I’m so happy someone else has had the experience of discovering Dream Theater. My first experience was one of my friends putting on Scenes From A Memory while we played video games at his house back in 2006 or 2007. My life has never been the same.
Well, mine was a goosebumps-worthy. I was at the lowest point of my life so far and reach the point of wanting to get the answer of the reason of my life and suddenly while playing random songs on Spotify there goes 'Where did we come from, why are we here, where do we go when we die...'
My father introduced me to dream theater through three albums he had on cd. He thought I'd enjoy them, just as he had. By god was he right! A 10 year old me was put through images and words, train of thought and awake, all in one single long car ride. Thank you so much for that, dad!
8:01 The solo of "The best of times" is absolutely outstanding. The context of the band in that moment, the reason the song was written for... the perfect notes for a funeral song, and for goodbyes.
Black Clouds & silver linings is and has always been probably my favorite dream theater album. It doesn’t have the legendary concept status that SFAM has, but the songwriting, riff writing, and solos have to be my favorites.

Some of Petrucci's best solos combine shredding and melody all once. And some blues licks that even David Gilmore would be proud of.

Oh man, this video comes back to me almost every day. Ideally, I would be able to learn and play all this solos, but I still need to platice a bit. For now listen to your playing them so well is as good as it gets.
I'm surprised you didn't go with Another World for A Change of Seasons, The Spirit Carries On for Scenes From a Memory, Goodnight Kiss for Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Razor's Edge for Octavarium, Repentance for Systematic Chaos, and A New Beginning for The Astonishing. However it was nice to hear different solos for once and you played all of them perfectly. And playing The Best of Times was the perfect way to end this video. Probably my all time favorite guitar solo.
i think is because he try to do a continuous. Some stuff are hard to match.
I think he also took into consideration how they sounded when played together. This combination of solos just flows really nicely.
Nigga read the title it's "14 meldic dream theatre solos" NOT "ALL melodic dream thaetre solos "
Thats your favorite nigga. This was his list and his video.
X2
The fade from breaking all illusions into in the presence of Enemies pt. 1 was absolutely amazing Andrea
Good Night Kiss is propably ( imho ) the most emotional petrucci solo
HOLLOWOXDT1 the whole song is quite emotional, the background noises near the end made it even more dramatic
Honestly, it’s the song that made me appreciate Dream Theater at the level I do now
I think the same!
Andrea great job, what a great way to place all this epic solos together 🙌🏻
What a time to be alive, wiping my *ss to some of the greatest written solo's in the music industry.
Wow, congratulations. You killed that the best of times solo bro, speechless.
I'm surprised there's no Spirit Carries on.
Exactly, dont understand.
Needs 24 frets
its the first song in my mind when the title said "melodic solo"
Too sad for being in this video
Bravissimo davvero, una sintesi eccezionale del genio dei Dream Theater....Il finale poi è da brividi
3:27 that transition was so perfect =')
this is the best cover video of Petrucci's solos i have seen so far, thank you, you made my day! :D
Me sorprende que nadie haya mencionado el outro de The Count Of Tuscany
La progresión de acordes más bonita que he escuchado en mi vida
