Same here I have a thing that records videos but they're always in a weird format and I had some proprietary paid for software that would convert that to a playable format but I'm going to try this thing now because the other thing even though it works it's really slow
Been using VLC for a LONG time and had no idea you could convert files with it, just recently learned I could stream it to my phone. I used Handbrake to convert files, but VLC does it SO much faster. Next time I need to convert something, I'm going to give this a try. Thanks for the great info and advice you give.
Another awesome video and even though Windows 11 has a built in media player I would still rather use VLC because it is better. Thanks 👍 for sharing the video.
I used VLC as a media player for years but about 5yrs ago switched over to MPC-BE because I like the interface better. I had no idea VLC could convert files I've been using Handbrake.
back in the day ,way back when, i used to use dvd shrink to rip video files ,and vlc was always my media player of choice to check for lipsyncing/jumping, for the record i recently redownloaded dvd shrink and opened up a legit dvd on my sons pc to demonstrate it to him ,due to todays pc being much faster i had to enable the preview window in dvd shrink to prevent it from crashing :), when i used it years ago i had to have the preview window OFF or it would crash :) :), nice to see vlc still has its edge even 20 years plus later :) :)
Have always used VLC this year because when starting a video on Windows Media it always runs for 30 seconds before sound and more than a minute before video appears.
For me, it keeps repeating automatically from the beginning, cannot be stopped at all, and the output file remains an mp3. The message “The output file already exists. If the recording is continued, the file will be overwritten and its content will be lost” appears again and again as a pop up, thanks for your feedback.
@@seasonstudios VLC and Handbrake both are based on FFmpeg. So, they can convert any format/codec to anything. But I think there is no targets other than just MP4, MKV and WEBM in handbrake. But at least format/codec of the source file doesn't matter.
why the vlcplayer now PLAY the video and convert in same slow speed??the movie length is 1h 39 m and it look like it convert in same Speed...btw i think everyone know how to install a program...
It might do that if you wanted the whole file but try doing a video where you only want seven minutes of it in the middle of the video and watch it go sideways and fail horribly.
I'm stuck in a loop. After i've converted a file, i'm greeted with this message. "The output file already exists. If recording continues, the file will be overidden and its content will be lost" The two options available are "Overwrite" and "Keep existing file"
It does that if the converted file has the same name and is saved in the same directory as the original file. So it's asking if you want to keep the original file or overwrite it with converted file. Best way to avoid that is make the file name different to the original, such as adding a hyphen or underscore, a number or any other symbols.

There is a Ebay seller selling VLC Media player on ebay. Shows a picture of box adverising VLC media player. Under that it says Disc no box
I use FFMPEG for normal conversion, but you need to know how to use a command line program. There are several Windows GUI front ends for it too.
Sometimes (very often in my cases) only think you need to do is to remux original video, no reencoding necessary.
Excellent; I've used this years ago but had forgotten. #FeedTheAlgorithm
Handbrake was always my go to.
Handbrake is great but isn't it limited to Mp4 or MKV ?
@@seasonstudios nope, it can convert a ton of different files.

Does VLC Media Player converter to file format & support to keep without losing tag music ?

VLC is the simple and free to use Media player and you can also convert your video files to any video file format.

ive tried so many times and it converts the file into the same mkv. file it already way TT
I've heard you can put videos as wallpapers with vlc .
You can rip Audio off dvds also with VLC also.
I tried to convert a XML file to MP4 but it’s not converting any tips
Don't know what XML is, I assume a file would need to be video or audio to be converted.
Fast and easy❤
I’ve only been able to convert .ISO to mp4 once. Now it just grabs 15 seconds.
Thanx for the video. I've used VLC for years . Mostly use the convertor for converting audio to .mp3 files. Video. Well some success bit not 100%
Very good staff
I Never Knew VLC had this lol I always use handbrake to convert video files.
