  • Spring is finally here, and we're starting our garden! Join us as we construct our raised metal garden beds from Vego Garden, and fill them with organic garden soil.
    We decided to go with a raised metal garden bed from Vego Garden. With inflation and the high prices of lumber, it was more affordable in the long term to go with a metal garden bed from Vego. We are so hopeful for this experiment in our first "real" garden, and hope to produce a bountiful harvest of vegetables and fruits for our large family.
    Use the link below to purchase your Vego Raised Garden Bed and our family will be blessed!

    I’ve had my Vego beds for 3 years and absolutely love them. I damaged a panel last year and it was easily replaced. 👍🏼

    Put perforated bottomless 5 gallon buckets in each of your beds topped with gamma lids. Add earthworms and you will now vermicompost in place with your vegogardens using kitchen scraps. This adds nutrients and water to the beds in an easy and fun way.

    Looking good 👍🏻 Brandy you did make me laugh when you said ooo it’s hot today while leisurely watching Brian doing the manual bit 🤣 I know you were helping it just made me laugh how it came across! I love Becky from Acre homestead she’s so inspirational and I love how normal she is and shares her flops as well as her successes, mainly thinking about the fermented onions 🤣🤣

    I got those photo storage containers for my seeds when I saw Shelby at the Queen's Cabinet a few years ago. But I saw Becky with them this year. They are awesome!

    The raised beds look fantastic, I can't wait to see your vegetables going in. You might want to put net tents on them to keep the butterflies and bugs off, and if you get slugs and snails a beer trap works brilliantly. Evan looked so cute helping fill the beds, but then he is such a adorable little boy. Have a wonderful week 💞

      Actually keeping the dogs out of them is the main problem! They think we put them there specifically for them to jump in and dig 🤔🙄😳

      @@OsoFarm I’m growing cucumbers and okra in it. The cucumbers will grow onto the trellis in the middle and the okra is on each corner.

    Why did you put the raised gardens on the cement patio?

    • @funprints1
      @funprints1 2 роки тому

      Isn't that the entire point of a raised bed? To have enough room for your roots irrespective of where you place it?

    • @kevinfoley7704
      @kevinfoley7704 2 роки тому +2

      @@funprints1 That's not really the benefit of raised beds. If it was you'd be better off using a bunch of large pots and not leaching the cement into the soil and staining a nice patio. The pots would probably cost less.

      @@kevinfoley7704 noted. I'm definitely no gardening pro. Maybe the poster will help us understand their reasoning

    If you have problems with squash...here is how I solved this issue.
    These Vego beds come with a rubber edge cover. So I placed 4 hula hoops in the longest bed, planted my squash, cover the whole bed with “wedding veil” a 10x15 piece, and used the rubber edge cover to fasten it down. No blowing in the wind and you can water right through it. Works fabulous!
    You will have to pollinate the plants yourself, but with squash that is simple to do. 🤷🏻‍♀️❤️🥰

    Rock on bottom for the drainage or however you say that

  • @tinacarter4844
    @tinacarter4844 2 роки тому

    Good morning..is the bottom of container have holes in it if not in a year or so you have to take out soil cuz the wood will decompose.

    • @OsoFarm
      @OsoFarm  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Tina! The Vego Garden does not have a bottom. We put in a garden liner to keep the dirt in and let water drain.
      And our hope is that the branches do decompose and release good nutrients into the soil.
