I mean John died an extremely brutal death, but Arthur had to put up with his lungs being destroyed from inside him, his father figure betraying him, all of this being out of his control
John Marston is the chillest dude in history. He literally didn't give one fuck to a zombie apocalypse, and simply faced death like a chad. This song only plays when he actually gets angry.
@@RobertBelko Yeah I agree. I feel the Arthur part more like a tragic story about a man trying to be good but he has to do bad things becasue he doesnt know better. I especially feel, that he can't express himself correctly to people sometimes. I feel he could've expressed his feelings with Abigail better when she was mad at him in Jim Milton Rides Again for saving those cattle. I guess he should've expressed his emotions about the past, and not bury it. John Marston is what Arthur Morgan would be if Arthur could escape with Mary, okay. I don't think I agree with that. @@RobertBelko I get your point, I didn’t mean that Arthur would do the same things that John did. I didn't think every Arthur simp and contrarian in the RDR community would piss and shit themselves over it smh.
This perfectly encapsulates John Marston, a man on a mission to try and put his past behind him and move into the future with his family... even if in the end it was ultimately pointless. Rdr2 was the story of a dying west and a man's quest to save the ones he loved and redeem himself and forgive himself. The slow realization that hes living in a world where outlaws are no longer welcome, where his gang is truly dying. Arthur soughy to save as many people as he could before the hand of death came for them all Rdr1 was a story about an already dead west and a man's mission, to put his past behind him and to save the ones he loved. Sure its called red dead redeption, but I argue that John didn't seek redemption... just security in knowing he would bury the past, even if he would be buried with it, thats why he's so accepting when the moment comes for him to die Arthur was always a cowboy and an outlaw But through to 1911 John was truly the last cowboy.
"John didn't seek redemption, just security in knowing he would be burying his past, even if he had to be buried with it" That's gotta be the coldest line delivered about a character. Well said sir
I swear, while reading your comment, I hummed that Tabletop Rdr2 ending-credits theme. (the sad joint that played as Tilly was walking with her husband to the trolley) 😭
@@arsnau8997 I don't really compare rdr2 to the last of us 2 because in the end ellie doesn't even get her revenge meaning all of those deaths both sides caused were for nothing. In red dead redemption 2 however, John Marston was the perfect foreshadowing since the entire game everyone calls him an idiot.
I feel that this song transmits several emotions including anger, adrenaline, maybe a little sadness but above all that thirst for revenge that can only be quenched with the death of a single person.
I'm just imagining that this song plays whenever something is REALLY stacked up against your favor, and instead of buckling under and admitting defeat, you just smile and say, "I don't care what happens after this. Whether it is good or bad, I need to keep going until either I'm dead or I succeed in my goal. I'm not leaving until one of those two things happen."
I can picture Clint Eastwood saying something like "I'm either leaving in a hearse or they are" then tipping off his hat, putting his signature smirk and going in guns blazing!!!
If I was Micah, the thing I'd be most terrified of is Arthur's hat. Seeing John wearing it would mean that he hasn't let go of what I did to the gang for an entire century. The memories, rage, and honor flowing through that hat all at the same time. Seeing the bodies of my gang falling into the snow before it. Absolutely bone-chillingly horrifying.
Arthur’s Character arc is emotional and human, filled with the struggles of morality and how to deal with his impending doom John’s character arc is just simply becoming the baddest ass gunslinger in the whole west. This is the song that solidifies that transition.

By getting into fights he put himself at risk (and by extension, his family) and he made himself more visible to the law. He's still a wanted man. John was the spirit of the whole gang in that point, he came there all the rest and loyal ones, but at the end, like Arthur before him, he had to face it alone, surrounded by rats, suffered many things, but endured, still wild as hell, sharp and deadly, breathing fire in anger and burning everything he sees. He was the embodiment of Arthur and Josea and all their values, he was their son. Even fallen Dutch has returned at the last chapter.
Imagine being John though, you stand there in front of these three guys, and all of a sudden this music plays in your head. You're not surprised, you knew this moment was coming and you prepared for it. @@RobertBelko Yeah I agree. I feel the Arthur part more like a tragic story about a man trying to be good but he has to do bad things becasue he doesnt know better.
And the Marston part is more like the journey of a lonely man trying to put back his life whit his family but cant let go of all the pain and guilt from the past.
John Marston is what Arthur Morgan would be if he could have escape from that outlaw life whit Mary Linton. (In my opinion)
@@TheMetroidex John Marston trying to be good, but ending up doing bad things because he doesn't know better? I think I agree with that.
John's story is a lonely man's journey trying to put back his life with his family but can't let go of all the pain and guilt from the past? I think I agree with that too.
I won't and I probably can't tell you how it would differ, but I feel Arthur's story with Mary would differ from John's, because they're different people and therefore they would end up in different interactions with the world? Something like that.
@@RobertBelko I get your point, I didn’t mean that Arthur would do the same things that John did. What I meant was that if Arthur escaped whit Mary he would end up very similar to John, I mean he had a 5K reward in his head and I dont bealive that the Pinkertons would let Arthur escape that easily (I say that because we all know what happend to John in RDR).
@@TheMetroidex You didn't mean Arthur and John would do the same things, okay. I can imagine I frustrated you with that, sorry about that. You predict that Arthur's story escaping with Mary would be somewhat close to John's, because both of them have money on their heads and are wanted by the Pinkertons, if I understand correctly. I agree that that's how the story could go, it is a good and reasonable prediction. Though, I imagine Arthur's story with Mary could go any direction compared to John's. I think it all depends on how anyone would like the story to go.

Arthur soughy to save as many people as he could before the hand of death came for them all
Rdr1 was a story about an already dead west and a man's mission, to put his past behind him and to save the ones he loved. Sure its called red dead redeption, but I argue that John didn't seek redemption... just security in knowing he would bury the past, even if he would be buried with it, thats why he's so accepting when the moment comes for him to die
Arthur was always a cowboy and an outlaw
But through to 1911 John was truly the last cowboy.
"John didn't seek redemption, just security in knowing he would be burying his past, even if he had to be buried with it" That's gotta be the coldest line delivered about a character. Well said sir

Yeah saving people is good, but two things: it wasn't John's business to do that, he wasn't the law nor was he employed to do that, his business was to provide for his family. By getting into fights he put himself at risk (and by extension, his family) and he made himself more visible to the law. He's still a wanted man. Let's not forget that at the very start of the epilogue they are still on the move because John killed some guy.
