Well... It's another piece of bastardized shit from Natsume's team of crackheads working hard to ruin the name more and more with every single release. Gonna buy it on every console just to get an immediate refund.
It's sad to see that Natsume is making the same mistake so many companies make when they create an open-world game. They make the world huge, empty, and without depth. I don't care how big the map is if there's barely any time to explore it and barely anything to explore. I think they could have cut the map in half, given more textures to the environment, and focused on giving us interesting characters and farming mechanics. They've been doing this multi-town large world concept for a while now and in my opinion, it makes their games feel disjointed.
Rhetorically speaking, what is an “open world game”? It’s asking a company to sacrifice all of it’s time into 1 HUGE MAP game that could easily be 100 small map games. A BIG MAP is MORE GAME to FILL. It’s not “open-world” any more, it’s asking companies to fill more game than they can handle.
This is why for me, animal parade on Wii was my first and best experience of harvest moon games.. thanks for the review, really helped me make my mind up

Thats quicker then fae farm ...which fae farm days seem to fly by.I personally think 25-30 is the best. Imo...rf5 had the best time out of any game recently
It looks like every second of play a minute passes in the game's clock. So 24 minutes of play would be 24 hours. If your character sleeps, then a day might be 12 to 16 minutes. That would take longer than 16 minutes if the time pauses for menus, etc.

Seeing a bare open world sucks, but at the same time they kind of make sense to the story. However id like to see the world grow and change as you open up more towns. Even if more arent built, id like to see more people leaving their homes and wandering the land.

Is Story of Seasons still the superior franchise? Absolutely.
🌽 I haven’t played a Harvest Moon since Natsume took over because I absolutely did not like the change when I tried the first 3DS one. I might try this one, but when it’s on sale, methinks.
The visuals and the performance are as expected with how much extra stuff there is in this game. We also need to remember there's only so much you can put in without it bugging like hell and pokemon scarlet is a great example of this. They tried to add lots of detail as well as having a big open world game and it's caused major glitches and lags so Natsume probably saw the issues with Pokemon and chose not to go into major detail because they new it would effect the game play over all.
Facts: Skyrim is 12 years old. Took about half a decade to develop with a full team. Stardew Valley is 7 years old. Took about half a decade to develop by one man.
I think what I was trying to say is the development time for an open world game or a good quality farming simulator is nearly a decade of commitment. Harvest Moon more often than not has difficulty doing the bare minimum in every category. To tackle and open world farming game is too broad for them to employ. Imagining all the capabilities of the fauna in our own neighborhoods is a monumental task. Harvest Moon is destined to fail until they scale down and refine smaller details.
I want to like this game i really do... but it seems like they put in half the effort and then put the pricetag at full effort costs. You cant do both, i think im going to pass on this game unless it has a massive sale in the future
thats realistic in farmland setting lol. Unlike cities, in farmlands, theres a massive nothing where nothing happens except for the grass that grows. Just look at Montana or Nebraska or so much more midwestern places... or the Japanese country side where you just see people farming, and theres nothing else happening.
@@MaxBlight maybe so but it's a video game. it doesn't have to be realistic and should give the player enough reason to go out there and explore the world, especially if it is an open world game
I used to love the old one, still not sure whether I want to waste my time playing this again or not, and after watching it, I don't think I like the static season
Natsume does know how to make farming simulation game, but you might said that since post-split Harvest Moon doesn't have the same feel as Bokujo Monogatari and used the title for their benefits.
The saddest part for me is the lack of personal touches and thoughts put into character developments. They either all look similar in this annoyingly flawless anime style, or outright weird... When you have a baby, no villages sent congratulations messages to you. Your wife gets pregnant but her body stays the same the entire time. Festivals mechanics are just sad compared to the original HM. Everyone stands in a corner so far apart. Yes indeed, the words "disjointed," "unfinished" have been used here in the comments section. And I agree with them!
Sad so many people still consider Nasume's Harvest Moon the same as the Marvelous's Harvest Moon. When people talk about Nasume's Harvest Moon they bring up Marvelous's creation like it's the same thing. That's like saying Harmony Gold created Robotech.
Look sorry most people will say i'm old as fuck but Back to Nature was the GOAT i still compare a lot of games to it and most are lacking even when i compare Stardew Valley its lacking in comparison to Back to Nature it will always have a special place in my heart
thanks for the review! i'm excited to play but for some reason I can't play it yet it says " This software cannot be played yet" does it come out at a specific time?
Bought this game after watching this review. I quite like it, despite the rather bland cast (even light of hope characters had way more personality on them) and unending busy work (cant even talk to people without getting a request shoved down my throat ffs). There really is something that always makes you wanna do more in this game but until when, only time can tell. Still prefer SoS over HM any day but it's nice that Natsume's getting their shit together
They need a bit of help from the zelda team for the open world then this game will be perfect. Did I just see coffee beans from a tree?????? Very very inaccurate I know its a game but that is pushing it a bit to much.
This map is huge!! It's hard to find towns :/ there's just too much! Is it really a farming game anymore? The plots of land are scattered so far from each other you're more invested trying to explore than farm anymore it's a shame the last good game was one world
Harvest Moon, dont need a empty open World... the Mines looking empty and Borring too. They use 1 Face Typ, for EVERY NPC. Just the Eyes and hair, are different. For Real, the game is just trash, like the One World. Just looks a bit better.
I love most of us would never want anything to do with true farm life but we will spend money to pretend to do the things they do. 😂 I do love Harvest Moon though
It's just sad that it's 2023 and this is the best we can get. The map is big, but it feels soo empty and fake. There is zero depth to the characters (as usual). The customization options are sad.

