Water pump failure on 6.7 Cummins

- Quick mobile repair for a common failure on the 6.7 Cummins! The water pump pushes coolant from the radiator through the coolant system, into the engine and back around to the radiator. In my situation the bearings inside the pulley had gone bad and coolant was leaking from the weep hole. The wobble in the pulley caused the serpentine belt to become unaligned and shred itself off the other pulleys. Replacement for this concern was new water pump and new serpentine belt. All fixed!

Just worth noting not all brands have the weap hole on the bottom.. I changed out the water pump on my 2012 today with a NAPA one and it was on the top.

I'm gonna need one of those coolant bleeders. Almost feels like a necessity on more modern vehicles. Not sure where you're based out of, but awesome deal on the mobile thing.

I usually use a 120 grit Tapered Bristle Disc but I was worried about running out of air lol my generator took a crap

Water pumps on the b series is a service item , I have never seen one do more than 90.000 / 100.000 miles .
I have a 2003 with the 5.9. My water pump is the original with 183,000 miles. Luckily they aren't that bad to change unlike some vehicles.
Mine is that bad, maybe even a little less. Truck threw a belt 50 miles from home, belt didn’t snap, instead it wrapped around the clutch fan and destroyed it 😐 baaaaaaa.
every cummins i had blows oem water pump 80-120kmiles, ijust blew a rad
Wish we still had a MAC dealer. Ours got a DUI with a prostitute in the tool truck with him. MAC dropped him as a dealer. So so sad.
No way in hell i would put that nasty ass antifreeze back in! Plus needs flush! As they say pay now or pay more later?
