I'm 67 years old. If I was at this show I would be up out of my seat and going crazy. Maybe I like this band for technical reasons but the power and the tightness totally overwhelm me. I like to listen to music with headphones and this band is incredible.
@oliverpura9876 Considering that you'd been alive for 7 Decades and have seen and heard all kinds of music that has come and gone from Elvis to Lady-Gaga and everything in between... Your observation about Dimmu Borgir definitely says a lot. Imo... while black metal is certainly not everyone's cup of tea... I don't think it gets a fraction of the credit it really deserves... and this especially so for Norwegian Symphonic Black Metal bands like Dimmu Borgir, Emperor and a few others. 🤘🤘
I love the "tone" of this performance. The tuned their guitars perfectly for this performance. The recent Wacken versions have sucked because the guitars are tuned too low, and Daray doesn't play the drums at the correct tempo (he plays slower than Nick Barker and Tony Laureano, who played for this performance) until the last stanza.
This is the best version of this song I've ever heard... it blows away the studio version to me because it's faster and way heavier, one of there best songs and definitely a classic
Daylight has finally reached it's end As evenfall strikes into the sky Far away in the dark glimpsing moonlight Sickening souls cry out in pain Whispering voices summoning screams Waiting for Satan to bless their sins Blackhearted angels fallen from grace Posessed by the search for utter darkness Hear the cries from the Mourning Palace Feel the gloom of restless spirits Hear the screams from the Mouring Palace Feel the doom of haunting chants Eternal is their lives in misery Eternal is their lives in grief Abandoned in a void of nothingness A chain of anger, a fetter of despair In this garden of depraved beings This unsacred place of helpless ones Satan blessed the creatures Inswathed them in endless night Whispering voices, summoning screams Waiting for Satan to bless their sins Blackhearted angels fallen from grace Posessed by the search for utter darkness
What a gorgeus BAND!!! Truly orgasmic and extremely talented! Hope Vortex and Mustis rejoin Dimmu for an atmospheric music result of such a superior quality especially in live performances! Whatsoever might be their inspiration it's really impressive!
I seen this Ozzfest in 2004 with Dimmu Borgir in Seattle and they FUCKING ROCKED!! That Ozzfest was the best lineup of bands ever!! Hatebreed killed the second stage even though Slipknot was the headliner on that stage. That was my sons first metal show he was 16 and he seen more boobs than he'd ever seen at that point, lol LONG LIVE HEAVY MEAL!!!
So epic! It took me about five years to rediscover this exact song and performance. Same as before; this is the song I want blasting when heaven starts gushing blood and the earth cracks in two.
To be fair, a whole lot of us had never seen or heard of Dimmu Borgir back in 2004. I think as people started to tune out of shitty, Billboard free radio around this time, and with metalcore and melodic death metal's growth, the "trickle down effect of non-radio metal genres" helped bands like Dimmu gain exposure in the US. I heard about Dimmu from Terrorizer magazine back in 2005. Got on early ass UA-cam and was blown away. Dimmu was a well known band 3 years later when they released In Sorte Diaboli and headline toured across the US, Canada and Mexico.
I can't believe the audience is so god damn LAME!! this is one of the best live-performances I have ever heard from a metalband.. PLEASE DIMMU COME TO FINLAND THIS SUMMER!!!
even tho the crowd is so amazingly lame, they still perform with such an epic power, awesome! u'd better done this show in Germany, then u could have seen a metalhead crowd! yeah
Great music. The people at this concert in San Antonio are just not use to black metal music. They're more into mainstream heavy metal. Just my opinion.
You got it. Symphonic Black Metal is Norway's biggest export and isn't exactly "common" in South Texas... so this crowd is likely seeing Dimmu Borgir for the very first time and is like "Holy Sh**!!"... which is exactly what my reaction was the first time I saw them.... been a fan every since!!. \../ \../
The tremolo riff at @3:50 just otherworldly, entrancing, brilliant, dark yet beautiful in its own right. Said it before I'll say it again Galder is a guitar wizard! SKAL!
Clean sound on stage!!... its rare to find BVlack Metal bands who are able to deliver such performance on stage. It feels like listening to the ALBUM version. I'm not that into Black Metal.... But I Love Dimmu!!! and Immortal of course.
I did see the 2004 Ozzfest at Atlanta. This is not what most of the audience is looking for. I enjoyed every second of it though, and I got an autographed CD. However, they did a one off at the Masquerade in Atlanta as they toured. The small club was packed and the energy was huge.
Didn't like them when I first saw them on dynamo open air. Over the years I've learned to appreciate their stuff. I've enjoyed this video. Thanx for posting
Are we just gonna' ignore that Galder showed us what the mourning palace would actually sound like at 5:13 with his guitar? I've never heard anything like that in a live concert.
Having seen Dimmu Borgir live twice (when Mustis and Vortex were still in the band), it was an experience i will never forget. I`m from Holland and we know how to have a good time to this kind of music, as opposed to the crowd on this video. Plus Dimmu Borgir can really get the crowd going wild. And to be honest, who wouldn`t go wild at a concert of Dimmu Borgir? This music is great!!! I listen to all kinds of music, but Dimmu Borgir is certainly amongst the music i consider legendary
People, you have to understand that in 04 symphonic black metal was something completely new to the american public, they had never heard anything like this before. That's what Dimmu said many times in their interviews: concerts in the US were hard for them because the crowd didn't really know how to react to this "new" kind of music (new for them anyway).
Ooh, nostalgia. I loved Dimmu Borgir in the 90's (haven't really listened to them or any other bands since then). Best Disco Metal Ever - and I mean that in a good way.
How in the hell did Vortex play the bass with has hand ripped open like that. He and the rest of the band are truly bad ass. Amazing song and prefromance.
Always a savage song 2 listen 2. The keyboard embellishes and compliments the sound perfectly particualarly at the chorus, and the drums and guitar blend seamlessly with each other. I love Shagrath's voice. Unlike other artists, there is no strain in the growl there - it's so natural! Borgir!!!!
I agree with you. But I must say as a musician myself, no one really wants to hear the same album over an over just with different song titles, I love every Dimmu album. They're simply expanding their musical talent beyond the so called "Black metal" label, in which they have every right to. These guys are fucking awesome as a band and as writers.
My first concert was Dimmu Borgir back in 07, truly an amazing experience Anybody else notice how Vortex is wearing what looks like an in sorte diaboli shirt 3 years before that record even came out ?
when bought the stormblast c.d. it came wit the live from 2004 ozzfest (this video) and about 4-5 other on the complemtary cd. and im so glad i bought it. to be very honest, i love dimmu borgir and they sound wayyyy better live... dont get me wrong, i love them regardless. just live, they put more how do i say it, "oomph" in it? well anyway, long time fan :D
I'm 67 years old. If I was at this show I would be up out of my seat and going crazy. Maybe I like this band for technical reasons but the power and the tightness totally overwhelm me. I like to listen to music with headphones and this band is incredible.

