    I like how genuinely nice they are with each other. They do seem like real people. They seem so humble as compared to so many of the superstars these days who are putting on an act when they are on a late night show. These people looked like they genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. They had their jokes they were bringing to the interview but the pacing breathed, leaving room for spontaneity. Love them all. She truly loved him. There are several videos of her through the years, where someone asked who her favorite actor is, and she ALWAYS answered "James Stewart". It was always "James" too, if I'm not mistaken, not "Jimmy". The crew even surprised her, on the very last Carol Burnett show, by sneaking Stewart on the show. Playing the piano and singing to her. It was great watching her cry at the sight of him, like a giddy little school girl.

    I adored the Carol Burnett Show and Carson growing up. When I was very young (late 60’s/early 70’s), my mom stayed up late to watch him. I remember being lulled by his voice and falling fast asleep in my room.
    In watching this particular episode and old replays of Carol’s show, I didn’t realize she was so thin. I recall many actresses, singers, and models were extremely rail thin back in those days but a lot of that was due to cocaine addiction as it was considered a popular and “glamorous” drug for the famous.
    But, I think Carol’s weight loss was most likely due to all of the stress she was dealing with in her own personal life.
    When this 1979 episode aired on Carson, her teenage daughter, Carrie, was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Carol opened up about it to various media sources.
    In 1982, Carol also went through a painful separation from her then husband, Joe Hamilton, who had been executive producer of Carol’s variety shows from 1971 to 1974. They were divorced in 1984. She claimed Carrie’s addiction had brought a wedge into their marriage.
    Sadly, Carrie died from lung cancer that had spread to her brain in 2002. She was only a year older then me.
    I have much more respect for Carol in understanding all that she went through, and am happy she is still kicking and enjoying life.

    I see her show on ME TV each night. Very shrewd lady who brought to her show the best in the business at the time. And what can you say about Tim Conway. For me he was the second Stan Laurel and one of the most talented comedians of all time. Those times will never come back but memories will never die.

    • @Romans--bo7br
      @Romans--bo7br 4 роки тому +1

      Domingo F..... Tim, in "The Dentist" with Harvey was probably THEE ALL TIME funniest skit ever done by Anyone, Ever.... and what made it SO Hilarious was that Tim was "Off script" and basically Ad-libbed the whole thing (which he had a reputation for doing), which actually caused Harvey to "wet himself" from trying not to completely "lose it" on the show..... a fact that was later verified in an interview with Carol in the early 1990s.

    • @domingofernandez789
      @domingofernandez789 4 роки тому +1

      @@Romans--bo7br I agree with you about the best sketch of all time in the ''Dentist'' episode. I learned from you that Tim Conway on that particular sketch was ''off script'' although as you well said he did it routinely and that ''off script'' situations gave the spice that sometimes was needed to complement the writer. That gives you a better idea of the talent that Tim Conway had in his profession as a comedian. He was a genius.

    I miss her show and kept hoping someone would create something similar to watch since most of whats broadcast now is pretty lame. Then I realized that there isn't anyone today with as much talent as Carol and her crew. It never fails to make me laugh when I see clips from the show. My two favorites are the Gone With The Wind parody and Tim Conway telling the story about the siamese elephants that were connected at the trunk. it was one of the funniest moments I remember seeing. I was introduced to Carol when I was very young. My mom bought the LP of Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews at Carnegie Hall. That performance was in "62 (and you can see it on youtube).
