Great review and quality content! You have a sporty chill vibe and loved your mini little dances :D haha that was awesome!! I got myself m50 mark ii. And i needed advise on some zoom lens and i got it with your video! Subscribed!!
I was debating this exact choice a few week ago and ended up going with the efm 55-200mm as I already had the kit lens ( 15-45mm ). Super happy with my choice as 200mm has the little extra zoom compared to the 150mm which helps alot in my opinion, I never knew i was needing that extra 50mm until I got my hands on it, great comparison btw, appreciate these videos alot, we need more ❤️🙏📸
Excellent point, the best reason for considering a new lens is that it will add something to your capabilities and having another lens that covers half of the range on one is a great reason to take the other option.
I would love to have a comparison between the kit lens 15-45 and 15-150 at the 15-45 range. Does it have disadvantages to the kit lens other than the size and weight?
Opinion: The last half of your video was much better than the first but still was more a review of 18mm vs. 55mm and 150mm vs 200mm. What would have helped more is better coverage of the two at, say, 100mm where they overlap. You said neither are all that good but the question is which is better. Your video may be getting additional views from new owners of the R7 that optionally comes with a version of the 18-150 leaving the question of whether people want to spend the additional $400 for the kit. If your video draws watchers that don't have an M mount camera, I hope it grows your channel. Who knows, you might even decide to buy an R7.
The 55-200 can be pretty sharp specially if you stop down the aperture. You’ll have to bring up your ISO. So these lenses are best suited for bright sunny days. The M50 is perfectly capable of getting super sharp images. It’s the glass that makes a difference. If people want to get a bright, sharp telephoto for the M50 they’ll have to invest in a 70-200 F2.8 and use an adapter.
@@AngelaZuniga make sure to get an IS version, although more expensive than the non-IS but worth the investment. It’s great for portraits. It will compress your image and obliterate your background. Great for concerts and weddings too. I don’t personally own it but I’ve rented it from my local photo store.
You know, it's like smb is spying on me. Quite recently my 18-140 nikkor got damaged, and I bought 55-200 instead. Now I'm in process of learning specific features of new lens. Thank for your video. It gives quite a complex comparison of these two focal distances.
I have the 18-150mm and its great for recording video while I am on the trail backpacking and talking to my microphone for documenting. I have loved my 18-150 is fairly light considering the ability and functionality. I used to also carry the 50 because its wider and clearer but I have decided to do without because of the weight carry when backpacking. Great video, as i was considering adding another lens like the 55-200mm. Very accurate on the nature and wild life photo's or video's. It took me almost a lifetime to finally get the butterfly's & bird I was trying to capture lol...Good stuff, thank you!
I think this is my new favorite channel. Great videos! I am switching my gear around and using a m50 and an m100 for my channel and this is a lot of great info.
I just bought the 55-200mm lens on Ebay as it made more sense to me, since I already had the short distance covered with the 15-45mm kit lens, I would have buyed the 18-150 if I didn't had the kit lens.
I already have the 18 to 150 and love it but was wondering about the distance for the 55 to 200. Since I have an ef adapter I will probably look at one of the ef zooms that goes to 300mm. That way I can just get the rf/ef adapter when I upgrade my camera in a few years. Thanks for the test shots
Great comparison video of both lenses. I own the 55-200 but did look at the 18-150. The price and extra zoom was my deciding factor. Thanks! BTW, I'm new to this and would love to see you make a how to color grade video.
Hey!!! I love my 55-200mm so I don’t think you’re missing out too much. I haven’t made a color grading video in a minute, so maybe I should look into making another 🤔. But in the meantime check this one out that I made 8 months ago: ua-cam.com/video/15AJnUyVtiQ/v-deo.html
Weeeeeellllll.... flash forward. I bought the 18-150mm too. I watched this video again, which your down to earth non "camera geek" way of explaining is awesome to me, and wanted the range. The one lens to rule them all so to speak. I make YT content and swapping lens is the bain of my existence when using the M50. Hopefully, this will make it better. I still feel I may need that 15mm for vlogging though.
Can you make a comparison between the efm 55-200, and an (preferably f2.8) ef 70-200? Would you reccomend the viltrox speed booster, or a normal adapter for the ef lens? Great video!
