I've been playing a lot of Super Mario Odyssey with the RP5, using Citron 0.4 currently. The game seems to be very unstable with most of the newer Turnip Drivers. But with the current driver I'm using (Turnip 24.1.0 - Rev 17 v2) I've been able to put in a solid hour of play without crashing. I can even put the device in sleep mode with the emulator running and it doesn't crash it. It's become my go to driver as a baseline.
Its insane how RP5 got from being completely out of reach for "that console" emulation, and suddently many games are becoming very well playable. This SD865 is still a monster. Never thought we would ever see 30 fps locked 1x resolution breath of the wild on the RP5
Whoa, it's insane we can now play Exhale of the Crazy at 25-30fps on this little handheld! I remember it seriously struggling before. Excellent progress here, great to see. Android gaming is the future!
HEY RYAN, i finally got my retroid pocket 5, and god DAMN im so fucking happy, it runs dark souls 2 on winlator, i've been binging resident evil4 on aethersx2, and i've started ninja gaiden 1 (or sigma 1 idk) on sudachi, it's so awesome
The 8bitdo sn30 xbox is also my fav controller to use on rp5. I wouldnt think it would be so comfortable without grips but i use it for hours on end without ever having any comfort issues
The best turnip driver for RP5 now is 24.1.0 R18 A6XX that is especially made for Adreno 650, but some games only works with standard qualcomm, but Citron and Sudachi really are changing for the best, but there're still some issues and crashes from time to time
Hey Ryan, been watching your videos since day one. Can you do a view on what the best grips are for the Retroid Pocket 5? Need someone to test the few that are out there and let us know which is the best!
Thank you Ryan for all your hard work keeping the community updated on this fantastic little device! Are the current tests done after the recent update? Haven't seen too much feedback on the performance impact, if any.
I'm glad you like them! 'Optimised' is only optimised for a very few devices and Citron didn't even say which ones at the time I downloaded it. I'm pretty certain it's not optimised for the RP5 though. But in this video I am actually using the 'optimised' version just in case it helps with anything!
Exactly. I installed the optimized version ("frame generation & stabilisation for supported devices") and for now you find the inconvenience that it is installed in a folder that simulates Genshin Impact. It seems that the frame generation is implemented by the device and not the emulator. The developer has also released drivers (biosensor mk.II) that I have to try.
The A button is not different on that gamepad if you switch modes - I think you hold down on the d-pad when switching it on with the start button. Switches from x-input to d-input
So cool for the last game in this list, great video Ryan ! Did you if there's still ghosting in the shrines with this update? That's my main issue and I've tested a bunch of driver and emulator.

They do indeed install as new versions unfortunately. You should be able to go into the settings of the app and export/import your settings. You can also go into specific game settings and export/import things like save files.
@ it's a good idea to follow my 'secret console guide' and combine all your games with the updates so they are only 1 file and you don't need to install updates into apps anymore. That saves a lot of internal storage and also makes it a lot easier to try new apps like this

Make sure you're not in Docked mode and hopefully it should be the same. It may be because I'm in an open area - it might slow down more if you're in a busier place.

Anyway I've been testing Citron 04 myself and while there significant improvements in the games you have covered there are even more significant downgrades to a lot of other games compared to Yuzu. The main problem with Citron however is that it does crash frequently compared to others. The older versions of Citron before it got taken down were far superior but my guess the developer has started from scratch maybe? Seems odd but hopefully Citron will return to it's former glory and even surpass Yuzu one day. As it stands Yuzu still reigns supreme

The latest version has a different name to the previous one and is located in a different place - you can find them in a file manager and going to Android -> Data. You'll need to point ES-DE to that one by opening up the config file and pasting in the file path.
@@RyanRetro1 Thanks for the prompt reply! Ah, so that's why. I've found two .xml config files in 'custom systems' directory within ES-DE but are confused with what information to enter. It's annoyances such as this why I didn't buy an Android device all these years until getting a RP5 so now I'm feeling frustrated with it. If only ES-DE wasn't so unfriendly to use.

Pokemon snap still doesn't let you show the professor all your pictures on any driver 😭 Paper Mario TTYD, I got into the sewers using quacomm, so that is significantly better, but I crashed right before you learn the airplane move. 😭 Fire Emblem 3 houses, Using Quacomm you can get into combat but then it freezes once you initiate a fight. Doing the "Recent Apps" trick doesn't work either. I managed to get the frames through one attack. Second attack crashed it though. Hogwarts Legacy 🤔Has potential. Managed to get into the first cutscene with a solid 30fps. Just crashes at the end of that cutscene. Kingdom Come Deliverance - Boots into the game, you can walk around and interact with things but the load distance is like, 5 feet and you can't tell you're walking into something until you're nose smacks right into it LA Noir is super promising, Got past the gun store and then it crashed on me when driving afterwards. Probably could get further, it was maintaining 30fps pretty well. Hitman Blood Money runs perfectly. Links awakening is the same mess
Cool! There's hope for _Secret console_ emulation yet. Honestly I'd hope with it's successor being talked about for a full week after the reveal that they'd be focusing more on that and finally give up on cracking down on new forks.
Might actually load my fav metroidvanias, like Timespinner, Chasm, Iconoclasts, Omega Strike, & Axiom Verge 1&2 onto my Citron & try them out since it seems to run 2D perfectly, especially on my Odin 2 Pro

It's annoyances such as this why I didn't buy an Android device all these years until getting a RP5 so now I'm feeling frustrated with it. If only ES-DE wasn't so unfriendly to use.
@ hope you get it sorted out!
I have to confirm, in my case, big improvement. Couple of unplayable games now 1x resolution and ok. l would also appreciate a guide for Es-De for us less capable 😊.
@ Glad to hear that! Which games did you notice improvement in?
Your Discord link doesnt work in the description
Are you sure? Lots of new people joined through that link - it should be working
Can someone test dbfz for me?
Moonstone has got native port
Nice!
Pokemon snap still doesn't let you show the professor all your pictures on any driver 😭
Paper Mario TTYD, I got into the sewers using quacomm, so that is significantly better, but I crashed right before you learn the airplane move. 😭
Fire Emblem 3 houses, Using Quacomm you can get into combat but then it freezes once you initiate a fight.
Kingdom Come Deliverance - Boots into the game, you can walk around and interact with things but the load distance is like, 5 feet and you can't tell you're walking into something until you're nose smacks right into it
LA Noir is super promising, Got past the gun store and then it crashed on me when driving afterwards. Probably could get further, it was maintaining 30fps pretty well.
Hitman Blood Money runs perfectly.
Links awakening is the same mess
Thanks a lot for sharing your results. There's definitely promise here! It's not a complete fix for everything but there are certainly improvements!
@@RyanRetro1 Happy to help! Honestly, I'm super impressed with how far it's come! Now they just need to hit the rest of the good games 😩🙏
Cool! There's hope for _Secret console_ emulation yet. Honestly I'd hope with it's successor being talked about for a full week after the reveal that they'd be focusing more on that and finally give up on cracking down on new forks.
Yeah it seems the pace has really been picked up since the new reveal!
Might actually load my fav metroidvanias, like Timespinner, Chasm, Iconoclasts, Omega Strike, & Axiom Verge 1&2 onto my Citron & try them out since it seems to run 2D perfectly, especially on my Odin 2 Pro
Lots of games are running great on the RP5 so they must run even better on the Odin!
Art Of Rally is still troubling me :(
Please can you do a video on best settings for pokemon compass
