- This video was initially going to be all about Drum Island, but ended up being a full in-depth Chopper analysis thanks to my editor, Marimo's influence. You can give your praise to him for making this a lot more expansive than it was going to initially be. Some of the observations I make come directly from him too.

It didn't make it in the video but Chopper's remarkable growth and newfound confidence are also pivotal to his arc. It was solely due to his him being able to effortlessly command Marco, Miyagi, and Tristan as needed, when needed that he was able to cure the ice Oni's in time. This arc of graining self-confidence was beautifully woven throughout the pre timeskip but Whole Cake Island best illustrates his evolution as a leader. His ability to guide and strategize alongside Carrot while coming up with a plan to defeat Brulee in the mirror world, rescuing his scattered crew members, all of it also serves to reinforce how he no longer relies on just brute strength to be useful to the crew.
I admit to having undervalued Chopper a bit since the timeskip due to him not having major fights. This has helped give some new perspective on him i didn't realise.
For as much as I love One Piece, a consistent complaint other fans have is "X character hasn't done much post-time skip" and yet, without fail whenever I watch a video essay focusing on a particular Strawhat it really highlights their growth. Long term pay offs are harder to see just reading the newest chapter week to week I guess. Great work.
The fact that the enemies of the straw hats only see chopper as a pet, instead of the crew's doctor, also gives him a bit of an element of surprise in a fight.
You have no idea how happy this video made me. Chopper is my favorite character in the show. I was lost for few years in college. in-between majors with no direction in life. Began one piece because I felt I had nothing better to do. Fell in love with the series and especially Chopper. Chopper inspired me to begin taking classes in medicine. If not for that adorable reindeer I would not have considered myself to be capable to follow this career path.
You were spitting so much facts that I almost cried from happiness. Most people I see on UA-cam that talks about chopper always seems to talk about how he went from a powerful reindeer yearning to control his strength to becoming a cute comedic character. That was far from the truth. Give my boy Tony Tony Chopper some more respect!
It’s interesting to see Chopper’s doctoral philosophies alongside law. I find it incredibly interesting that Chopper was able to create a drug to give Bepo a power boost and Law wasn’t or never thought to do so.

I've always had this admiration for Chopper's journey although there's one thing i've been waiting for ever since the portrayal of Linlin's backstory which is whether he could cure her rampage cravings and whether that would finally allow her to make peace to what happened to her "mother" and fellow orphans, after all if there's one person who can identify the root of that unusual condition it would be the same doctor who rescued the innocent kids with a similar condition, such is the irnoy that the very same thing that brought Linlin's life throught such a dark path (her uncheked prowess flavored by the gigantism and the drug-like state) would be soon the demise of another bunch of made-up orphans not that disimilar from the kids she grew up with

For some inexplicable reason, this scene made an impact on me. Chopper apologizing for something he had no way to stop nor be at fault to why the kids had been so experimented on, just made me want Luffy punch Ceasar Clown's ass even harder. Chopper may not be a big character per say, but he is a very real one.
I also gotta mention that with Chopper's desire and will to protect and save lives. Where that manifested in a loss of self that became a burden to all (in Enies Lobby), because he felt he needed to step up when he didn't have to, Wano showcased that growth and strength of will by having him hold out vs 2 Yonko Commanders by himself.
So while he doesn't need a straight up fight, he does that he sure as hell can tangle when needed, even if it's to no avail. He can at least "i know i can't, but he can" moment in the fight (what happened when he fought Queen and Perospero)

Hi, can you please do a video on fisher tiger? he is such a remarkable character that's been shadowed by many new characters with tragic pasts. Don't want the fandom to forget how Oda wrote this character in preparation of the final arc as we are coming to full circle with the celestial dragons. Also would love your insight as well.

People think that the strawhats should all be punchy punchy . How many doctors in stories you know also double as fighters ? Same goes for the rest of the “weak trio” every straw hat has their role. And if you notice outside or fighting they are either almost or the best in the world at their given roles .

Ok yes but can we talk about how three of the worlds greatest doctors were on wano (chopper, law, and Marco), and they never even considered doing anything about the smile epidemic. I love chopper but that seems like a missed opportunity.

@@flint9668 true, but smile fruits aren’t devil fruits just a failed attempt to replicate them. They were created by a scientist/ doctor who chopper has worked with, and chopper has already produced drugs that directly affect his own actual devil fruit abilities.

No it wouldn’t make sense for that to happen, the Smile fruits aren’t diseases, and no one understands how devil fruits work outside of vegapunk really ,it would narratively not make any sense for chopper to “cure” something like that lol
