Michael Moore Puts Obama’s Legacy In Sad, Simple Terms

  • "Political documentarian Michael Moore has repeatedly expressed his frustrations with President Obama, but this week he really stuck the knife in, saying in an interview that Obama will be remembered as the first black president and “that’s it.”
Moore spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto Film Festival (which Moore attended to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Roger & Me) and said that despite what Obama may have claimed in 2012, he “did not save Detroit.” Moore admitted that while Obama’s done many good things, “he’s been a huge disappointment.”"* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

You can't put all of the blame on Obama for his lack of accomplishments. This has been one of the worst Congresses we have ever had. Instead of trying to run the country and make it better, this Congress made it it's crusade to fight Obama on damn near everything to the point of absurdity. They voted to repeal Obamacare nearly 50 times! That's a lot of time wasted.

Cough* cough* apologists* cough* cough*. Obama doubled down on Bush policies in his first term. Then has coasted in his second. The things that were in his control that he didn't need congress for that he promised. He didn't do either.

I lost count on Filibuster! Any one knows the total of filibuster? Is Republican Party racist or don't like Democrats in general? Isn't Obama Care came from Mitt Romney plan and isn't Immigration Reform written by Republican Senator? Or something else.

FINALLY, someone who actually KNOWS what was going on. It doesn't help that, in a sense, he was a coward to tell congress to shut to fuck up and listen to what he has to say. We definitely need to get lobbyists and money OUT OF POLITICS.

Raul Leal I agree partly with them, you have to admit they(congress) really have done a smashing job at doing absolutely nothing but blocking the president. The part I agree with you on(The part that makes this his fault aswell) is that he sits there and just fucking takes it up the ass. All these blocks in the house, all the slander, Fucking calling your wife a man. You would think he'd get on the horn or national tv release a conference and just tell America how these clowns operate. It's because aslong as this goes on it still doesn't affect him he still gets paid.

***** And Obamacare is questionable, however, I can't say I am against it, but I am suspicious that it is not truly for the benefit of the people. I've suspected from the beginning that it is really some way to benefit the medical industry (hello, MORE customers for them and probably other things I can't even fathom) It might mean something to someone who understands how lobbying works, that over the past 3 decades or so, the med industry has been the largest lobbying presence in DC... I really have no examples of anything to cite about what the medical industry and pharma companies are lobbying for, except, it stirs up suspicion in my mind, but I have a feeling I'm not the only one. I have heard they have backed off their lobbying efforts, so they must have gotten a lot of what they want... and they are powerful. Next to the police, the pharma cos get away with more murder than any other groups in the US. But, hey, they save so many OTHER people... it's no big deal if they kill thousands of people & destroy collateral lives in the process.

***** Hmm... I liked it better when I had the choice... I live in Southern Cali and get my medical and medicines from TJ... Awesome service I might add and cheaper meds. Now I have to pay for insurance I DO NOT WANT... OR NEED... Only thing Obamacare changed is the Federal government's meddling into
our affairs. They have us under surveillance in every aspect. Now they
know everything about us physically and mentally... But, as you say, we HAVE TO take what we get...
      freedom anybody???

Kinda hard to do shit when congress won't let you. But I'll agree, Obama hasn't been the absolute best on foreign policy or the banks. But he'll be remembered as an FDR jr, meaning the guy who helped get us out of the great recession, just not with as drastic measures or to the same extent, if that makes sense. The ACA thing might be remembered as well.

I agree totally. NOTHING to put the perpetrators of the current recession in jail. NOTHING to raise the minimum wage. Not much to fix crumbling roads and bridges while creating millions of high paying jobs. The gap between the rich and poor widened. Very little on climate change. A very weak health care plan that was a big gift to insurance companies. And we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, and it looks like Syria is next.Same old Washington game, only worse? I would say so.Hillary would only be more of this. If we want real change we will need to elect Bernie.

