lewis converted to Anglicanism and used that newfound inspiration to make the Chronicles of Narnia.
What is interesting CS Lewis an Anglican ,Tolkien a Catholic had tea together almost daily and bounced off Lewis treatments were more obvious Christian in my opinion except the sci-fi trilogy
Tolkien wasn't a Nazi. But he was a Catholic. And many Catholics were drawn to fascism. This included many Catholic clergy who became fascist leaders. Catholicism certainly isn't going to protect one from fascism.
you Cannot be a true Catholic as well as being a Fascist, love your neighbour and all that- the renewing of your own spirit within you by the Holy Spirit of God- if you are a fascist and wish to become Catholic- God will give you the choice of your own free will - choose the true faith or Nazism but you can't have both, PS there are many people in this world who outwardly identify as Christian but live there lives in total rebellion to the truth that Jesus has given us - by their fruits you shall know them
Fascism is idolatry of the state. You cannot serve two masters. If someone says they're a Catholic and a fascist, you know they're lying about the former.
A fundamentally religious and Catholic work, lol. Catholics can admire what is good in other religions or stories, without adopting it's belief system as a whole. Where there is truth and goodness, there is God. But the fullness of truth is Christ himself who created those virtues present in humanity. Paganism doesn't own the concept of bravery. The natural law and virtues are already built into humans' DNA. I love reading stories from other cultures and so did Tolkien. Does it invalidate his Catholicism for admiring? Absolutely not. What makes his work so amazing is that believers and non believers love it. Universal human truths are in it.
The Socialism. The insistence that only the rich are evil, and everyone poor (or white, or Protestant) is pure and will always share, is a pernicious, demonstrably flase belief.
As an atheist, got to admit, "Satan was not looking in Nazareth for something to happen" is such a cool line.
He has a book called Faith of Our Fathers, The history of True England, i enjoyed it alot

Gimli and Legolas's friendship is pretty woke. Overcoming racial enmities is central to woke ideology.

I love this! I’m a huge fan of LOTR

His biography is rough read but very REAL

It's AD Age!

My Father told me.

The Spanish dictator Franco made Catholicism the state religion. Many SA dictatorships were/are conservative Catholic.

I guess you're not aware of the enormous Catholic mission to hide and protect Jews under the Nazi regime.
Great!
Yall liberals
Wow, new age stuff.
Nah the new age religion is not Christian, there are many aspects of it that lead totally down the wrong path
It's all so tiresome

LOTR is Pagan
Not Christocentric
That is a particularly ignorant statement.
Not according to its author.