Great review. Currently have the stock & 32mm. 22 and one of the zooms were my next purchase. Doing SDCC end of July and trying decide what lenses b best for it with convention floor pics, random people, & some panel rooms r massive to get closer or close up of stage
I love my 22, I think either of these could work for some large panel rooms, hope this video helps you decide which one. I will say I love carrying my 22 with my 55-200 when I go places.. the 22 is soooo small and decently wide so if gives me what the 55-200 can’t 🤔
@@AngelaZuniga thanks! Ya still conflicted I do want get the 22 but one of the zooms first. I do like option of not switching lenses one less thing in chaos of 200k people convention or just have two lenses for convention & just switch to zoom when in panel rooms.
weird that it's unusual to show the zoom level of a lens, it's like photographers think everyone can visualise 200mm vs 250mm in their brains or something. Nice video appreciated.
Hello Angela! Loving your videos so much, I've been watching a bunch of them. I'm torn with which camera to go for as a beginner. M50 (prob. Mark ii, or M50 used), or EOS R50 after people have time to make more review vids on it. The R50 uses the RF mount but really only could make best use of the RF-S lenses, which there are not many of right now. While I feel bad investing in EF-M practically being dead from Canon's development standpoint, there is some light in the fact that there are a ton of third party lenses and EF lenses to be used so it doesn't seem the worst as a beginner, even though many people do say so. On the other hand, buying a APS-C RF lens wouldn't translate well if I did one day decide to buy a full frame R model. At the end of the day, it would mean if I upgrade, I have to upgrade both camera body + lenses as the RF-S lenses would be poor on the FF. Would you be able to shed some light to help me decide? I would like to shoot landscape primarily, but also wildlife and astro. Astro as I understand is similar to landscape photography in some ways. Thanks!
I think it you are just starting out than either of the APS-C cameras would be great to learn more on. You can always sell them later on when you upgrade to a Full Frame... However, if you are very serious and you have the financial ability to pull the trigger on a full-frame... then it might be nice to have your forever camera and then start building a Lens collection with it. Personally, I went the APS-C route because I wasn't sure how serious I wanted to go with photography and I couldn't afford to invest money in it at the time. Now, 3 years later, I have just got my R5C. It kinda sucks to have to buy all new RF lenses... but I don't regret learning on my Canon M50, as I feel fully equipped experience-wise to use my new camera.
Hey there! I don’t really have experience with that specific lens, but you’d have to use a mount adapter on it, and a speed booster would not work. The aperture seems comparable to the 18-150, and from what I see online it seems like the focus is pretty quiet for video. I would say purchase it from somewhere that allows returns that way you can test it out for yourself and see if it is good for what you need it for & if not then return it 🤷🏽♀️
I read that the EF-S 55-250 mm has better optics than the EF-M 55-200 mm for roughly the same price point if you include the EF to EF-M adapter. Downside is it is more bulky. But I think EF glass is more future proof than EF-M glass, seeing that you can convert EF to many other mounts including micro four thirds and RF, and the Blackmagic pocket 6k cameras mounts are also EF. When it comes to portability in an exchangeable lens camera though, EF-M is still king imo.
Excellent comparison, very well done. I have subscribed. If you used a Canon 6 Vii with a 32 mm censor you would have seen a much larger difference between the sharpness of the 55mm -200mm. On better cameras, the difference is not close and I have used both cameras. I gave away my M50 with the kit lens and an adopted 50mm lens. Get yourself the M32mm lens and you will see. it
Thanks, at some point you mentioned that if we need something with sharper quality, we should go for another lense wish ones would you suggest? I need it for lowlight video(indoors) and also long distance like the 55-200, thank you!
Hmmmm the ones I have in mind, that I’ve only have seen online reviews of, are a bit on the pricey side. Here they are: • Sigma 50-100 f/1.8 $999 • Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 $1,259 • Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 $1,499 • Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 $1,629 I have never tried using the 55-200 in a long distance indoor low light situation though. Maybe give it a shot before you take the leap and invest in a bigger beast of lens 🤔
Great and helpful video Angela! Any comments about Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM lens? Can this be used with M50 and are there any pros/cons against Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5−6.3 IS STM?