I'm not an Obama apologist by any means, but Moore and Cenk have taken a very narrow view of Obama's accomplishments by ignoring an important variable. Obama faced relentless obstruction from a Republican congress. If he had a Democratic majority in Congress and accomplished so little, you'd have a more honest case against him.

As for Gitmo, there were 242 prisoners at the start of Obama's presidency; now there are 107. How is that an expansion? On pot prosecutions - of course there would be more prosecutions under Obama because there are a lot more legal pot shops nowadays. So that doesn't really tell you anything.

PS: The Affordable Care Act is not that great. Aside from little cherries, such as pre-existing conditions protection and some preventive care, the change still keeps public health at the mercy of for-profit companies who feed off the sick. Not much of a legacy.

I had to go to the big city but the Kidney Foundation provided an apartment free with TV, DVD. All I had to pay for was food. I stayed there for 3 months before I went home. I could never have survived if I lived there. Maybe you should think of moving to Canada. I have no idea how that would work but you should check into it. Good luck!!

This is the same "articulate" President who calls the British Embassy, the “English Embassy.” He called a Navy Corpsman (pronounced core-man) “corpse-man.” He joked, “I don’t know what the term is in Austrian” for “wheeling and dealing.”; there is no-such-thing as an Austrian language. He also misspelled the word "respect" "rspect" while at a tribute to the person who wrote the song.
This "articulate" President has also made some pretty stupid statements such as:
      1. "Even though most people agree... I'm presenting a fair deal, the fact that they don't take it means that I should somehow do a Jedi mind-meld with these folks and convince them to do what’s right." --mixing up Star Wars and Star Trek references while discussing working with Republicans in Congress (March 1, 2013).
2."We're the country that built the Intercontinental Railroad."-Cincinnati, OH, Sept. 22, 2011.
      3. "The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries." --Tampa, Fla., Jan. 28, 2010.
      4. "The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system." --in remarks after a health care roundtable with physicians, nurses and health care providers, Washington, D.C., July 20, 2009.
      5. "There's a lot of -- I don't know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing" --confusing German for "Austrian," a language which does not exist, Strasbourg, France, April 6, 2009.
      6. "I'm here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis." --speaking via satellite to the Democratic National Convention, while in Kansas City, Missouri, Aug. 25, 2008.
      7. "On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
      8. Obama referred to the 50 states as the "57" states.
And this isn't even all of them. This is only a partial list of the stupid statements Obama has made. Now, it may be true that Bush wasn't the brightest President we ever had but I just can't see how the idiot we have in there now is any more articulate than the guy who was in there before.

The fake dossier on Trump with collusion with the Russians and the fix on Bernie Sanders to make sure crooked HRC ( Hillary) would be the dems candidate. Manik Sethisuwan
      The date is now 29.7.2015
      - Gave himself the power to assasinate U.S. citizens
      - Gave Monsanto absolute legal immunity
      - Promoted TPP which may keep us afloat for a moment, as did NAFTA, same deal, different countries, loss of American jobs for a short surge of cheaper goods... nice if you are a Walmart junkie, but bad for future Walmart junkie who loses their job to an Vietnamese being paid pennies on the dollar, till they sign another assed up trade deal...
      - duped the U.S. citizenry into the continued torture of people around the world. Not closing Guantanamo, other unknown Black Sites for torture around the world...
      - gave way to drilling in the Arctic...

56 million Americans murdered by taxpayer funded abortion on demand?
When Kennedy was alive people knew murder and abortion are the same thing and homosexual marriage was a criminal offense.
Kennedy was the last American president that would not kiss the ass of the federal reserve and tried to give America back to the people.
The conman and theif in the white house now is doing everything he is ordered to do by the criminal cartel that

The overall record seems pretty sparse, I guess, but political gains traditionally have been small incremental steps at a time in Western democracies. US healthcare expansion to millions more Americans is a big accomplishment for those who benefit from the legislation. Elsewhere, ending the embargo on Cuba will improve relations for the entire region. I also appreciated the President's veto on the Keystone XL project that will and for the long-term be beneficial for the safety and security of the US and the world at large.

