- Admitidly I bought this bike with no intentions of reviewing. I just wanted something light and fast that I could try and keep up with some faster riders and Ebikers. To my surprise this bike had me XC riding a lot. Here is the short and dirty of the Specialized Epic Evo.

Good to hear it doesn’t compromise much on the downhill. I bought my first MTB a year ago and got the Status and feel as if its not really meant for what i do, i do more flat techy/make ground style ride with some downhill bombs but dont live in a mountain area and a buddy pointed me in the epic direction. I also cant keep up with anyone speed wise on rides with the status. Feel like i work twice as hard and i am in great shape
For being an XC bike, it is really a blast to ride. Of course, it won't handle the tech like the Status, but it will be more enjoyable on the way up. If you're not riding tech trails, the Epic Evo could be a great bike.
Good to see Straightline MTB back on the air for a new season!
😮 yeah boy
Welcome back. Good review
Yeeeee 🎉.
Epic Evo is definitely an XC bike albeit definitely on the aggressive side. Thanks for being clear on that, too many people want to call it more than that which is misleading for sure. Don't get me wrong, I love my Evo! It's just not a short travel trail bike or even *whispers* "downcountry" like many have said.
This was my first xc bike, but it handled a lot better than I expected. I agree it's not a downcountry bike like the Spur or even the Ripley AF. I didn't take it down the sketchy local trails but felt great on the more mixed terrain. Thanks for watching!
The Epic Evo is a "Downcountry" bike if that means an XC bike with a little more suspension travel. It works very well on flow trails; in fact, it's a speed weapon!
Love this color
It looks really good in person. A fall color.
220 on a bad day and days have been pretty bad lately 😂😂😂😂 got me haha
Working on it.....very slowly lololol. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your review

As an Epic Evo Expert owner for the last 3 years I'm not sure you're getting the full experience on that base model; it's just too heavy at 28.5 lbs. With some component substitutions (like CF wheels) it's not difficult to get the weight down to the mid-23 lb area. Add in flow trails and it's a speed weapon!
I agree, although riding this base model and it being so awesome says a lot about this bike. A lighter build would surely make it even more of a fast weapon on the trail. The extra weight on this build does smooth out the chunk just a bit. S
Thanks for watching
Hi, could you tell me please how tall are you? I am in between M and L size at 5'10 and dont know which one to go with? Thank you
I am 5'11.5" and on a large. It felt comfortable for as I usually ride longer travel bikes. Your height has you on either large or medium. From there, think if you want a more nimble or more confident bike. Going with large will give you a slightly longer wheelbase which should give a bit more confidence. Check seat tube length also as the seat tube is longer than longer travel bikes
@@StraightLine_MTB thanks a lot
@@funLad80 no problem, should say large or medium.
Definitely large
Ibis Ripley is a much better bike!!
😂
Not!
I cannot compare to carbon Ripley. I did have the AF to compare. So far I'd say the Element has more confident geo and a snappier climber. I'm sure the carbon Ripley is better than the AF though. For my riding style, Element wins out hands down for me
I love passing people on Ripley's with my Epic Evo lol
How would you define "better"?