Thank you so much for this video! It really helped me to buy my second lens. Ill be going for the 55-200. One day i hope to own a better camera for wildlife thought haha! But first practising more with what i will own :)
Good Job! Still hard to tell what i'll get for myself. I got the 18-55mm Kit lens and looking for a telezoom i can vlog on. 55 mm f4.5 is really not that great for Video i guess haha a blurry background at 150 mm seems way better tho hmmmm🤔
Honestly neither … 200mm is okay but still isn’t enough to get really good shots and still keeping a distance. You need something that goes up to like 400mm to start getting really decent shots
Depends, are you trying to get photos of people without them really realizing or buildings? If you want buildings that 18mm will be nice if you need something wide but for people the 200 will give you an extra lil push. I think the 18-150 will be good if you want a mix of both tho
I'm just getting into event photography, and would you recommend the 18mm - 150mm? I think that will be the one since I wouldn't have to change the lens that often during events
Honestly I feel like Astro photography is an art that I’m not experienced enough to speak on. I’ve taken very simple photos of the moon with the 55-200 that I loves as the sun was setting, but as for stars I’ve never tried multiple exposures and what not to really get the stars captured
Hi! When I turn on my camera with My 55-200… the stabilizer that about 5 secondes to turn on. It’s always do that when the camera is off like for 10 min or more. Do you have the same issue? Thank.
@Savanna Ramos I was using the 55-200mm EF-M to photograph my sons football matches for a whole season and was sending them to the parents WhatsApp group. The pictures were sharp and stunning and got alot of praise from the parents. The EF-M is probably my most used lens as I also use it as my walk-around street lens on a sunny day
hey Angela i checked out your video, i know you are pretty busy for replying but if you can reply omg it will help me even more to make a decision about buying the lens. Well, my question is... i know "these two lenses" are pretty good on both doing a good job but my major reason to purchase a telephoto lens is mainly because i do want to capture images of the "MOON". I did saw 2 images about the moon in your 150mm lens but didnt see a capture of the 200mm i really want to get a bigger picture of the moon zoomed in with a crisp or with a focus, but well all i got is a CANON EOS M50 mirrorless, so all i got is a fish eye lens the adapter and well the kit that came with my cam, which is the "ef-m15-45 IS STM" but well thats just for beginners. With all your honesty, will you be able to help me to get the best out of these 2 lenses? like i mean, which one do you think i can get a bigger image of the moon with detail or a good focus from these 2 lenses? the 150mm is better? or the 200mm is better for a good moon picture? Thank you and like you said. With whatever we carry or have we gotta get most of it. So yes i do think the same, so please if you have time please reply me and guide me.. thank you! just subscribed and liked your vid because i was looking the whole day and investigating about the 150mm vs 200mm vids kept reading but watching vids and seeing the lenses in actions means alot to me thank you! please help! 😇
@@AngelaZuniga Wow gosh! you totally illuminated me! and of course my path as well! Thank you so much for having the time to reply me and to remove those doubts! I’m confused. In your vid you show the 55-200 have greater zoom. But wouldn’t the 18-150 have greater zoom than the 55-200? 18/150=8.3 zoom, whereas 55/200=3.6 zoom?
Nice shots , I’ve been doing this a long time , sharpness in most cases is over rated , once in print , framed and on a wall no one is pixel peeping , just looking at a nice image they like
Just got my Canon Eos M50 mark ii now im watching videos on what lense to buy since the ones available here are ef-m 50-200 mm and ef m 11-22... Can somebody help me decide? Greatly appreciated...
The ef 50mm with a viltrox speedbooster is a must have combo …. Between the two you listed I only have the 55-200mm… and I think it allows you to get some reallllly good shots from afar with a Canon M50
The exact amount of detail I need to make a decision about choosing a lens of the two. That helps a lot thanks! 🌟

Honestly neither … 200mm is okay but still isn’t enough to get really good shots and still keeping a distance. You need something that goes up to like 400mm to start getting really decent shots
Great review and dance.
Which one do you suggest for street photography?
