I had that answering machine bit on my answering machine for years. I had a future ex girlfriend call me and say "I don't understand how your phones work". Yea, she didn't last long.

i just dont get this guy
i understand everybody thinks he's funny, and that he's one of the most respected guys in the business- but i just dont find a word he says funny- not in a cringy "this guy sucks" way its like i just dont get it or they all just go over my head. its mind boggling (TT^TT)

      +Jack Michealson
I'm not sure I have it right, but his jokes seem like cute traps for a certain kind of inquisitive minds. You follow what he says, and he leads you into absurdity. His sentences are perfectly grammatical, so you expect them to convey something reasonable, but they don't. If you try to reconcile them with your picture of the world, there's usually a part you can relate and one that completely doesn't fit.
There's also the deadpan delivery. When you combine everything, it's like getting a glimpse into the mind of a schizophrenic: very intelligent, logical to a fault, patient and focused... completely detached from reality. It's very different from the loud "wink wink nudge nudge" style humour and from jokes based on simple exaggerations (with premises like "all blondes are very stupid"). It feels alien.

I like his delivery with a straight face and monotone voice mixed with sarcasm, a little insanity and how he challenges the real world as we know it. For example: the question about: "who to notify in case of emergency" . Normally a person writes down a relatives name, but Steven says: "notify my doctor." Then he asks: "what's my mother going to do?" I find humor in that. If you notice, when he's rubbing his forehead, he's hiding his grin and trying not to laugh at his own jokes. That makes it even funnier.
