Dan- it should have been explained better what Filipino food (cuisine) is. It is an array of dishes made with influences from Spain & China. They use a lot of vegetables grown in Asia, but can be found in the US mainland nowadays. Some ingredients used are garlic, ginger, chicken, pork & fish. No parts of the chicken & pork are not wasted…they even use internal organs… Popular Filipino dishes are pancit (noodles), chicken and pork adobo (braised in shoyu, vinegar, whole peppercorn, garlic & bay leaves), Chicken papaya soup (chicken soup made with green papaya), lumpia (vegetable, ground pork & shrimp and vegetable mixture, rolled in patty wrapper…like Chinese egg roll)..banana lumpia (banana rolled in sugar and wrapped in a pastry wrap and deep fried to a crisp. Filipino cuisine desserts use coconut, mochi (glutenous sweet rice flour) & coconut milk. Lechon (roasted pig over hot coals on a spinning contraption) is a very popular dish, especially in parts in the Philippines like Cebu region. I love Pinakbet or Sari Sari, which is a clear broth with pork chunks & assortment of vegetables (eggplant, bittermelon, long beans, wing beans, okra, tomato). But no matter what main dish you have of Filipino food, white rice is a must! 🍚 I’m glad you tried it, Dan. You need to experience other Filipino restaurants to get a better understanding of what Filipino Cuisine is. Oh!, by the way…Filipino food bear eaten with your hands!🙌 😂
Scott seems like a super nice guy and he's having too much fun watching "Danny the medic" struggle with some of these foods. Well worth his $20 bucks! Ha!
I first found you from Tim's channel! Seeing you so often in my recommended I didn't realize I missed hitting subscribe! I've fixed that now and can't wait to be early and notified for all your future posts! 🙏💕
Good on you Danny for trying a cuisine so different from your regular preferences. You are much braver than I am, as knowing what some of the dishes are would have made this too difficult for me to even try. Jane and Scott seem like very nice and friendly people that made it a fun treat to enjoy a meal with them. As always, I love your videos. Thank you.
Aloha Danny. I am so happy you had some Hawaii locals guest star today! Jane and Scott were so lovely. My favorite Filipino dish is Tocino , a yummy barbecued sweet pork dish. Mahalo for an interesting video.
I married into a Filipino family and there are things that I eat and cook (like pinabet, sinagon soup, chicken and pork adobo)and there are still things that I won’t touch. I’ve been to the Philippines 3 times and will return around X-mas again. I love the various vegetables that they cook, and the beef or chicken stew are my favorite. I’m so glad that you are now traveling off the strip and exploring more local cuisine. Keep learning and exploring.
Filipino food is such a unique experience! It’s got a mix of sweet, savory, and even sour flavors that really surprise you. Hope you enjoyed your first taste!
I am Filipina,Nanay means Mama so Nanay Gloria . Filipino food is simple. We are not compelled to complicate our food with strong flavours, spices and flourishes.Filipino cuisine is a unique blend of indigenous, Spanish, Chinese, and American influences.
Some of the faces you made Danny were priceless. I'm like you. I like plain food no matter what cuisine. Hive me the meats, no guts no feet no necks no intestines etc. But thanks for the video. Glad you had Jane to explain stuff.
You’re brave DTM! Blood and guts would not pass my lips! lol This one had me 😂! You missed the chicken skins, those are so yummy! My son’s wife is Filipina but she doesn’t cook lol. I’ve never had Filipino food except lumpia. Thanks for the review. Sue
I worked with Filipinos and I passed on the "blood" too, but the steamed fish in foil is very good and the lumpia was excellent. So funny,. Your career is stopping blood flow and now trying tasting it. You have guts 😂 i watched this x2 and just laughed so hard.
I wish Jane would have explain the food better instead of just pronouncing their name . It must been shocking for microphone to be put in front of her face suddenly 😂 . Danny thanks for showing us different kind of foods . It’s educational for me . 👍
NO LECHON? or even lechon kawali? No lumpiang shanghai also. We went to Kusina ni Lorraine more often because we think their dishes are better but others may think otherwise. Thanks Danny for trying another SE Asian food. Tim Lee is used to Filipino dishes and can explain or give his opinion in a different manner.
Your facial expressions were so funny. 🤣🤣🤣 That's what makes your videos great. I probably won't eat Filipino food because I prefer plain food with no sauce.
Most of the Filipino food I've had was originally Japanese, Chinese or Korean! Ha! Too far from Filipino centers for them to make a living on purely Filipino food!😊
Hey Danny, glad you got a chance to give it a try! Love seeing you try the blood… Oh gosh, next time you gotta try the pipaitan… it’s quite an acquired taste🙂. Shall we try a real Filipino buffet… meaning like going to Manila?
It was nice to see you drop a link to In and Out Vegas Ching is very attractive and is knowledgeable about Vegas and Filipino food I think it would be worth a collab
Hello Jane and Scottand Danny! Actual food adventure you did a good job at least trying Filipino food. Your faces were priceless but kudos for trying! You were very blunt about your food preferences and what you're not fond of. The blood could really see your inner struggle with the food. 😅😅 thank goodness for tap water. Thank you Jane and Scott treating you. Looking forward to seeing your next food adventures.
This was also the restaurant I went to for my first Filipino food experience last year. I went with a friend who was also trying Filipino cuisine for the first time so neither one of us knew what was what since there were no labels. But we really enjoyed it. I plan on trying Jollibee one day, seems popular.
