    As my father explained to me, the Boodle Fight originated in the Philippine Military Academy (this was in the 1960s or earlier) where upperclassmen would usually sneak out and get extra rice from the kitchen. They would supplement this with leftover viands and canned goods that they have stashed around. This was illegal -- hence the word Boodle. In slang - is illegally obtained. They would spread this on the floor on top of a newspaper. Since it was technically lights out in the barracks (or cadet rooms in this case), they would eat this in the dark. Hence grabbing onto anything and everything that was in front of them -- hence the term Fight. To clean it up, they would fold it up and kick it under their beds.

      You should tell them to speak English too so they learn! I’m Filipino also but I speak to them in English and utilizes the interpreter! They understand English when you talk about money! English is our main language now in the Philippines other countries are learning English too! So why not learn!

    • @migovasquez0303
      @migovasquez0303 10 місяців тому +3

      @@lychellechong3689 English is not the official language of USA. So you can’t compel Hispanics to speak English. Spanish is their language. Their ability to switch language is not easy especially if they been here for a long time. The new generations speak English a little better. Hence, they become bilingual. I learn to speak Spanish because it’s my identity as well. And i learn it harder. It’s not easy. Trust me.

    The secret behind the yumminess of Filipino dishes lies in the country's rich culinary history. Filipino cuisine is a fusion of different influences from its history, geography, and culture.
    Firstly, the Philippines is a tropical country, which means it has a rich variety of fruits, vegetables, and spices. This results in dishes that are vibrant in flavors. Secondly, the Philippines has been influenced by many different cultures, like Spanish, Chinese, and American, which have all left their mark on the food.
    For instance, Adobo, one of the most famous Filipino dishes, is a great example of this fusion. It's a savory stew made with vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and spices, with Spanish influences.
    Also, Filipino food is often prepared with a lot of love and care, which I believe also adds to the taste. 😊

    The word “Boodle” originated at the United States Military Academy (West Point), the military terminology for “Food”. The word was adapted by cadets from the Philippine Military Academy and is now used by all Filipino soldiers. The Aviation Cadets of the Philippine Air Force Flying School and Philippine Merchant Marines Academy use the military term for food “Chow” and they borrowed the term from the US Marine Corps.
    The “Boodle fight” tradition started during the cadet days of every soldier where they needed to take life (sneak) and eat together secretly with their classmates using newspapers, not banana leaves. Then later on, courtesy of social media, this military tradition was adapted by many Filipinos. This tradition was first confined to soldiers and their love ones (wife, sons, daughters and even relatives) during close family celebrations.
    FYI, bodle fighting is not really a Filipino tradition. The Filipino tradition is called “kamayan”, using their hands eating on their plate. Boodle fight was only exposed to many common civilian Filipino in the late 90s and early 2000 because of social media, so it was not really a Filipino tradition that was practiced way back in the 1800 like the “kamayan”.
    Again, “Boodle fight” is a military tradition that was only adapted by civilians in the late 90s.