RIP Jeff. We watched this together.
So it shall be written, so it's shall be Done
This is one of Dimmu Borgir's best song ever written!
By far my favorite live version of this song. These guys are SO tight live.
Kick ass version.
Couldn't agree more. I doubt I'll ever stop listening to them. This song in particular is incredible.
This goes up on my list as one of the best black metal songs.
Easily, with some classic Immortal songs from the same Era.
Não tenha dúvidas. ... infelizmente o baixista morreu. Grande voz
14 anos atrás eu via esse clipe e hoje ainda vejo, banda que dispensa comentários em sua performance ao vivo,Dimmu fodaaaaa
This is the best version of this song I've ever heard... it blows away the studio version to me because it's faster and way heavier, one of there best songs and definitely a classic
This is actually one of the first videos i watched on youtube
Mine has Well
I can't believe this still here lol
Daylight has finally reached it's end
As evenfall strikes into the sky
Far away in the dark glimpsing moonlight
Sickening souls cry out in pain
Whispering voices summoning screams
Waiting for Satan to bless their sins
Blackhearted angels fallen from grace
Posessed by the search for utter darkness
Hear the cries from the Mourning Palace
Feel the gloom of restless spirits
Hear the screams from the Mouring Palace
Feel the doom of haunting chants
Eternal is their lives in misery
Eternal is their lives in grief
Abandoned in a void of nothingness
A chain of anger, a fetter of despair
In this garden of depraved beings
This unsacred place of helpless ones
Satan blessed the creatures
Inswathed them in endless night
Whispering voices, summoning screams
Waiting for Satan to bless their sins
Blackhearted angels fallen from grace
Posessed by the search for utter darkness
Best black metal song of all times
What a gorgeus BAND!!! Truly orgasmic and extremely talented! Hope Vortex and Mustis rejoin Dimmu for an atmospheric music result of such a superior quality especially in live performances! Whatsoever might be their inspiration it's really impressive!
Such a great live version. The vocals are awesome
right on spot fuck ya
Yeah, for sure. Super good
One of my all time favourite live performances of a black metal song, its simply spectacular \m/
Just graduated High School when I saw them in Alpine Valley, WI. Ozzfest was so much fun.
The whole albums lyrics are amazing. You can really visualize all of it.
If this was the only song on the set list I'd still go and see them
song makes the hairs stand up in the back of my neck anytime I hear this
one of my fave dimmu borgir tunes!!
only time i ever got to see them.
Ozzfest 2004 / Auburn , Washington
AMAZING DAY!
Was totally there. Sick as hell. Was that the year ozzy canceled and korn played forever or was that 03?