Facts:
Skyrim is 12 years old. Took about half a decade to develop with a full team.
Stardew Valley is 7 years old. Took about half a decade to develop by one man.
Well i dont wanna be that guy but those are two completely different games.
Is there a way to upgrade youre Houseand Tools multiple times?
Greetings from Germany 🙋
Yup! You unlock the option later in the game
Story of seasons: Three towns is still the best game in my opinion
I love harvest moon ever since fomt. The only other one i really enjoyed was grand bazaar, seems like im going to have to wait sore more
I want to like this game i really do... but it seems like they put in half the effort and then put the pricetag at full effort costs. You cant do both, i think im going to pass on this game unless it has a massive sale in the future
I'm disappointed with it, tbh. It's just filled with more of the same mistakes they always make and are clearly not listening to players at all.
this game looks rough and empty to me
Same here
thats realistic in farmland setting lol.
Same. It doesn’t seem to offer anything fresh and has performance issues. I’ll pass
I haven’t played a farming sim since GC Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life and it looks like I’ll be waiting a bit longer.
I agree with the smaller map with many things on it than a huge map with almost nothing to do in it.
I want to get it now that I have seen your review.
Why isn't there a version that's time can be infinite. Or one with a much slower time but less stamina
One of the best harvest moon out there beside Animal Parade and the original A wonderful life.
I used to love the old one, still not sure whether I want to waste my time playing this again or not, and after watching it, I don't think I like the static season
Since losing the rights to Story of Seasons, it seems like Natsume doesnt quite know what makes a good Harvest Moon
Wow! Nice review
Sad so many people still consider Nasume's Harvest Moon the same as the Marvelous's Harvest Moon. When people talk about Nasume's Harvest Moon they bring up Marvelous's creation like it's the same thing. That's like saying Harmony Gold created Robotech.
I know you said the game opens up with fast travel etc. But I'm honestly put off by it being so short :/ why
It’s honestly not too bad! After the first 2/3 hours it becomes a non issue 😌
idk why him holding the mic like that makes me anxious
Look sorry most people will say i'm old as fuck but Back to Nature was the GOAT i still compare a lot of games to it and most are lacking even when i compare Stardew Valley its lacking in comparison to Back to Nature it will always have a special place in my heart
Im with u my man..for me,back to nature and friends of mineral town will always be no1 harvest moon game for me..
juist played my time at sandrock, and am actually looking forward to play dis game nexf
thanks for the review! i'm excited to play but for some reason I can't play it yet it says " This software cannot be played yet" does it come out at a specific time?
Should be available at noon on the eShop 🧡
Another game I cannot be a cute black farmer girl 😔 very sad
Yes I was curious about that too.....disappointing
It sucks, but my character is dark but identifies as black, so it's good enough for me.
Still prefer SoS over HM any day but it's nice that Natsume's getting their shit together
they can't even be bothered to make a proper coffee plant... the beans just hanging on regular tree
Great review, but why are you holding your microphone?
They need a bit of help from the zelda team for the open world then this game will be perfect. Did I just see coffee beans from a tree?????? Very very inaccurate I know its a game but that is pushing it a bit to much.
no multiplayer? did the devs forget its 2023 now?
This game no need multiplayer lmao. Then how about AC creed Mirage, final fantasy is a 2023 game and no multiplayer
@@ElioCH those arent community based games though. Harvest Moon is a community based game
How many minutes per day when you reported
Those damn ledges. So aggravating. Causes me to get lost regularly, especially when its raining, which it does a lot.
I’m going to wait until they fix the performance issues
He said he was playing this on switch. I wonder how it runs on PS5
I wouldn’t know. I don’t have a PS5.
Animal parade will forever be best 3d harvst moon.
Finally there is a poo inside a barn. The one thing we miss on all harvest moon game, even rune factory too
I’m getting Nintendo Online
Damn really wish it had multiplayer
same. thats the reason i wont be getting the game
I heard story of seasons is getting two new installments and one is multiplayer
glad to see this video...save money ....harvest moon boy & girl is no 1 in my heart...the rest MEH....dont attack me
Hair and eye color only -- clearly not in touch with what their audience wants.
Game super delay for console and Steam.
Ahhh this is not for me 😢
I haven’t bought the game because i was disappointed with One World and it’s hard to trust Natsume again.
