It's called social satire. Acknowledging a real situation, identifying the absurdities that exist, then amplifying and exploiting them ....sometimes useful to make something unpleasant more palatable. The Daily Show is an example of this....Presenting a critical eye while utilizing comic value to draw people in. Sometimes the critical component is lost on lazy minds. @@zisha01 You could not be more mistaken. The reason that these topics are even in the political debate, (except those issues that affect people directly, such as gun violence or abortion) is because people learn about their existence through a comic medium. Some level of informativeness is better than none at all. Very few Americans knew what the Bhopal Disaster was before the Yes Men did their shtick (and even then, the knowledge of their films is limited). This stuff provokes some level of thought and ingestion...but there will always be the dimwits who only parrot the comic elements (Cartman, who is always portrayed as the jackass) and not consider the reasonable outlook (Stan and Kyle who are well-rounded and emotionally developed). I tend to have a mixed/ somewhat pessimistic view of people in general, I know they too often have a lack of curiosity about the world, and choose to keep themselves on a pretty narrow bandwidth of information. This tendency has only worsened with a channel of "infotainment" specifically tailored to meet and reinforce your own personal belief system. This feedback loop creates a population of dimwits along THE ENTIRE political spectrum. And even much of the comedic shows and late night tv monologues (which are now ALL pretty intolerable) all have an overwhelming agenda that drowns any existing element of humor that might still be derived... Professional comedians such as Chapelle, Rock, Burr and the like have the power and ability to challenge assumptions, biases and narrowness through their style of empathy and hilarious but brutal truths. This is why they are so unwelcome on college campuses. I certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but I do feel that the best way to respond to the absurd, self righteous simplicities of the likes of Tucker Carlson is through humor.
Vietnam is not a good example of this. There was no need to contain Vietnam to begin with because vietnam never attacked the us. The us government now admits the war was started on false pretenses,
Wish people would bother to understand Afghanistan's history. Britain never lost a war in Afghanistan, over the course of a hundred years of frequent conflict, nor did Russia or America for that matter. What nobody ever succeeded with was occupation and that has to do with geography and geopolitical influence from outside.
So what is your definition of loosing a war? Because I would say it is "leaving the territory you previously occupied because it is too costly to keep it/take it back".
@@JM-mh1pp You'd have to do some background reading on the "Great Game" as it was referring to. Afghanistan never mattered to the Raj, it was/is a landlocked buffer state between empire's. Never really had a national identity, a hodge podge of ethnicities, tribes and religion's, at least then. Britain tried and failed to occupy and most people know the story of British forces retreat from Kabul in 1842. But what isn't explained is that the war didn't end there. Britain went back, exacted retribution and defeated the regime that treacherously broke the agreement and installed a corruptible administration. That became the norm from that point over a hundred years, two more wars and many individual punitive expeditions. Policy was "butcher and bolt", that worked. Apparently nobody at the Pentagon reads much.

Except they really didn't. They simply retreated and waited for America to hemorrhage money to the point where it was politically impossible to continue. The Taliban were classic guerilla fighters, and had no means to match the US in any conventional sense, but the strictures of 4th generation warfare do not require military might, only patience. In every conventional engagement, the Taliban lost, basically- but this is only a demonstration of the utility of a Fabian policy. You can win every battle, and still lose a war, which is precisely what happened.
Did you realize that your best and closest friend in the entire middle eastern world (Saudi Arabia) makes the Taliban look like a modern Westernized nation from a women's rights point of view?? As well as many other claims of infamy you seem willing to direct at "the Taliban" yet wholly ignore in your very closest friends. Odd wouldn't you say?? Maybe in your perpetual attempts to help improve the lives of others you should recognize something just may be wrong with you. (just a thought) ;)
This is satire, from the 90’s. And I don’t think many of us in the UA-cam comment section are best and close friends with Saudi Arabia. But none of the oppression of women in Saudi Arabia is lost on most us. So who exactly are you talking to?
In all seriousness… I can imagine some Taliban leaders saw this clip and it hurt their ego so much it caused them to unite with Al Qaida to send a message to us westerners that they are a force to be taken seriously and not ridiculed….

According to The Intellectual Dark Web, I'm a huge fan of the Taliban. The question to them isn't whether or not liberals love the Taliban, but WHY we love the Taliban, and they've figured it out. Jordan Peterson and Peter Boghossian psychoanalyzed us. It's because we're weak and feminine and the Taliban is strong and masculine and we admire and yearn for this domination over our women.
Afghan women are 10x more polyamorous than their men and cant get that workplace is no nightclub. They don’t even let their marriage get in the way. That’s why they keep losing their rights. Nothing to do with domination. Western women aren’t that out of control. The situation of men in the west has very little to do with being weak and feminine. Otherwise, they would have stopped being sexual predators and seeing relationships/marriages as retirement homes. Btw, I am no feminist.