Time flies.

LONG LIVE HEAVY MEAL!!!
+Lloyd Garrison Are you aware none of the bands you named are heavy metal?
@@jottaz144 : All current genres are born from Heavy Metal.
saw them live last november. they played this one last. i've never seen a crowd go crazier in my life.
I love this harmonic at the end. It sounds so painful. It's like the guitar is alive...
So epic! It took me about five years to rediscover this exact song and performance. Same as before; this is the song I want blasting when heaven starts gushing blood and the earth cracks in two.
These Texan fans didn't know they were witnessing the greatness of Dimmu Borgir.
To be fair, a whole lot of us had never seen or heard of Dimmu Borgir back in 2004. they're like one of the best live bands i've ever heard. almost identic to the album tracks! gotta love this^^
If I had a time machine I would go to this show no doubt!
Saw this after about 10 years, UA-cam sure is a nostalgic place .
I can't believe the audience is so god damn LAME!! this is one of the best live-performances I have ever heard from a metalband.. PLEASE DIMMU COME TO FINLAND THIS SUMMER!!!
The are shocked by the symphonic power of prime dimmu borgir

This is when Dimmu Borgir was at its best :(
Well, no. It's without Nick Barker.

I'm really getting into this band after first hearing them some 10 years ago and never really paying much attention to them. Killer song.
We need Reno Kiilerich back on the drums :o
actually stand for something, or do not, ha ha , how is even possible, yee yes, truthiez.
Awesome performance, awesome, awesome band.
What more can be said apart from: Hail Dimmu Borgir! \m/
Why did we need a band like Ghost again? Dimmu's been the real fuckin' deal for years.
+Richard Limas Ghost is a completely different type of band, they're headlining shows, are you?
Is this about me? Shut the fuck up.
Is this stupid comment still getting action, lol. Annoying.
@@Rixhard69 Lol. Fuck Ghost. Sell out bitches.
What a cringe dummie comment. Completely different bands..
rofl this comment made my day. keep posting, i love your sense of humor
even tho the crowd is so amazingly lame, they still perform with such an epic power, awesome!

Ozzfest 2004 White River Amphitheater :) My first Dimmu Concert
The tremolo riff at @3:50 just otherworldly, entrancing, brilliant, dark yet beautiful in its own right. Said it before I'll say it again Galder is a guitar wizard! SKAL!