Depends, are you trying to get photos of people without them really realizing or buildings? If you want buildings that 18mm will be nice if you need something wide but for people the 200 will give you an extra lil push. I think the 18-150 will be good if you want a mix of both tho
Thank you for detailed answer 🙏
I'm just getting into event photography, and would you recommend the 18mm - 150mm? I think that will be the one since I wouldn't have to change the lens that often during events
I think it would be really good for situations like that and allow you not to miss a shot by having to switch your lens 😊👌🏽
@@AngelaZuniga okay thanks for the input and reply! 👍🏻
Could someone tell me that if I have canon EPS 18-55 mm lens, what lens is recommended to buy to upgrade this lens? I have EOS 100D
Have you ever tried either of them for astrophotography? I'm trynna get a lens for star & moon shooting
Honestly I feel like Astro photography is an art that I’m not experienced enough to speak on. I’ve taken very simple photos of the moon with the 55-200 that I loves as the sun was setting, but as for stars I’ve never tried multiple exposures and what not to really get the stars captured
Would have be nice if instead of shooting video, you would have shot stills. It could have given us better idea about sharpness and depth.
I can buy a 55-200 for 199euros, so around 200dollars too. Nice pricing
Nice 👍 from India
Hi! When I turn on my camera with My 55-200… the stabilizer that about 5 secondes to turn on. It’s always do that when the camera is off like for 10 min or more. Do you have the same issue? Thank.
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this
have been debating on a lens for my M50, mainly for kids sporting events, catching the action shots, what would you recommend?
I would recommend the 200mm so you can zoom in more when you’re across the field/court
@Savanna Ramos I was using the 55-200mm EF-M to photograph my sons football matches for a whole season and was sending them to the parents WhatsApp group. The pictures were sharp and stunning and got alot of praise from the parents.
The EF-M is probably my most used lens as I also use it as my walk-around street lens on a sunny day
Nice one
Excelente información 👍👍👏👌👌
I enjoy your comments
Nice to hear!!
grazie bel video
Thank u! From Thailand
Your dancing style is amazing can we dance together ? 😅❤
hey Angela i checked out your video, i know you are pretty busy for replying but if you can reply omg it will help me even more to make a decision about buying the lens.
200mm all the way! For moon shots….Although you can get moon shots with the 150mm the extra 50mm definitely makes a difference!
Also a little hack I do, I put my camera in 4k video and use the crop in factor to my advantage and getting it more zoomed in while using the 200mm.
@@AngelaZuniga Wow gosh! you totally illuminated me! and of course my path as well!
Thank you so much for having the time to reply me and to remove those doubts!
I just came back from work and i had everything untouched from last night in my mac, so i am back here again write to you and to thank you about this!
Thank you so much for helping me! This remarks so much to me and it makes a great good decision to make! thank you so much angela for your help!
💖🤩🥰😇😊🙏✨
I’m confused. In your vid you show the 55-200 have greater zoom. But wouldn’t the 18-150 have greater zoom than the 55-200? 18/150=8.3 zoom, whereas 55/200=3.6 zoom?
Welll the 18-150 has a greater range, but the 55-200 gives you a more cropped or zoomed in shot at 200mm
Nice shots , I’ve been doing this a long time , sharpness in most cases is over rated , once in print , framed and on a wall no one is pixel peeping , just looking at a nice image they like
thank you so much
come for the specs -> stay for the moves
Lol this comment made me laugh
Came for the specs, left by the moves😂
Why don't you compare apples to apples.
Set both to the same focal length and compare quality.
Hmmmmm maybe I can make a quick sample comparison video like that 🤔
Love the cute little dances. Haha
Thankssss 😍
You’re welcome 😏
와우 정성스러운 영상 잘 봤어요. 많은 도움을 받았습니다. 감사합니다.
Do these lenses fit derelict on the m50, or do I need an adapter?
Directly on, they are a M mount
@@AngelaZuniga thank you, your videos are a lot of help (=
Just got my Canon Eos M50 mark ii now im watching videos on what lense to buy since the ones available here are ef-m 50-200 mm and ef m 11-22... Can somebody help me decide? Greatly appreciated...
The ef 50mm with a viltrox speedbooster is a must have combo …. Between the two you listed I only have the 55-200mm… and I think it allows you to get some reallllly good shots from afar with a Canon M50
