I was expecting to see some fade outs in between solos, but my jaw dropped when it was recorded live. This guy is a beast. I can’t play a minute of a JP solo without making a dumb mistake.
How is it even possible to not only play all these solos perfect in one take, let alone arguably better than the original on some? Truly amazing stuff, definitely one of the greatest guitar players I’ve ever seen. This is exactly what Petrucci was talking about when he said some of his fans are better than him.
Yeah he uses a surprisingly low gain tone. kinda wished he had just a tad more gain to add more of the buttery smooth goodness that are JPs ballad solos

I don’t think so prolly came from the same planet as petrucci. Unreal you give me hope for practice on musical instruments. Just incredible. Do you or petrucci have perfect pitch? Maybe that has something to do with you two ?
@@will202X i dont think it's that important. if you have 2 people, 1 with no talent and 1 with talent, if they both practice an equal amount of hours for 10 years, you likely won't be able to distinguish one guy from the other in terms of skill. The longer it goes, the less you will be able to detect it. now if the guy without talent has more drive and excitement, he will even surpass the guy with talent in terms of skill easily. IF the more talented guy also has a crazy drive and engagement, he will have the edge but there is a (reasonable) limit to your mechanical possibilities so that's why I think you won't really hear any difference. If you practiced techniques for a long time, it will not sound very different to another guy that has practiced for that long as well.
All of these are ones that really pull at my heart strings.... the most beautiful solos you selected for this as the ones that really tug at the feelings. Your playing made me cry... good tears of course. Congratulations on the level of mastery of this instrument you have achieved!

How did you set up the tremolo to be able to make those flicks like at 00:47? I have the same guitar but I cant figure out to set it up that way :( I thought that maybe I need to have a Floyd Rose to do that but you can do it with the standard PRS tremolo
Hey man, you don't need a Floyd rose Bridge to do those flicks. You need a floating bridge, which FR usually have. You need to higher your bridge a bit, enough to have leeway for a reverse dive, if that makes sense. Hope I helped!
@@AlainIbrahimlb thanks, I already have it floating, but it just doesn't wobble like that when I flick it. Did you maybe tighten the screws on the bridge or something like that?
Make sure the arm is tight. Another thing to consider is that the more springs you have the less it will wobble. So less springs that are tightened a bit more. That should do the trick. Note that less springs also means that you cannot use that thick strings.

These are all, undoubtedly, some of the greatest guitar solos of all time. But, man you're missing the single most emotive guitar solo (in my opinion). The last solo from Octavarium gives me chills every. Single. Time. Regardless, this is an impeccable video. Incredible playing, man.
