If i recall correctly, everyone that night was feeling pretty good and it was more of a party than a performance. Phil forgot the words to In The Air Tonight in the middle of the song, and during Tonight Tonight Tonight they lost the beat during the chorus. It wasnt just Genesis, but many performers that night. Alcohol may have been a factor. 😂
I remembered it, but I didn't remember about the troubles that Phil had while it was singing it. It seems that it was poorly rehearsed, at least by Phil. Which was the Tony's song after this?
@Johnx Doex Ok, I’ll admit it- Anyone who didn’t know Shortcut to somewhere, wouldn’t mind if he sang ‘slipstream’ in a slightly different place than it belonged!
When seeing things like this, it becomes QUITE apparent why Phil's voice became toast. This song is entirely out of his range and rather than lower it, he's doing it in its original key. Singing out of one's range is dangerous and it killed his voice.
I actually don't care for Mike and (o +) The Mechanics also, i also think that this effort was pretty weak yet not as bad as The Lamb being played by Peter's band.
Your a legend man, Never expected to see Phil cover Mike's track so greatly

What a perfect performance, absolutely brilliant
Ho il vinile...Ottimo pop per Tony, il mio tastierista preferito da sempre🙋🙏

Awesome. I would to hear the whole song with the right lyrics from Phil, but I'll take what I can get.
Phil sung this song perfectly, what a legend!! 😀👍
I've never seen that, thanks for sharing it
Phil's voice is the sound of the 80's.
His voice comes with reverb included
Phil Collins excelente voz canta un súper temon 😊 inolvidable

Its also rare love it👍
Wow I didn't Know that Phil Collins had ever sing a Mike song.
After this, they do a Tony Banks song which he also has trouble with!

@Johnx Doex No, I’m laughing at how much he bungled the lyrics to the one verse they did!
Tom Sizemore could have nailed the role of Phil Collins

Not bad but Paul sang it better as long as Rutherford is on guitar I'm happy
Band is so tight. But this kinda sounds like a bar mitzvah band cover.
Good but not paul young😊
Man, it sounds terrible! Think something's wrong with Bank's keyboard. They hold a weird note and then disappear
Its a medley, and you would never see Tony playing Mike's simple chords... i'm just kidding about the last one
Way too fast!
Horrible. And that’s coming from someone who likes Phil and Genesis

@@Schimnesthai Very true about "The Lamb" version by PG ( aka The Lamb on steroids ).