Gridlock is a problem for sure. He could have enforced ad implemented a lot more during his presidency. However it isn't a problem you can pin on republicans. The issue with our government is purely the fact that we formed parties and divided, and through time we have turned politics into a pissing test. There was a study done at yale where two groups A & B were put in rooms together and A was a group of moderate democrats and B moder republicans. They were given time to speak about politics and after many sessions the groups came to hold extreme political beliefs. This has became the ruination of our government. George Washington foresaw this and warned the world that forming factions would create a separation of society,

As first black president he had the chance to drastically improve EVERYTHING about the black experience in America. There should be complaints about the favoritism showered abundantly on black communities. He had the wealth of the richest nation on earth at his disposal & didnt build the first trade school, community college, learning or day care center. He didn't establish or fund scholarships, vocation or mentoring programs, summer feeding & athletic camps, youth groups or financial aid for those looking to aquire job skills to enter the work force well equipt & prepared to compete for higher wages. As fbp, the black community should be in a state of awesome renewal & humming with the energy of ppl excited about life dreams finally within reach, but instead its pretty much same ol same ol. The saddest part is the ingrained mindset & low expectations that have so many blacks still thinking that Barry & Moe Bama were a cute couple who did a nice job. He had the power, finances & opportunity to recreate the black community into a jewel in the crown of America but as it turns out, that only happened for you if your last name was middle eastern.

They ran the clock out on the last 2 years of his first term with every procedural technique imaginable with hopes of him being a one term president, & now they obstruct the process in any way they can (when they bother to come in).

+Itchy Booger It is relevant when you know fully well it would elect GW. There is Bernie Sanders who in a general election would perhaps get 4 times the vote Nader ever got, but he knows it is not enough to win him presidency but sure to make a republican the president. So Sanders, despite being an independent, rules out an independent run.
If Moore did not realize he is going to help GW win in a close election, then he is an idiot. If he did realize, it would make him a moron. The right wing is vicious and relentless. Look what they had done to Clinton. It took Clinton all his political skills to survive. If the right wing did not go after Clinton, a mid-east peace pact could have been possible.
Obama has disappointed many, but you have to realize that the right wing has been working over time to block and discredit him from day 1. Just look at the republican party he has to deal with. McConnell and Boehner are regarded moderate. And you expect results?
Michael Moore has no perspective. He just a movie maker.

Obama had an overwhelming majority of support in both houses of congress for nearly the first two years of his administration. He didn't need the Republicans, and he still caved to centrist, right-wing policies. He is a disappointment, through and through.

he biggest scandals of the corrupt Obama administration are on the way. Their own watergate . spying on the opposition with abuse of the Fisa court. the politicization and corruption of the FBI and Justice department.
The treason of the sale of 20% of the Us Uranium to Russia. The Clinton pay for play and the 124 million USD by Russia to the Clinton foundation and a half a million to Bull Clinton. The email scandal of the missing 33000 and classified mail. The fake dossier on Trump with collusion with the Russians and the fix on Bernie Sanders to make sure crooked HRC ( Hillary) would be the dems candidate. Wasserman Schultz who hired Pakistani to look after the DNC server. The disaster with the affordable care act. The total disregard of the constitution by Obama with the illegal creation of Daca. Do you read English Steve or are you totally living in total isolation or in some drug created world of illusion? Apart from the above it was a scandal free administration.

I don't think you are a Russian agent Ecky. But I will say, I highly doubt anything will change in regards to Russia unless its related to pipelines and funneling money. So... nothing new. The only thing that is changing here is the screenplay that is the government, how we perceive them from a public standpoint. All that shit in syria and the middle east is going to go on. Trump isn't going to save anyone, hes just here to make a buck.