There real issue is why all of these nations wanted to control Afghanistan? Could it be the trillions of dollars of un-mined minerals or maybe the drugs ? All these nations fail to occupy Afghanistan and kill off the Taliban. And yet the Taliban gets stronger. Now they have a somewhat modern military. Not bad for a bunch of mountain tent dwellers. Lesson: be careful when you enter another man’s home uninvited.
Their “modern military” is a direct result of treasonous leftwing elitists that mindless drones like you continue to vote for in the name of feelgoodism.
Well... The British wanted to control Afghanistan to keep the Russians out (the Great Game). The British fought the Afghans three times, only lost the first time. The British managed to install friendly client king to rule Afghanistan. The Soviet Union wanted to control Afghanistan to keep the religious fundamentalists out of Soviet Central Asia (a bunch of "stans" a lot like Afghanistan). The Soviets withdrew, but they came in to protect the Afghan Communist government (for some reason, religious fundamentalists have a problem with atheistic Marxism) and the Afghan Communist government lasted after the Soviets withdrew until the collapse of the Soviet Union (no more foreign funding). When the Afghan Communist government fell, the Mujahideen turned on each other and destroyed the country in a brutal civil war in the 1990s. That's when the Taliban came into power, a bunch of religious students (Talibs) who defeated the Mujahideen (mostly) to bring order to the country. The Americans wanted to control Afghanistan to keep it from being used as a base for terrorist activity. We failed miserably. Unlike the British, we don't understand feudalism (in any case, the last king was overthrown in 1973). Unlike the Soviets, we tried to create our own government based on our own ideas, instead of propping up an existing government (the Afghan Communist government was created by Afghans, in a revolution which overthrew the king). The Chinese are next. They don't care about the awfulness of the Taliban. The Chinese aren't interested in making the world a better place, they just want to make money off of the mineral wealth of Afghanistan, and have no problem giving the Taliban what they want (legitimacy, money and infrastructure) to get their cooperation. Lesson: before you enter another man's home uninvited, do your homework first.

Biden finished what Trump started, who negotiated with the Taliban in the first place (without the Afghan government) in Feb 2020, and then began withdrawing troops starting November 2020 until there were only 2,500 troops left in January 2021.
Michael Moore….sometimes it’s better to contain the enemy at their country of origin and stay out of it. Vietnam is another good example of this.
Vietnam is not a good example of this. There was no need to contain Vietnam to begin with because vietnam never attacked the us. The us government now admits the war was started on false pretenses,
Vietnam was never run by terror exporting incel rapist thugs.

Great point

@Bernard Ray The Army Corps of Engineers built roads and bridges and schools and infrastructure for 20 years. Things that we need here now. Why would the backward country people stop them?
Except they really didn't. They simply retreated and waited for America to hemorrhage money to the point where it was politically impossible to continue. The Taliban were classic guerilla fighters, and had no means to match the US in any conventional sense, but the strictures of 4th generation warfare do not require military might, only patience. In every conventional engagement, the Taliban lost, basically- but this is only a demonstration of the utility of a Fabian policy.
They should take effeminate with them too..
If you admire them that much why don’t you go over there and meet them but show them your feminine self😉

My understanding of fundamentalists of any persuasion is that they see their system/religion is compromising with the modern world and want to take it back to what they think is the original state of the religion Trying to transplant a state of mind that is 1 or 2 thousand years old to the present time is doomed to failure.

@@dukebanerjee4710 , our mission in Afghanistan should have never included a long term occupation, but career politicians get rich off of long wars, democrats in particular, because you morons never vote anyone out. Our exit was needed, but once again, democrats either bungled the process or intentionally left 83 billion dollars worth of goodies for them. I suspect the latter as obama is still very much in control of this presently installed regime and has openly voiced his support of Islamists.
@@samcoleman5705 The original intention was to kill Osama bin Laden and destroy Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, which we accomplished 10 years ago. But, then we decided to create a government that could prevent Afghanistan from being used by terrorists. I'm sure the arms industry had something to do with that, because a government dependent on our weapons is a cash cow.
Blaming the Democrats is silly. This is a catastrophe made by four Presidents, Republicans and Democrats. Biden finished what Trump started, who negotiated with the Taliban in the first place (without the Afghan government) in Feb 2020, and then began withdrawing troops starting November 2020 until there were only 2,500 troops left in January 2021. Biden didn't do an awesome job, but he was given a terrible hand to play, so it's a bit hard for me to judge him. Every war we've ever lost and had to withdraw has been a catastrophe.
The Taliban have control over gear we left for the Afghan government, and to that I say the joke's on them. Our equipment is designed for a modern army with a modern supply chain. There's a reason why the Taliban rolls around in Toyota trucks. If they want to waste time and resources trying to keep our stuff working, more power to them.