If you can ever make it to Los Angeles you need to go to a place called Dollar Hits that sell $1 skewers that the customer grills themselves. They’re interesting and delicious.
Danny your facial expressions are so funny, I'm not a salad or vegetable person either, I don't step outside the boundaries of tasting food, I like to stick to what I know
The Philippines is relatively small compared to other countries but the food is VERY DIVERSE. A lot of regional styles and flavors. The most popular ones in the USA are: pancit bihon/lumpia shanghai/pork or chicken adobo/pork bbq on a stick/Jollibee fried chicken
Do you think you could explain your food scale in the description? are you saying the food is both 1 and 5 Objectively and both 5 and 10 Subjectively?? It was the same ratings as in the other video I watched recently so I can't figure out if I'm misunderstanding the system or the two places just happened to receive the same ratings 😅
the scale: I give a food a single number. you match that number up to the scale and you see it what it means. 10 - The best I had in a very long time. 9 - Excellent. 8 - Good. 7 - Satisfactory. 6 - Mediocre. 5 - Not for me, but nothing technically wrong about it. 4 - Something is slightly wrong. 3 - Something is moderately wrong. 2 - Something is very wrong. 1 - Someone should call the health department.
I am a " Panda Express Kinda Guy" also. Good idea to bring Steve and Ting with you; I think they may react like you did. Nothing except the rice on your plate looked good to eat? Maybe the Curry Chicken is o.k. and good.
Often I would take a friend to eat real Chinese food. I wouldn’t tell them what were the ingredients in some of the dishes. I just tell them, ‘Enjoy the food’. After they ENJOYED finishing the meal, I wouldn’t tell them what they ate. I tell them, next time I will tell you what you’re eating 👍
Proud of you DTM... Blood cake is like jello... delicious... There's hope for you as a vampire yet... lol... You're ready for a step up to Balut next... lol... Seriously, my favs and most familiar to most are sisig, and lechon and adobo... Adobo, you just tried... Once you try lechon (crispy pig and pig skin)... you won't go back... Sisig is like filipine hash... Love it... The other Philippine classic is Jollibee (fast food restaurant)... It's more your speed... the restaurant is available all over LV...
I saw a Balut in Vietnam... opened and eaten by my good friend Christine. I saw what was inside and I will say it like this... If the fate of all mankind depended on me eating it, and if I did not, the universe would implode, well.. it had been a good run for the universe....
In many cultures, the "best" sampling of the cuisine is at a good restaurant. But in my experience with Filipino friends and family, all the best of the culture's food is cooked with love at home. The restaurant experience is good, but no match for Lola's home cooking! Try Kare Kare, you'll be hooked.
I believe the fish is smelt...it is a Greek favorite. It's one of my favorites. I saw another video some months back about a Philippino buffet in Vegas but I don't think it was this one, and they had chicken skin, which is another favorite. I once lived in the same building with a Phillipno chef. Another good dish is lumpia.
Looks like is was slightly harder for you eat the Filipino food than the “Little Girl Cookies” Danny. 😝😝😝😝 You realize that the cooks can also pick their nose when the different dishes??? Some of the Filipino food doesn’t look very appealing, BUT the taste is outstanding, not every time though! Great video Danny!!!
My take on your experience is that your were at the right place on the wrong day. I have eaten at the Nany Gloria Buffet over a dozen times. Things that were missing that day that you would enjoy is Bistek that is beef and onions cooked in soy sauce and calamansi juice. Kare Kare that is beef cooked in a peanut sauce. Sisig Manila Style that is BBQ pork belly chopped after cooking then refried with peppers and onions. Chop suey Filipino style. I hope you like cauliflower with the Chop Suey. I dont think the menu that day was a good representation of Filipino Food that's also widely eaten and enjoyed.
Some of their foods are quite unique but actually really😅 good. It's not really any different than going into a home in CA or TX or MS to ME all different but good.
Filipino food, is any kind of food in the Filipino culture, and it doesn't matter. The only purpose is to get together drink and laugh till your pants fall off.
Hey Danny, you should do a collab with Ching. She has a YT channel and she mostly hits Filipino restaurants and buffet. She is Filipino and she would be the perfect person to really familiarize you with Filipino food. Her Channel is "In and Out of Vegas."

I believe the lechon appears in tim lee's video of the place...
Adobo Filipino dish of pork or chicken stewed in a marinade of vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, herbs, and spices; the national dish of the Philippines

I been to a couple of them!

Danny you the man
" Tim Lee likes it. " lol

Your face when she said pork blood! 😅 priceless!
“Organy aftertaste” - that was pretty funny, DTM🤣🤣🤣
The Adobo and noodles looked good. Too bad there was no real lumpia because it is delicious.

I love this
The pork blood you eat with rice. It’s not bad it’s hard to compare what it tastes like it’s thick and smooth taste .
Filipino style egg rolls. Yum .
DTM was a trooper. Some Filipino food is an acquired taste. Growing up with it , I had to acquire it or I didn't eat.
Love watching it! That’s my friend Jayne and Scott! My neighbor @HawaiiNei❤😂 sending Aloha to y’all!🤙💝💚🌈🌊🌎👏✨
